  1. Guess what? Won me a BNIB Glock 19 Gen 3 on a raffle! Never won anything in my entire life except a few "free" tickets buying instant lottery scratch offs now and then. Been waiting my entire life for Dick Clark and Ed McMan to show up on my door step!   Already have a nice Glock 19 Gen 3, with True Glow TFO sights, a Talon grip, a 3-1/2 pound trigger, the hole plug for the handle and my "Infidel" slide plate cover, so...   Made a nice down payment for a Glock 26 and now to dress that one up too.
  2. By the authority vested in me and my HCP?
  3.   In the six years I've lived here, I've only seen two I flushed from the road taking a walk and never even heard any.   Deer and turkey up the ying yang but no quail. Must be a few isolated pockets in Tennessee where quail can thrive. We have more Yeti and Big Foot sightings around here than quail. I think the last quail sighting made headlines in our local paper?   That's going to be some mighty fine eating. If you don't mind ne asking, how are you going to fix 'em, baked, fried, smoked...
  4. What a boring morning...   When my feet rapidly hit the ground getting out of bed early this morning anxious to get my day started, a dreadful thought immediately occurred.   Darn! This is the best I'm going to feel all day long! No cotton mouth, no blurry vision and red eyes, no invisible five pound sledge hammer attacking me and keeping me constant company, no dry Ralph and his Buick and heave ho's?   I envy you guys that celebrated New Year's Eve! You have something very exciting to look forward to today   Maybe 2015?   Happy New Year!
  5. In their wisdom they became fools.
  6. Well, I'm not going to brag but just tell the facts.   I was into metal detecting for over ten years until my knees got so bad. I ended up graduating to a Minelab Explorer II and Grey Ghost ear phones. Every leisure moment was spent in old parks (well over 100 years old) and the Jefferson Barracks area(s).   Like anything else, when you have a desire to be the best you can be, spend time researching areas, talk to other detectorists and spend the amount of time doing it as I did, you eventually become very good at it, especially after you dig your first seated or Barber coin. I also joined the Midwest Coin Shooters in Jennings, MO. and had a blast hunting different old parks every month and our club hunts, etc.   I came up the ranks of equipment also with a cheap Whites Md, then a Garrett MD, then a ... Eventually getting the Minelab Explorer, IMHO the best detector for serious detecting.    So, most people believe all these parks are all hunted out? Well, I beg to differ, and if you get really good at it, it will more than pay for your detector and equipment. If you're really interested in some tips and some things I learned in a decade that turned pop tops, bottle caps and common plugs they call coins, into Indian Head pennies, Barber dimes, seated Liberty dimes, quarters, gold / silver rings, etc. Let me know.   Long story short. When I decided to retire in 2008 I sold "most" of the coins I found MDing on eBay. They sold for well over $25,000.00 and I wish I could remember even my screen name so you could check it out yourself. I still have a nice collection of rings, civil war era stuff and other very interesting finds. My gold / silver ring collection has been diminished since I started giving my daughter rings for birthday / Christmas stocking stuffers. Man it's a fun hobby when you eventually get good at it. Bad knees!   When you start realizing the effect of a coil going over trash and a coin at the same time, the ground freezing / thawing cycles affecting coins, halo effects, coil sizes and penetration, etc. You get promoted to second grade   I could write a dissertation on the subject.
  7. I had the same question, and turned to my buddy Youtube. Writing a receipt doesn't do justice compared to watching it all done on video with mouth watering and wiping slober off the key board :yum:
  8. That's a great project.   We currently have two WW II veterans (IMHO the greatest generation) in our gun club. They are thinning out at an alarming rate and soon their stories and experiences will be told no more in person.   A few days prior to last Veterans Day the wife and I were at Walmart and just checked out, we had a cart crammed full of groceries. Pushing the cart I noticed an old gentleman sitting on one of those courtesy benches they have in front of the check out aisles and wearing a black WW II Veteran's baseball hat. Naturally I had to stop and shake his hand and thank him for his service and a conversation developed when I asked where he served. To make a long story short, I lost track of time and was immensely interested in his service and the wife was agitated as the frozen / refrigerated stuff was melting and she's not the appreciative type that takes everything for granted.   I despise people who think freedom is free and they have a natural right to it and need to educate my spouse about the facts of life. What's a few groceries when you have the opportunity to hear first hand in person something very meaningful and special?
  9.   That might be but, it did a number on my clothes dryer
  10.   Nope, nope, nope...   Evidently you're not a fan of the program "Trauma in the ER"?   Nine out of ten gang-bangers that get shot with round ball .45 ammunition COM survive. Just like the Internet, if it's on TV it's got to be true.
  11. Yep, I know the story well. It's best explained to girl friends, wives and your children as, "do as I say and not as I do"   Glad everything worked out well this time but red flags seemed to be popping up one after another. Yep, I know how it is, been there - done that...
  12. When I was young my grandmother made the best fried chicken and meats I've ever had. Many years ago I went out and bought a medium and small cast iron frying pan and Dutch oven as she used and tried to duplicate her cooking without success. What male kid growing up is interested in how to cook like grandma? I experimented with seasonings, oil's and shortenings but not the same taste and goodness. The cast iron did make a nice difference though, even heat distribution, no added Teflon taste's, and iron lasts forever if kept seasoned, etc.   I'm a little ashamed to admit this but, it finally hit me one day not long ago what it had to be and tried it...   Lard and / or fat renderings. BINGO!   Probably not very healthy but WOW, what a taste difference!   Oh yea, at the flea markets around here they want small fortunes for cast iron cookware.   What's the deal on the "Griswold" cast iron cookware? Isn't all cast iron cooking utensils the same?????
  13. I'm going to bash some segments of our society and make it personal, regardless of the rules and political correctness because I have zero tolerance for arrogance and stupidity. Can you see my index finger extended straight out and pointing and my thumb 90 degrees vertical to it with my other three fingers curled in?   Let's start with liberals, career politicians, the immoral and the people running this country into the ground. This just defies common sense and slaps our hero's and defenders in the face and all American's should be ashamed and embarrassed for just the mention of it.   I speak of the proposal to cut our retired military veterans cost of living adjustments (COLA'S), pay and benefits, for putting their lives between U.S. and our enemies for 20+ years. How's that for a grateful nation? HO HUM... Let's hurry up and get to the sports results please. Where's America's outrage?   A proposal was introduced in Washington to reduce / eliminate wasteful spending for lifetime welfare payments, assisted housing, free cell phones, affordable healthcare, etc.. Riots and chaos have broken out in every major city in America, hundreds of law suites have been filed on the un-constitutional aspect of "for the welfare of the people" clause. MSNBC, the Washington Post, New York Times among dozens of other media outlets are livid about the cruel, discrimatory and unjust action of our government.   I take it personally when by force of law, the government takes a large portion of my labor and squanders and wastes it on worthless people, projects and programs. That would not even be possible without our military protecting our way of life and protecting our nation. The federal governments number one constitutional job is to defend this nation. To do so it takes a professional, well trained and loyal military, now they're degrading the service and sacrifice our veterans have given.   Just the latest and another example of penalizing the productive and foundation of this country and rewarding the unproductive and scourge of our society I guess.   That's my zero tolerance.
  14. Know what? I'm going to kick you on the right side of the face, and the funny thing is, there's not a damn thing you can do about it. (paraphrased)   Heard that somewhere and I'm thinking it was my wife that said and did that when I came home drunk and passed out in bed many, many mango seasons ago
  15. Well, let's have a logical and reasonable chat about all this crap... It's a people problem, not the instrument used.   All these public shootings and massacres didn't happen in such frequency and on a scale as they did when I was growing up, and that's my perspective, fact and reality. Something has drastically changed that is causing it? Naturally I have my own opinions on why we are where we are today but, one thing is for sure. Just like in the medical profession, people are trying to legislate laws and Band-Aids that address the symptoms and not the cures or root cause.   A gun is a more efficient weapon to induce mass casualties rather than most home made bombs, knives, or whatever and the liberals are capitalizing on that fact. They are focusing on the instrument used for murder rather than the cause and prevention.   I'm afraid more feel good measure legislation is in the pipe, more ammo / gun shortages and taxes are in our near future. People are very tired of all these mass shootings and want an end to it by any un-logical means possible.   I personally don't see a financially viable solution (taxes) for the hoards of mentally unstable and millions of potentially and violent felons out there, do you? Per capita and percentage, we have the highest incarceration rate in the world and highest mentally ill population. Why is that in the land of milk and honey?
  16. I believe the wise thing to do would be to call 9-1-1 and report it. If can be safely done, I'd follow the drunk driver at a safe distance and keep the 9-1-1 operator informed for interception by police.   What if your actions in getting involved changed the natural events that would have occurred for the worse, such as her being intoxicated and smashing her way out and driving away mad / scarred? What if by blocking her car you prevented the death of her children and another innocent driver in a head on crash that you will never be aware of?   Fortunately in this instance it worked out well and kudos to the concerned citizen.   When you insert yourself into a situation you assume some responsibility for the outcome, good or bad. In this day and age, more attention is paid to the negative than good. Just saying.
  17. No matter which side of the aisle you're on as far as punishment for a minor, the fact remains the damage is done, irreversible and is permanent. Monetary gain and compensation by the victims families will do nothing to relieve a lifetime of pain and loss most likely.   Sitting here it's easy for me to ponder and reason if justice was served and if another life would be destroyed by a long prison sentence and discuss it. Certainly on the face of it, the punishment didn't fit the crime and a travesty of justice occurred. An argument could be made that a minor deserves a second chance in life, as was successfully accomplished. An argument could be presented that there's a disease, gene, predisposition or human imbalance that causes every error in crime and human nature?   If I were the parent, wife, husband, brother, sister, etc. of one of the victims, I would have been more than outraged at the "punishment" meted out by the judge. Our judicial system is far from perfect. Being human and a loved one of the victim I would certainly entertain the idea of extracting my own justice myself and suffer the consequences, I get that.   We all know how lot's of money can change "justice" and verdicts in our legal system in many, many high profile cases. With our justice system and keeping our rights as citizens of a free nation, I can't even think of a solution to prevent further travesties of our judicial system?
  18. I got to admit that's pretty cool. That would be a great piece for the living room and a conversation piece. What do you suppose he used to melt the aluminum?
  19. Choose your battles wisely. Sun Tzu     It seems to me if we can't get the course of this country reversed at the voting poles, a constitution convention would be suicide. Since the Federal Government no longer recognizes the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution as the law of the land, uses a personal letter Thomas Jefferson wrote to a friend as an excuse for a law... Heck, rather than try to cite hundreds of verifiable examples I'll just get to the meat & potato's of it.   We're beyond turning this county around at the federal level using the legal established political process, it's going to take much more than that for "Hope and Change". A better strategy would be to take a stand and fight at the city, county and state level. The biggest power Uncle Sam has over a state is with holding federal taxpayer funds for projects if a state does not bend to their will.
  20. Well 6.8 AR. no argument here about your views, as most here are like minded, however...   Over time the government has created a large class of people not self reliant, lazy and dependent on the government for a living. Our children have been bombarded with liberal thinking, it takes a village to raise them and government knows best in the public school system., among lots of collective one world thinking.   Money, the elites, campaign contributions, big business and lobbyists are in bed together in Washington.   The majority of Americans get their information, vote and make opinions from the liberal media and press. I can't think of a single major media outlet that is unbiased and doesn't have an agenda. The days of objective journalism are long gone.   I'm all for a change in the right direction and getting our country back on course but... I'm leery of using an instrument that could very well leave dental impressions on my gluteus maximus.
  21. IMHO. In this day and age, a constitutional convention would scare the pants off of me. Let's not hope for desperate measures that could very well back fire on U.S.
  22. Man, I've seen small independent communist nations like New York and California that their military doesn't store that much ammo. Now I can visually see just how much ammo the DHS ordered and what a "billion" actually is
  23. Yea 6.8AR we are close.   By no means was I disparaging you or the link. I get a little carried away on the subject of fascism, socialism and communism with my "ism" phobias. I guess my point is...   Through far from perfect on equal rights for all, our founders were educated wise men who experienced tyranny first hand and bequeathed U.S. with a elegant summary of their grievances to the king and gave U.S. our unalienable rights granted by God, not the state. That being said, one would have to dismiss God to revert to communism normally. The government and atheistic / communistic organizations have almost removed all vestiges of God in our schools, money, Christmas displays, sporting events, etc.     What the government gives, the government can take back. I'm not much on conspiracy theories but, I believe there's a concentrated conspiracy effort underway for a nanny state, to make U.S. all equal, equally poor except for the rulers and elite. The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable IMO.   In this modern age, the Constitution is no longer the law of the land or is turned upside down by SCOTUS with scholarly one world thinking. Look at all the laws passed, treaties signed, executive orders (law) issued by the Federal Government that is clearly un-constitutional.   See, I got myself all worked up again
  24. There's nothing new under the sun. There has been and always will be evil people who's goal is power, money, suppression of religion and the suppression / enslavement and control of the population. Every country on the globe throughout history has experienced this fact. Antarctica excluded of course, but that's a continent :ugh:    Our 237 year experiment in democracy and a Constitutional Republic is no exception and will not stand the test of time. On it's surface to the layman, communism and socialism might seem very fair and reasonable, think welfare, Obummer Care, social security and all our freebies. It's man's human nature not to want to physically work and many turn to politics / government jobs. But in every case, business and capitol looks for a more favorable environment, people have no motivation to work hard and get ahead, the economy and infrastructure crumbles and the people eventually revolt. Comrade, they pretend to pay us and we pretend to work. Starting to look familiar somewhere maybe?   You don't need to be a scholar or have a masters degree in philosophy / political science to understand human nature, the history of the world, and the path the elites are shoving down our throats, with the sheep asking for more, more, more.   Sorry for my rant Comrade TGO'S.
