1. Thanks, I think it turned out pretty well. It's a working gun, so I think the parkerized finish is a good fit. Those aren't original to the gun, the original grips were checkered wood that are worn completely slick. The ones in the pic were about $30 on eBay. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
2. It shot very well before the work, but I've only put six rounds through it since I got it back together. I wasn't sure about putting the t-grip back on since they are hard on the finish and grips but it's so much easier for me to shoot with it that I went ahead. I'm thinking a black one might look more at home though. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
3. King, I finally got around to finishing mine. I wish I had taken some before pictures though. Did yours end up being a shooter? Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
4. I received an email from Amazon about taxes while I was reading this thread. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
5. I like 3.5 of bullseye over a 158 swc for 38 special. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
6. I'm a former contract security manager and current employee of one of the agencies that Tanker mentioned, PM me if there's any questions I can answer for you. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
7. I always put temp tags in a ziplock bag and attach them in the normal location, that might solve one of your issues. The tint law is strictly enforced in some areas, and almost ignored in others. I've ran 15% all the way around for a long time and have yet to even have my tint mentioned during a traffic stop. 8. I could go for this. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
9. That's the one I have, I think it's very nice for the money. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
10. I concur with 99% of what's been said, but the aftermarket is coming around for the Axis and Edge. One of those still wouldn't be my first choice though. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
11. Yeah, that's an older 3g model, released in 2011. It's worth $50 or so in good shape. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
12. Learn something everyday I guess. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
13. Really? I didn't know that. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
14. I haven't seen that one, you'd think we frequent the same shops though... Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
15. If that doesn't work out for you, look up Quick Cash Pawn on Rossville Blvd. Nice guy and a clean store, he does GA to TN transfers for GT Distributors customers for $25 TOTAL. I don't know if the charge would be the same for what you need to do though. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
16. I have family in management at that store, and I'm not allowed any preferential treatment on ammo. Not a phone call, box or two behind the counter or anything. What you experienced sucks, but I do believe it was an isolated incident. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
17. Very nice! I love seeing these old guns put back into service. I'm getting ready to finish up a similar project, this OP wasn't quite as far gone though. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
18. I have a 4x32 Prostaff in Warne rings on my tree rat rifle, it's a very nice combo... Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
19. I agree with everyone else, mine is nothing like what you described. I do prefer the red only model after owning both. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
20. Well crap. I work every Sunday evening. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
21. Good deal for sure, I feel like mine was a bargain for the $160 I paid. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
22. I tried to stick with powders and charge weights that would work in both. I got the best groups and nice velocity with a case FULL of Unique. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
23. I thought I was pushing it with my loads, when I saw your post I about flipped out. Ha! The furtherest I've ever shot mine was 100 yards, but it shot extremely well there. I think man sized targets at 200 is more doable than most folks think. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
24.
I use both ways on mine. Extra buckshot - brass down, slugs - brass up.
This is what I do also. Brass down is better for me when topping off the tube, but brass up for loading into the port. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
25.
Figuring a 147gr at 1500 muzzle velocity (doable from a carbine barrel), you still have 300+ ft/lbs at 200 yards, and that will ruin your whole day if delivered in a vital area. It's also dropping more than 3 feet at that range, so basically, the bullet will do its job at a greater distance you can count on making consistent hits anyway.
Do you have any load data for that? I've tried to break 1500 with a 124gr XTP and haven't been able to get there, I always either run out of case capacity or hit pressure signs. The best I've been able to do is 1425 with the 124... Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
