  1. I'm so glad she's safe and sound!   I'm sure we all share your emotions and would try and move heaven and earth for our precious children. I can imagine what a challenge it was to restrain yourself in pursuit of your child. I don't ever want to experience that. Count your blessings that it didn't end up like so many of the programs on TV and cherish every moment with your loved ones.   I love happy endings.
  2. Some people seem to get all the luck.   A brand new best friend, an eye candy / gun porn store, a second home, a dinner time conversation piece, a second postal address, another reference for employment applications, a new place for community volunteers, a new fairy tale / war story environment...   You just hit the lottery, I'm envious!
  3. They're several things I have regretted in life that are seared into my brain. They are in order the following:   1. Showing up to watch an IDPA match without my pistol and gear.   2. Being a bad boy one year as a child and Santa bringing me a stick and coal ashes.   3. Telling a woman I loved her.   Please learn from my misfortunes and at least have everything you need when you show up and watch, but you won't be watching. You'll thank me, praise me, be forever grateful to me.
  4. Hildebeest, noun, <democrat>:  The act of consuming a minimum of a twelve pack of 5% beer and supplying two large paper sacks. The later, in case of a "Hildebeest" break or malfunction. The 5% brew to painfully sear in your memory the "Hildebeest" and plausible deniability.
  5. Right or wrong, here's my theory.   IMHO, there's not much in the long gun line that will devastate flesh and organs more than a 12 gage rifled slug. Spending the majority of my hunting life in Illinois where high power rifles are prohibited, that's what I used.   You all probably know the history behind and why the .357 magnum was created, what the Viet Cong and NVA gorged on prior to a Tet offensive and many an enemy combatant through out history. Man made drugs and adrenalin.   I witnessed and killed deer with both the 12 gage rifled slug and broad head arrow. In most cases, the deer ran about one hundred yards or so after a heart / lung shot with the slug. Most deer with a lethal broad head shot did not go as far. I'm thinking when the deer get amped up on estrogen and hormones during the "rut" mating season, it acts like certain drugs on humans and their brains don't immediately register their demise.   In addition, everyone knows the old bucks with monster racks are seldom seen and are harder to take than lesser younger bucks, agreed? That's because with age comes experience and wisdom. I associate that from my younger years where the little brain thought it was much smarter than the big brain, and apply it to the rut :ugh:
  6. It's one of those events that you never forget. I was in sixth grade and in the gym when they piped the news reports over the PA system standing next to the stage. Some events (such as 9/11) get seared in your brain for life.
  7. All the weddings I've been to in the U.S., the guests were very careful dancing with their AK'S. Goes to show, pick your dance partners wisely.
  8. Well, it certainly appears this is on going, as the school security guy calls the dad "Jim"  and refers to past episodes. Jim say's he been to jail before and doesn't mind going back again? I don't know all the facts naturally but, I suspect there's more to the story and the dad is pushing hard to document his point of view / school policy.   It's my conviction a parent (with no court orders, not intoxicated etc.) has the legal and moral right to pick up their children anytime and for any reason. If it results in continued disruptions and distractions to the students / teachers  and/or it's affecting the child's learning and grades from absenteeism, the school has the responsibility to maintain a positive learning environment without disruptions where administrative punitive actions can be applied.   Could it be a case of estranged parents?
  9. My Liberty Fat Boy came with and electrical outlet and I plugged my Golden Rod into it. In addition to keeping my weapons well maintained and oiled and in a conditioned environment, I use a couple of those desiccant bags you dehydrate in the oven and reuse. Also got one you plug into an electrical outlet for eight hours to recharge.   I sleep better at night knowing my investments are as well protected as I can make them :pleased:
  10. I don't drink diet soda, light beer or anything less filling because it doesn't "taste great"! I man-up and go for the gusto! Let me get the ball rolling and say, "I wish they made a .46" Let the caliber wars begin all over again! Anyone want a cold non diet beer with their popcorn or extra butter / salt?
  11.   I stand, sit and squat corrected! You are absolutely correct, my mistake.
  12.   Well...A responsible business owner as you put it wouldn't be in business for the long run if he didn't have a good business plan, followed his legal advice from his CPA and lawyer, and wouldn't be able to qualify for or accepted for liability insurance being that responsible employer.   A hard-core businessman does only think of his business and profit if he wants to stay in business! It always boils down to the almighty dollar.   I'm not saying it's the moral or right thing to do, contraire, one innocent life is more precious than a mountain of fiat worthless dollars and one has the legal and God given right to protect his / herself and family.   IMO, we got to this point where the almighty dollar is more valued than human life because of liberal politicians / laws / SCOTUS, greed, lawyers and case law, lobbyists, tree huggers, hippies, Mary Jane and free love, people in power having LSD trips 30-40 years later and chlorinated city water to name a few :ugh:
  13. Yoko Ohyea, Jane Fonda, Roseanne Barr, and the like have at least one thing in common. Any guesses?
  14. You get an A+ for imagination from me.   I wonder if Thomas Edison, Tessla, Ben Franklin and Frankenmonster started off that way    I'm working on an invention currently to send U.S. mail and packages efficiently to every U.S. residence through 1/2 propane lines
  15. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
  16. Great! Now you gave the government another idea on how to manipulate the planet, time and productivity. Personally, I'm tired of setting my 1,372 blinking, coo cooing, ticking, bonging, chiming, musical, etc. clocks twice a year.   Now thanks to your observation, we're probably going to see a 14-15-16 in the near future and as the government will claim the extra two months are needed to reach agreements in Washington :ugh:   It's just not enough for our government to try to completely control every aspect of our lives. They even want to control time and space itself
  17. Yea this is sound science alright... Just like the big bang theory, where our infinite universe originated from an infinitesimally small little dot compressed infinitely tight, then someone lit a cigarette and it exploded to what you see today.   Man certainly comes up with some mind blowing ideas in the name of science and their agenda's and belief systems.      No doubt you'll be seeing and hearing more of this "study" from freedom hating people in the near future.
  18.   It makes perfect sense! Insurance is in the business of "risk" vs. profit. As a business owner, what's the most scum bags can get during an armed robbery? A couple cases of cigarettes, rolls of lottery tickets, some liquor and maybe a couple hundred bucks in cash.   A business owner who authorizes / condones personal carry of their employees opens themselves up to a variety of expensive court proceedings and lawsuits for the actions of the employees. Even if an employee successfully stops a violent robbery and his life was in jeopardy and kills the BG(s), he will be sued by he momma. And if an innocent bystander is hit by an errant bullet, the owner(s) are still named and responsible financially.   Insurance is almost mandatory for business's these days and they dictate the terms of the policy and set the rules and regulations.   So, it's up to the individual employee to determine his / her own risk whether to dismiss company policy for their own personal protection and carry, and risk discovery and termination.   I myself prefer the latter.
  19.   Thank you, I appreciate the offer!   I'm waiting for a new sear spring from Wolff and a new metal main spring housing from Wilson Combat to arrive. Found a place near by I hear might do 1911's and I'm stopping by this afternoon to talk to them.
  20. Can anyone recommend a good 1911 gunsmith in the Paris, TN. vicinity?   Was having a problem with magazines not wanting to insert, so guess what...   Got a bag-o-gun now! Watched a lot of You Tube videos and say to myself, I can do that, yea right. With over ten hours trying to get the sear spring back in and operational, no luck. I'm doing it exactly like the videos show, evidently I'm not.   Anyway, this morning when it got light, I did find the frame of the Kimber a dozen yards or so in the weeds outside the garage window. The window repairman will be here tomorrow to replace the window the gun dropped through.
  21. Say Guys,   Just finished re-cleaning and inspecting my carry weapons and HD long guns, again. I guess it's a carry over from my military days to be meticulous in the care, maintenance and cleaning of firearms to insure dependability when it counts.   I've seen so many YouTube videos and renowned instructors preaching it's not necessary to keep that 1911, AR-15, Glock, etc. meticulously cleaned and inspected after every use, everything will be fine, it's not necessary to clean and inspect that weapon  after every range trip, really? What's your experience and point of view? I suspect many will disagree with my experience and point of view but, I'm still here aggravating all you guys :usa:      My experience and opinion is the 1911, M-16, M-60 and other designs hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot over the years. Albeit improvements have changed some with technology, manufacture and trial and error. But basically it's still a mechanism that is subject to wear, breakage, carbon, crud, fowling, dirt and malfunction, agreed?   Spending a combat tour overseas I learned a valuable lesson that could have caused loss of not only my life but, the entire air crew and those we were supporting on the ground. Getting back very late from a mission and long day, the crew chief and I were very hungry and extremely tired and sleepy. We even had guard duty in four hours so not a whole heck of a lot of time to eat and get some sleep. Then shortly after guard duty we were scheduled for another day of air combat missions.   We did preventive maintenance on the assault helicopter and refueled it for the following day when we got in, as per SOP. Being super tired, sleepy and hungry we decided to clean the mini guns and our M-60's. and M-16's the following morning after some chow and a nap.   Well, as luck would have it... We got scrambled a couple hours after we just got back, to provide air support for American troops in a fire fight with NVA. Fortunately we did refuel, PM the aircraft, reload the mini-guns and rocket pods before we left to eat and sleep.   Under heavy small arms fire and .50 caliber green tracer fire (night time & football size) on my port side on our first gun run, everything went as well as expected. On our second gun run, the mini gun on the starboard side failed and my M-60 failed also. In a high "G" turn pulling out of the gun run I was able to change barrels on the M-60 hoping that was the problem. Nope! I was not able to give suppressive fire on my side of the ship!   Long story short. Upon inspection, we determined the mini gun and M-60 failed when we needed them most due to being dirty and under lubed from the following days use. I'm here to tell ya, a M-16 just doesn't compare to the M-60 and an ammo can when you're puckered up so tight light can't escape. Had the pilots learned of our mistake not cleaning our weapons, we would have been in big, BIG trouble! We would have been more effective and safer had we just cleaned those damn guns in the first place.   Here's my point open for discussion... How confident are you with a weapon you previously fired and didn't clean and inspect and still carry or sit somewhere for personal / family protection? Are you betting your life on a dirty under lubed gun?
  22. Yea, there's a lot of things I don't understand and makes no sense. I sure hope it isn't by clever deceitful design?   Another thing that I don't understand and makes me irate is the Republican Party's stated / written platform. My constitutional views and values pretty much align with their party's stated goals, objectives and platform. Problem is, you seldom get a candidate that resembles their platform and have to settle for a R.I.N.O. that would make a better liberal democrat?   There's no doubt throwing in a good third party candidate(s) with constitutional / moral views siphons many more votes from the Republican Party than the Democraps. Makes you wonder if the divide and conquer tactic was devised by the opposing party. At any rate, it's been more effective getting the Democraps in power and look at where we're at. I believe were it not for third parties, we would not have had Clinton or Obama to deal with.   Our two party political system is here to stay for the foreseeable future. We really need to change the Republican Party from within and be singing on the same sheet of music. It's much easier and more efficient to overtake and change something, than to completely destroy it and rebuild something in its place. That's even a military strategy used throughout the ages.    Sad thing is, you're never going to get a majority of people with like views to support the common good. We always find a reason not to vote in good conscience for this or that candidate and waste a vote that basically goes to the other party.   Just the ramblings of an old retired fart.
  23. It appears this bloke doesn't know much U.S. history. There's this big creek running up and down that map, and if you notice, the states on the right hand side are all squiggly and don't even make good puzzle pieces. That's because the surveyors had access to all the moonshine they could drink prior to the war of aggression between the East and West.   The Confederates of the West didn't have access to moonshine, only rock gut whiskey and were almost able to ride a straight line, hold their liquor and had double vision. The moonshiners quickly lost their vision and wondered all over the place.
  24.   Hello hipower!   Yea me too! I'm down to about four hundred rounds. Haven't scoured the Internet for them yet, hoping they will start showing up like the other ammo / guns locally. Hope I'm not making another ammo mistake?
  25.   And you can take the above to the bank! Well actually, you'll be taking it all out of the bank and then some, selling your house and possessions and borrowing all you can for your legal defense and the suite that will surely follow. For decades you may regret ever expressing your opinion and intentions if crime visits you. Food for thought?
