Oops! I should have concealed my gun.
DRM replied to deerslayer's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Is discussion of him being mentally ill really an "assumption" on my part? Read more: ABQNews: Melee Breaks Out Over Gun At West Side Garcia's ABQjournal.com: Albuquerque Journal login page Subscribe Now Albuquerque Journal Open Carrier Arrested After Scuffle | USA Carry Customer attacked at Garcia's restaurant | KOB.com Granted - innocent until proven guilty and all that... but am I really going out on a limb by saying mental illness was at play here? -
Sounds like what I am looking for... I don't see them on DPMS's website?

Yeah, that's the ticket - don't discuss the merits of the actual incident... -

Really? You mean you find that more peculiar than him claiming to be a federal agent? Or how about him trying to take the guy's gun from him in a physical confrontation while being unarmed himself? You're really basing your position on the verbal claims of a fruitcake? -

Again, you fail to understand mental illness and how unpredictable it is. Garcia's voice may have been the trigger, or a noise in the kitchen, or the color of the walls. The gun may just just been part of the scenario the mentally ill person created when he snapped. Point is - it doesn't mean it has anything at all to do with the gun. -

And agreeing with *this* position doesn't mean we have to agree with *him*... just glad to see another person who can manage to understand the difference -

Actually, it's called "mentally ill", and the fact that the possible trigger for his mental episode happened to be a gun really has nothing to do with the gun itself. -

Sadly, there is a small contingent of mouthy individuals who decided to take it upon themselves to ruin this thread. The only people who don't recognize this fact, are the ones involved. -

Thanks, Fallguy. Like I said - regardless of what a person thinks about Kwik - should he win his case we ALL get more freedoms (and less "fees" out of our pockets for the HCP process, to). -
What does the steel A pillar look like under the trim? Is there enough metal to weld something to? Are you looking for a solid handle, or just a "pull me up" handle to assist in entry? I'd probably remove the trim, weld in a plate and a threaded bung (cutting a hole in the trim for the bung to stick through), then find a suitable OEM handle from a junkyard and bolt that in place for a nice finished look. There are tons out there in various colors - I bet you can find one you like that is low profile to not impede your vision and meet your needs.

I'm not your "son" and don't appreciate the condescending tone you resort to when you lack substance in your position. The link showed a mentally ill man who randomly walked into that place and flipped his lid. The very nature of what happened shows that the guy was just plain nuts - totally random, didn't even make logical sense nor was there a criminal purpose to the event. He didn't go to Garcia's to rob the place and decide to "take out" the OC patron first to get him out of the way. But if you want to think a wack-job claiming to be a federal agent who tried to man-handle a gun from a patron's holster while said patron was eating a meal proves your point - you just have at it. If your reasoning against OC is to protect yourself from unpredictable lunatics - then you might as well never leave your house. I've seen a mentally ill person react violently to me holding a weedeater. I sure don't use that as logic to stop trimming the edges of my lawn -

This statement is 100% incorrect; a win in his case most assuredly gives us all more freedom. -

You know, you're constant insults and tripping over yourself to reply to my posts has passed from amusing to mildly annoying. You clearly can't debate facts, so you result to this kind of childishness. Do us all a favor - think more, post less. -

Then what I said does not apply to you. -
Handles for what vehicle? Bolt or weld on? Where do you want it (Dash, attached to cage, etc.)?

FYI - I've never dropped to prone with any of my AR's, nor do I intend to any time soon. And since my gets used for killing more animals than paper targets, I prefer not to attach too many accessories to it then beat it against a tree That said - the "heavy" comment is appreciated... very good to know. I'll be honest - I really just want a handguard that has one rail on top and one on bottom. I'm not really a fan of grabbing a handful of rail all the way around, even with covers in place.

I mean the fanboi's here bash on Kwik because they think it's the cool thing to do, 'cause all the "popular kids" are doing it. -
So what makes them so bad? Is there something magical that a handguard does at 1200 rounds per year that it doesn't do at 200 rounds? I'm interested in specifics...

As do I - and I am very glad to see it move forward. Plus, I'll be giggling and peeing my pants if Kwik is the spark that burns down some of this state's crappy laws, to the benefit of all of us... especially the "yes men" that post to TGO. -
Thanks for this thread - when I looked at front railed handguards for my 20" AR, There wss no way I was going to pay for a hand guard that costs 1/3 as much as my entire gun did in the first place. I might just pick up a UTG handguard, especially at the $70 price point I saw.

I can't get the video to load... but why are we assuming the gun was the cause for this guy being targeted? The article does not say that, does the video? -
What would you do in a situation like this?
DRM replied to Motasyco's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No, he's not "fixin to kill me" Last time I checked, federal agents have a *little* bit of training that when a bystander sees a masked man attacking and tasering a woman, that bystander *might* just try to get the person to stop attacking and tasering said woman.
