  1.   ^^^^ DITTO ^^^^
  2. Last few trips to the local Walmart they finally had all the popular calibers in stock, less .22 of course. Got my limit of 9mm and .45 auto while grocery shopping today. Next time out I had better get stocked up on some .223 / 5.56 NATO before another possible run on ammo.   The nuts just keep coming out of the wood work and it wouldn't surprise me more anti-gun legislation and executive orders coming down the pipe to trigger another round of gouging and hoarding.
  3. I just returned from Wally World and bought my limit of ammo. Just when they're finally getting ammo back on the shelves, here we go again.. Instead of slowly building up my reserves to shoot IDPA, etc., maybe I best get on the fast track.   When is the government and press going to educate themselves in the difference between an "assault rifle" and a modern sporting rifle (MSR)?
  4. Love smoked meat!   I have the standard vertical smoker and I'm toying with the idea of doing our Thanksgiving turkey in it, maybe? I've never done a full size turkey in it, just turkey breasts a number of times, and that has taken roughly 5-6 hours. Any idea how long a full size turkey will take?   I've kept my trap shut around here about doing that because the family loves smoked meats, the wife would love not having to do the turkey in the oven, and there's no way I'm getting out of bed at 3:00 A.M. for a turkey. It's become a custom to chow down at 1:00 P.M. Thanksgiving day, maybe I can change it to late night Thanksgiving supper?   I also have a turkey fryer and fried turkey tastes just O.K. to me. I like it best oven cooked stuffed with dressing or smoked.
  5. Yep, that be a corn snake IMO.   The only two snakes native to NW Tennessee I have not seen on my property are the corn snake and timber rattler, and maybe a few species of water snakes.   Speaking of snakes and situational awareness... Busy doing outside chores yesterday with my brain one step ahead of me, took my first step off the back porch onto the sidewalk and just inches off my left foot was a 3-1/2 foot Rat Snake just sitting motionless on a brick walkway adjacent to the sidewalk. Being cool out I suspect it was soaking up some heat. Stood where I stopped for a few minutes watching and admiring it and it finally slithered into the shrubbery next to my house.   Since moving to the country, the wife has finally got use to and accepted the fact I won't kill any snakes and I explained why. The only exception being maybe a Cotton Mouth at my house, but they pretty much stay down close to my pond. Even the Copper Heads around here are not aggressive and do everything they can to get away from you.
  6. I seldom see anyone open carry around my neck of the woods, however... Not long ago I was at a Cracker Barrel in Murray, KY. standing in line with my wife to be seated. While everyone else seemed oblivious to the fact the big guy standing right in front of me was OC. To pass the time I asked the guy, "hey, is that a Kimber CDP II you're wearing"? He gave me a puzzling look like how... I said I own one too, but didn't raise my shirt to compare notes if you will. Great way to meet people and pass the time waiting in line. Sure beats talking about purses or high heel shoes doesn't it gentleman?   Anyway, to each their own. I personally prefer surprises and don't advertise my wares. I believe the police officer was probably having a bad day and being filmed probably didn't help the situation. There's no doubt they were trolling for attention and that one dude that stated he was unarmed sure did flub up his prepared speech on 2nd Amendment issues. If you go looking for a confrontation with the authorities you're probably going to get your wish.     Then again, if open carry is legal and you are detained by law enforcement solely for OC, a simple presentation of a DL and HCP should have immediately sufficed. It appears some liberal called 9-1-1 and made a complaint and the cop went a little overboard, O.K. maybe a lot overboard?
  7.   They always do.
  8. I did my entire collection, entire slides and all with Froglube. So far so good. It's not oily or greasy and doesn't leave finger prints.   BTW Mr. highpower, I wish I stayed as dry as you do. I'm my own weather system and I rain salty water
  9. Humm... Thanks guys, I was thinking there could be problems doing that.
  10. Running toward or away real fast from "The Walking Dead" and making a head shot each and every time? They must have shot IDPA every month but it ain't right.   Using a twenty-five cent cheap cowboy holster for a Colt Python .357 that you have to hold in place to keep it from flopping out when moving, ain't right.   Looking forward to the next episode ain't right.
  11. This just makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. It's become the American way to punish the productive achievers and reward and protect the non productive.   I'll bet my very last Bippy that the cry babies get their way and be pacified and coddled. The school board will probably initiate policy to prevent such a travesty from ever occurring again.
  12. I strive to do business with a reputable honest business, preferably local but...   When a business establishment voluntarily goes crazy after a single incident and caves into hysteria, sentiment, emotion and the liberal mantra. By not honoring and canceling existing pre-paid firearms orders, making it difficult to get a refund, getting rid of their existing firearm stock, raising prices sky high and leading in the plundering of their customers.   I'll stand back and take a second look and see if these are the type of business's I want to support. Their business practices lead me to rename them and refer to them as:   OXYMORON DIRT
  13. Morning Folks,   Have a question maybe someone might know. When I retired I took my Blue Cross Blue Shield standard option health insurance with me. Talk about expensive insurance! The insurance normally pays roughly 80% and I'm responsible for the remaining 20% plus co-pays. Anyway...   Getting pretty board in retirement and winter is going to give me a bad case of cabin fever. If I'm offered a job that has a healthcare plan, is there any benefit in enrolling in it? Naturally I'll have to pay my share of it and it will substantially reduce the net pay. Would having a second health insurance plan pay / off set the 20% I'm responsible for under my existing Blue Cross, or the $20.00 fee per doctor visit?   Thanks.
  14. Well first, before you get my seal of approval to move here...   Are you liberal or conservative
  15. It's a powder keg, as an old man speaks his mind.   I'm a student of history and never in my 60+ years on this earth and as an American citizen, seen our nation so divided.   As far as race is concerned, my litmus test would be the assimilation of diverse cultures into productive society and a desire to become American citizens. Do we see that? No! What is an undeniable fact is we have the largest population per capita imprisoned in our penitentiaries. One out of ten U.S. residents is either in prison, charged with a crime, on parole or release, or a convicted felon. How does the prison system work? The very first thing that happens is they group up by race and war against one another, undisputable fact!   How many China Towns, Vietnam Towns, Hispanic Towns, Muslim enclaves, Asian Towns, Northern & Southern Mexican Towns, etc. reside in the states? Comprising of millions of people opposed to assimilating as naturalized American citizens, and wanting to bring their unwelcome culture, burden, disease, alien belief's and families to U.S. soil?   We are divided by liberals and conservative's, those wanting a Constitutional Republic and those wanting a democracy. We are divided by the have's and have not's... Those that feel that they need not work ever and the government owes them a living, and those that want to work and keep what they earn and not have it squandered away.   We have geographical polarizations to boot. Just look at a map of the blue vs. red states. We have a public school system that has taken away local control of the education of our children and placed it in the hands of a liberal Federal Government.   We have a plague of illegals flooding our country and demanding and receiving welfare benefits, housing, banking access, education and other benefits most U.S. legalized citizens don't qualify for. It has developed to a "U.S. vs. Them mentality".   We have evolved into a world empire and have donated tens of billions of your earned money to Muslim countries and countries hostile to our way of life promoting Sharia law on our soil, and to temporarily pacify our Great Satan country.   Against the majority of Americans, they take God out of our schools, lives, fiat money and tell U.S. we can't have a religious display because it offends a certain group. On and on and on and on.   Why have we become so divided I ask?
  16. I've always been told not to purchase a first year model automobile until they get all the bugs worked out. Guess it applies to anything newly manufactured on a production line.
  17. What's up guy's?   Chickens, they're wonderful and let me tell you why. I'm a newbie with chickens and this is the fourth year of my chicken experience. Everything has gone great and in addition to delicious free eggs, I did something different this spring / summer / fall, I let them out of their coop / run and let them free range during the day. I did that because they're getting old and their production has dropped by 60% and thought I'd let them enjoy a little freedom.   I didn't know how many I would lose to predators like hawks letting them out during the day. Sort of funny because I've noticed hawks very interested and flying over head and landing in near by trees scoping them out but, one has never attacked? I was also concerned about if they would return to their coop when it got dark. No problem there, like clock work, just close the chicken run and done at dusk!   For some reason they will gravitate toward and around the house first and work their way outward, scratching and pecking away at anything. The leaves that gather at those annoying places that always need raking are taken care of by the scratching of the chickens, but I digress somewhat, as I just thought of it today.   In a normal year, we have at least a few outside bugs per week make their way into our home and the wife gets all skittish and bent out of shape. "Dennis" do something! Some of them are the critters that have lots of legs and some look like some sort of roach. No one wants bugs in their homes!   In a normal spring / summer I pick off ticks left and right around here from my yard, but not this year. I only recall picking off "one" tick all this year!   The incredible editable egg is more than that.
  18. Looking at all this nonsense about making America safer by banning and blocking importation of this and that spewed out to the public defies common sense and logic. Until you look at the big picture and goal of a government who wants total control of the population.   As you're all aware, the Second Amendment was placed second for a reason.   Based on the ever increasing involvement of the federal government in our everyday lives, penalizing productive workers and redistributing their hard work and wealth to the generational lazy's and tens of billions of foreign aid to countries hostile toward U.S., entering un-Constitutional treaties and passing un-Constitutional law, etc. etc. At what point would it be considered a tyrannical and oppressive government I ask with puzzlement written all over the scowl on my face?
  19. WOW, that is cool.   Bobcats are very allusive / secret and are very seldom seen by most people much less this video. I've only seen one wild Bobcat in my 60+ years. I wouldn't be surprised if that cat escaped a wildlife rehabilitation center or was someone's pet based on how tame it appeared. It appeared to be healthy, well fed and accustomed to humans.
  20. Sorry to hear that, I feel for ya.   Like most of y'all, I hate thieves too. Chances and odds are probably 1 in a hundred catching them in the act. In the early 1970's late at night I caught a guy laying on his back on the drivers side floor board on my car cutting out my brand new Cobra CB radio I had just installed that day. It was in my apartment complex parking lot. I had a very bad temper back in the day and didn't appreciate what he was doing and caused myself more monetary damage.   It cost me a couple hundred dollars to get the drivers door support brackets replaced and the drivers door aligned from slamming the door against his protruding legs as hard as I could a number of times. The cops thought it was pretty funny until the damage to his legs was discovered in the hospital and they paid a return visit for a formal statement. Thought I was in big trouble but no charges were filed.
  21. The Office of the President has become all to powerful and Congress continues to shirk its duties. Not going into any details like the monetary system etc. but. Do you realize more laws are passed by the executive branch and executive order than the legislative branch?   Congress, more specifically, the House of Representatives holds the purse strings and if it doesn't get funded it doesn't happen. So, the executive branch has basically over taken Congress in power and authority IMO.
  22.     Let me ask you this? What's the reason the legal voting age was 21 years old, now eighteen? Why not 14 years old, 10 or eight years old?   As you all know it's a pipe dream but, the fastest and simplest way to turn this country back on course would be to add four requirements to voter eligibility.    (1) Must be a property owner... What moral right do you have to vote up my taxes for your welfare and you pay or contribute nothing.   (2) Must be gainfully employed,   (3) Must not be on any government teat. To prevent further drain of the shrinking utter.   (4) Must be fluent speaking, reading and writing English and a legal U.S. citizen.    I would like to add a #5, must have an I.Q. of at least 70 but...
  23. I'd like to see a return to the days of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr myself, on the White House lawn.   Pay-per-view of course with the proceeds going toward the national debt.
