  1. If you ever think the Internet doesn't have much information on you, think again. I've never been on Face Book, twatter or the other social media sites and I'm careful about personal and family matters, maybe not?   Anywho... I needed to get the phone number of a buddy I lost that now lives in Selmer, TN. Easy enough, "Internet White Pages", type the name, city and state, hit the find button, BANG, there it is.   I notice a little tidbit about finding other people he may know, his neighbors, a map of where he lives, etc. So, I go to that site and type in my name and get a shock. Of course it's a pay to use site for something like $29.95 per use but the free information floored me.   It had my ex-wife listed there under her last husband's name. We divorced in 1976 and I never even met or talked to her late deceased ex-spouse. He late husbands name, Some old friends and neighbors I haven't seen in decades.   It's scary to think of the information anyone can get on someone for a few bucks.   Now, if I can get that kind of information as a private citizen on someone with a few key strokes and a couple of bucks. Think of the information a cop following behind you and calling you in can get, someone who maybe wants to intentionally make your life miserable, someone who wants to sell you something... The possibilities are endless.   Combined with the Internet and company's tracking your spending habits, websites you visit, forum posts, searches you make, etc., Big Brother and his sisters and 2nd cousins twice removed have a wealth of what you thought was private information.   Guess I've been a little naïve and eyes wide shut. This sure was a wake up call.
  2.     Leroy,   The above is copy right infringement stolen from my thoughts and there's got to be a law somewhere against that
  3. I hear tell a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one? If that be the case, you'll want Butter Knife Dennis1209 out of your kitchen drawers.   When my butter is very hard and I need two pats of it for my toast or something I use technology myself. I get out my sharpest knife and run the flame of a Bic lighters over the blade for about 15 seconds and... problem solved, repeat for additional pats.
  4. Most of my spring changes have been pleasant, such as a 3.5 pound spring for my Glock 19, a 20 pound replacement recoil spring for my 1911 Kimber, etc.   The spring replacement, taking off the spring of a new Victor "Rat" trap and installing it on one of my wife's wooden clothes pins every four years to stand at the voting booth with such pressure forcing my nostril's closed, is a painful and unpleasant experience. Then coming home and using a dozen of those nasal strips to open and undo the damage for a breath a fresh air.   But hey, at least I get out and vote for the lessor of two weevil's.
  5. You can hear the fuel pump charge up the first 5 seconds when the ignition switch is turned on as normal. Took off the fuel line that attaches to the top of the fuel filter and turned the ignition switch on and no fuel came out. So now I'm assuming the fuel pump went bad?
  6. Thanks guys!
  7.   1998 Dodge Ram w/ 5.9 liter Cummings diesel engine.   It's possible I have some water in the system, and no doubt it froze during the cold weather. But it should have been melted the last three times I tried it when it was 40 and 43 degrees outside I would think.
  8.   Cummings 5.9 liter
  9. Even with the temperatures in the low 40's?
  10. You boys are probably a little young but... With them there caps and with Mom's sawed off broom stick and a buddy. GAME ON!
  11. Well, the other day after the cold snap, went out to start my Dodge Ram diesel pick up and it will not hit a lick it acts like it is fuel starved. Thought there might be some water in there somewhere so waited until weather got above freezing last couple of days and tried a few more times.   It fired up fine prior to this last blast and being a diesel I'm leaning towards a fuel problem. Any suggestions guys?   I did not treat the fuel with anything prior to the cold snap as I was not going to go anywhere in those temperatures and it has 1/2 tank of fuel.   Thanks
  12.   Not me... Caught me completely buy surprise
  13. There seems to be two camps on Copper Head snake bites? Half of what I've read and seen on programs suggests that Copper Head venom is the weakest of all pit vipers and not much worse than being stung by a wasp? Just keep an eye out for symptoms for 24 hours and disinfect the bitten area to prevent infection.   The other camp says they are highly venomous and worse than a Cotton Mouth, to get to a hospital ASAP?   I suspect it's like bees, wasp's or spider bites, whether or not your the 1% or so that's allergic to the toxins or not.   With the number of Copper Heads around here I come into contact with, I'd hate to have that kind of medical bill and waste my time in a boring hospital if it's like a bee sting event, should I ever get hit by one.
  14. My heat pump (York) is saving me a bunch in electric bills (16 SEER) as compared to last year. Albeit it is locked out at the moment during this abnormal weather and using 100% efficient electrical resistance heat. But my wood burner is keeping us nice and toasty during this cold snap.
  15. Since I walked 200 yards to the mail box and my mustache was completely frozen. One hard wipe would have done the hot wax treatment!   With frozen mustache and ice cycles eight inches long hanging off of it, I proceed to the chicken house two hundred yards away to collect the eggs. As the tops of my ears and finger tips were turning a nice dark shade of black, my snot the size of a grape frozen under my nose, I collected the eggs.    The first egg I picked up was cracked, so I threw it against my aluminum pole barn in disgust and put a nice dent in it. Long story short, every egg was cracked and frozen harder than my ice cubes in my freezer. That's with a 200 watt light and heated water pan in the small coop.     Forgot my second grade physics, that heat rises and water freezes pipes below 32 degrees. Had my wood burning stove going and staying nice and toasty upstairs and the furnace basically off. Went down to the basement this afternoon to retrieve a Glock and install a Talon grip on it for something to do. Open the basement door and proceed down the stairs and notice I could see my breath and how cold it was with the furnace off down there. Asked the wife to stick her tongue to the well pressure tank to see if I had anything to worry about? Guess she's not as dumb as I thought    I guess I shouldn't complain, my son lives up around the St. Louis area across the street from a Walmart super center and walked there this morning. He sent us a picture of the meat(s) displays and except for maybe a dozen items, were completely empty?   If we ever have an actual emergency, can you imagine how fast the grocery shelves will become empty?   Well, the water from my moustache and nose is thawing and dripping all over this key board so have to change cloths
  16. Class, class...   Sensitivity training today @ 1300 hours today!   Politically Correct (PC) training at 1500 hours today!   Followed by a roast pork dinner @ 1700 hours.
  17. Yum! That's a meal...
  18.   And that's a FACT!   No argument here!
  19.     Yea! The more you shop, the more you save, spend yourself to oblivion, it's all the same! That jingle your fancy?    But yes, you're absolutely correct, we have it made being able to go buy anything 24/7, and I'm very grateful for it. I've been to a number of countries that envy us and our supermarkets.   Now, let's work on people who can't read a big damn sign in the air that say's, "10 items or less". Who are the illiterate that can't read, who taking their pointed index finger going, one, two, three... Can't count to even ten, much less 100? Ever had anyone butt in line in front of you because they're moe impotent than you?   When I was in school, Dick, Jane, Sally and Spot did a fine job in daily living. Now... Foo sta, WIC, EBT and use owes me is the educational requirements for a successful shopping experience at Walmart.   Just saying...
  20. You didn't tie the green (ground) wire into the black (hot) or white (common) at the switch did you?   If that's white and green connected at the wire nut (pop).
  21. Gee, thanks a lot, I thought I was over it until you smacked me in the face with Walmart again.   Yesterday the wife decided she wanted to make stuffed peppers for supper but was missing a jar of Ragu sauce for the fixins. I wanted to get a gallon of imitation chocolate ice cream so I went with her. We left home and arrived at Wally World at about 1:15 P.M. and immediately seen the parking lot was about filled to capacity. I don't know if it was the impending cold weather coming this way or a mass exodus of people who got fired from their jobs that day, but...   There was not one shopping cart in the cart storage area, no big deal I guess because we ended up just getting four items we hand carried to the express "ten items of less", you know the one, the one illiterates and the mathematically challenged always use? We were sixth in line and one "lady" had 57 items I counted, and that was only the one's I could visibly see.   The regular check out lines were so deep, you couldn't navigate the front of the store to reach any of the aisles and half the available checkout lanes were open. Anyway, standing their with a gallon of frozen imitation ice cream by the handle in one hand, and a jar of Ragu in the other, and the wife holding two items we patiently waited, and waited and waited.   The first two customers getting checked out, the ones who slept through Dick, Jane, Sally and Spot in school and played hooky during the math 2 + 2 = 4 test in the first grade, apparently had their plastic rejected and submitted a check which was handed back. Their potential purchases went into shopping carts that started blocking the shoppers check out aisles exits.    I best not get into the shift, break or whatever employee change at the register and the three price check looong delays least my profanity get the better of me. After the rest of the people wearing that blue / white rectangular identification around their necks got through, we were in line slightly over and hour.
  22. I'll bet wild pheasant hunting is fun! But I wouldn't know about it.   My experience with canned hunts at Carlisle Lake, IL. by IDNR was more of a triathlon than hunting. Those semi-tame birds they release would not fly until you ran them 100-200 yards. I sure did get worn out :ugh:   With the amount of pheasants they released daily that didn't get shot, you'd think that county would be loaded with them. Nope. But for a $15.00 daily permit of one ring neck and one hen, sure was some fine eating out of the smoker.
  23. I kind of think the coyotes are not the reason we don't have any quail around here and few rabbits. Left alone with no interference the eco system will balance itself out and If that were the case we wouldn't be over run around here with deer and turkey? The turkey are easy tasty prey when nesting and the pullets and young jakes, fawns, bunnies, etc. make for an easy meal. Quail normally will nest over night in the nastiest thick thorn infested thicket a coyote would have nightmares about going into.   I don't buy the habitat and study theories by wild life departments and universities either. There's plenty of pheasant / quail habitat around here and quail use to be here. I was always told pheasant couldn't survive / breed South of the Mason-Dixon line (more or less) was because there was something in the soil they lacked. Personally I believe there's something in the soil around here the quail don't like, like fertilizers, pesticides and weed control man-made products.   That's my study and it didn't cost $500,000.00 either
  24. I understand the money issue, I really do.   IMHO for home defense I don't skimp on what I'll be comfortable with and quality. I saved up and got the Surefire forearm and light for my Remington 870 HD 12 gage. I'm glad I did and didn't try a save a buck. Well worth the investment and saving for.   Pressure switch on the forearm, easy to operate controls, etc. Just saying...
