  1. A frustrating year for production and my vegetable garden is now a weed garden. I planted more than I could keep weeded because it was much to muddy most the time to do anything.   A severe thunder storm came along a month ago and blew my 34 tomato plants / cages to the ground. Didn't try to upright them after the first try broke the main stem at the ground so let them lay. With all the rain we got in a short periods of time over a couple of weeks (like 5 inches, 2 inches, three inches, etc.) twenty of my tomato plants in standing water I guess drowned. Of the remaining plants, just when a tomato is "about" vine ripened and ready o pick, go out the next day and something was munching on it. A bumper crop of wabbits here this year I suppose.   With the exception of zucchini and turnips, nothing produced as well as last year. Canned 28 quarts of Blue Lake bush beans so far and the pickings are slimmer and slimmer (planted about 150 linear yards of them).   Sweet banana peppers finally started to produce fair and canned 14 1/2 pints of pepper rings. They are great on sandwiches, hamburgers, etc.   Watermelon and cantaloupe are molding / rotting away laying on the ground? I've noticed areas of the soil with what looks like mold on it? At least the beetles were not bad this year.   Next year I'm going to go smaller I do believe.
  2.     Yea, I didn't much care to roam around my house with cob webs in my head, heart pounding and the blasting siren but...   To silence the 2,750 db alarm I had to physically make my way from  the master bedroom to the kitchen. It's impossible to hear anything on a cell phone, or any phone to make a call. You question yourself if it a false alarm or the real thing? We barely heard the phone ring when ADT called a few minutes after the alarm went off.   Then again, as Rob Pincus always advises, it's best to let the BG come to you and not go looking for them but...   When someone has the gull to break into your home, it's difficult to stop the testosterone dump.
  3. Yep, bumper crop of rabbits, turkey and deer around here too. In the five years I've lived here in Henry County, I've only seen one pair of quail.   I take it there is still hunt able populations of quail some places in Tennessee?
  4.   I wasn't picking on you or any other hard working American that doesn't meet AMA weight standards and I apologize if you took it that way Mariner.   I am picking on the generational obese welfare people loading their carts with "junk food items" I sometimes can't afford to buy, and on my dime. Two out of three times I'm in line behind people using their EDB welfare cards there's a long wait because of:   (1) Insufficient funds in the account and the ensuing argument with the cashier. (2) Multiple items not permitted on the "card" and wait for them to go get other items to replace them while the whole line waits. (3) The general excessive amount of time it takes to process all those EBY coupons or whatever those pages of paper are. (4) The attitudes and expensive jewelry generally adorning them. (5) And I won't even go into items they purchase separately and pay cash I can't afford.
  5. Well, since I'm the first to mention it... Definitely the Glock 19.
  6. In other words, "make everyone equal, equally poor"... Except for the ruling class.
  7. Man, I don't know what to say except so sorry! I here ya!   My mother, God bless her departed soul got them really bad also on her stomach. She and her doctors never could find a medication that helped very much.   She had major heart surgery and never complained once about her chest or anything, just them shingles. Evidently even all the pain medication she had in her system from the heart surgery didn't phase those shingles. She had them probably three continuous years before she passed away.   Wishing you a speedy recovery! I have seen something new they are advertising on TV for shingles but for the life of me I can't recall its name?
  8. Mixed income housing, Section 8, the projects, etc. has never and will never work. Now your government is dead set on spreading the crime, gang-bangers and riff raft to an area near you. Due to the human nature of lazy people on the dole not wanting to earn their keep, this social experiment will keep quoting Einstein ( Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results).   It is immoral to take from the well being of my family by force and squander it to ungrateful lazy people by the force of the politicians choice and taxes and law.   I worked 44 years and paid plenty into my Federal retirement and it's officially called "a benefit". If you receive welfare, public housing, food stamps, WIC, etc., it officially called an entitlement? Is that mincing words?   Nothing I like better than watching the 9 out of 10 morbidly obese people slowing me up in the grocery line with their empty debit card accounts, with a counter full of twinkies, chips and soda. Hop into their new vehicle and drive across the street to the liquor store and buy booze and lottery tickets.   Who was it here anyway that got me on this rant?
  9. A nice cool beautiful afternoon so I decide to take a couple mile walk today. Got out to country road and noticed something in the middle of the road about three hundred yards in front of me. Continue walking toward what ever it is and at about two hundred yards it drops down to four legs and walks off the side of the road and into the soy bean field. Looks like a domestic cat I think to myself. The soy beans are about one foot tall and as I'm walking, I see this “cats” head keep popping up over the soy beans. The only way that could happen is if the cat was constantly raising up on two legs? I don't think so. Anyway, I'm closing distance on the critter and each time it pops up its head I freeze in my tracks, then the head momentary pops back down. I do this the last fifty yards until I'm 5 yards and face-to-face with a big groundhog, just standing upright and looking at me. After a moment it goes back to what it was doing, eating, destroying and uprooting the soy beans right next to me. I waved my arms and yelled at it to scare it off, nope, continued messing up the soy beans not five yards from me and paying me never no mind. My neighbors recently told me about the damage the ground hogs and deer are doing to their lawn, crops and stuff and the 70 year old neighbor lady even borrowed her grandson's BB gun to shoot the ground hog, go figure? As I'm standing there I'm thinking I could easily shoot it and do my neighbors a service but... I decided not to because I have tinnitus 30% of the time and a gunshot would immediately make my ears ring for hours without hearing protection, not to mention it's illegal since it's not my crops or property but... It made me think that carrying a small set of Styrofoam ear plugs with my EDC gear might make sense, as I was thinking back the last five years. In the last five years I've ran into a rabid skunk and raccoon during broad daylight on my property. I assume they were rabid as they were acting weird, disorientated, sick and salivating with tongues hanging out? Both times I did not have a firearm with or on me as I was preoccupied with my chores. I ended up dispatching one with a big stick and the other with a big rock. Had I had my firearm with me it was a “no brainer” to just shoot them, but with no hearing protection, it still would have been sticks and stones.
  10. Don't color these liberals stupid, they are extremely intelligent and manipulative to twist history for their own goals and agendas.     What would be the purpose to blatantly lie and have that rubbish spewing from his vile mouth? A new anti-American goal or another American restriction on our Constitutional freedoms maybe?
  11. Hmm. Some fodder for thought?   Guess where I have my photo's and serial numbers stored for safe keeping and fire protection?   But mine is probably 1,200 lbs. loaded and door frames would have to come off to get it out. I'm guessing it's probably one of those smaller lite safes?
  12.   You are absolutely right! I stand, sit and squat corrected :usa:
  13.   And here I thought it was the day of the week
  14. Watching this program I'm getting some good pointers for IDPA.   Every time, and I mean every time when they're running through zombies they always make perfect head shots! Give them an automatic weapon and they can't hit the broad side of a barn?
  15. IMO, it depends on the configuration of your home, number of corners, walls, stairs, outside your home with neighbors close by, children in your bedrooms, etc.   When my burglar alarm went off at 3:00 A.M. some time ago, I grabbed my 870 shotgun and quickly realized it was to awkward and cumbersome for the twists, turns, configuration and stairs in my home. So I went back to my bedroom and grabbed my handgun.   Lots of things to consider and a practice session might be beneficial, as it was for me, and thankfully it was a false alarm. If the real thing happens, you best have all your bugs worked out and have a definitive plan and the proper tools to maximize your desired outcome.   What works best for one person probably won't be your best choice.
  16.   Yea I'm there too, at the one yard line and the ball has been snapped. Sure hope I get blocked from crossing that goal line for awhile.   How long before the American population sees these liberals for what the are, traitors and communists.
  17. I have the same setup myself cepten a Streamlight TLR-1 rail light. Them TruGlo's sure do pop out at ya!   I wanted to shoot my G-19 at our annual IDPA night match this month but found out... It's illegal to shoot with a weapon mounted light and I didn't have a holster. Just received my new kydex holster from Comptac Monday, works great. Did a lot of searching and I guess no one makes a leather holster for a pistol w/ rail light.   Oh yea. I had a 3.5 lb. trigger kit installed and it's a world of difference pulling the trigger. I installed a different slide end plate on it from the Glock Store.   Now she's all dressed up and ready for a walk. The local LGS has plenty of PMC 9 mm. Life is good.
  18. With both arms stretched fully upward and jumping up and down as high as I can jump, I'm screaming, "I'll play, I'll play"!!! Can you hear me?   An abandoned and in penetrable underground government missile silo capable of withstanding a close nuclear strike, complete with an underground bank vault, double barbed wire / razor wire perimeter, claymores and surveillance cameras. Stockpiled with 5 years of food and water and few female associates.   That should keep my wife, her lawyers and process servers at bay  After all, I bought that ticket with MY two bucks, she didn't! And we all know how the liberal women leaning black robe wearing legal system views a woman's right to what a man has earned by himself
  19. One hour a week, I hate it...   I'll try to wait until they have a bunch of them running and use the DVR because one hour just isn't enough. Then you have to wait a whole seven (7), count them, SEVEN days to get the next one!   IMHO, they lost a couple of the best characters being killed off. Bet ur arse the "Governor" will make a return.   I can't stand that little Carl anymore. Zombies or no zombies, my off spring acts like that the pants get dropped and he becomes a little 12 year old again.   I'm starting to side with the "Walking Dead" the more I watch :ugh:   Too bad the liberal government got un-seated. I'm sure they could have come up with a welfare program to satisfy the hunger of every zombie at the expense of the remaining workers to satisfy them?   Poor zombies, they're homeless, hungry, roam around in packs, don't want to work and want to take by force what you spent years accumulating up (beer belly).
  20. I'd comment but, I kind of like it around here... Other than to say...   Know thy enemy and make a plan.
  21. Color me stupid if you will, but what does being "gay" have to do with anything?   You are born black, white, Hispanic, Asian, male, female, etc., you can't change that. You're not born a deviate, murderer, robber, pedophile or gang-banger, those are conscious actions and deliberate choices.   Why do people want to be identified and labeled with a sexual act and exhibit it in public? I don't throw my sexuality in anyone's face and want to be recognized as a special class?   I just don't get it, maybe it's my belief's and age?
  22. War, pestilence, plague, disaster, earthquake, drought, economic disaster, greed, dictatorship, enslavement, volcano's, tsunamis, dust bowls have occurred frequently through out all of history and about every century. What makes anyone think this generation is exempt ? Disease can be transported everywhere in the world in just hours. Missiles can hit in just minutes. When in history have these threats been so great?   Add to the above mix todays advanced potential chemical, biological and nuclear threats from terrorists, Muslim's, and hostile countries, and you have a 100% certainty of calamity in this generation.   Things never stay the same, just ask previous civilizations. Only difference today is we have the ability to release our own destruction and faster than anytime in recorded history.   When worthless paper is your money and the printing press's are running 24/7, look out.   When our country is trying to unite and globalize under the auspice of the U.N. into a one world government, and give up our sovereignty, double look out.   Better have a couple can's of beans and a few bullets just in case.
  23.   <Dennis1209, chapter 9, verse 11>
  24. I was a part of the segment of children they needed to lower the standards for starting about 5th grade, in order to pass grade school.   When the girls started to develop "bumps" on their front side in 5th grade, I developed attention deficit disorder (ADD).   In public high school in the late 60's when mini skirts came out and the "bumps" got huge, I spent most my classroom time with my head 180 degrees from where I was informed it should be?   Seriously though... It makes no sense to lower standards as a feel good measure. This country was built by achievers and not lazy low life's who demand equal anything. Eventually this country will reach a point where this nonsense will not be tolerated or we will be doomed.   I've talked to public school English teachers that do not have command of the English language and speak ghetto trash (kid's former public school). The Principle had a P.H.D. and when she spoke, she be, he be, I axed, etc.
  25. Go back and re-read TN. TWR site.   They got flamed and changed their stance by popular demand and public pressure and consider hogs a nuisance and are no longer regulated as a game species.
