As soon as I can sign up a guaranteed lock-in tax rate to never go up to cover a public employee's legacy pension, I'll agree to public employee's deserving a legacy pension regardless of the finances of the government. Why does your a teacher get to continue to receive that pension at my expense, just because a bad deal was made years ago on my (The taxpayer's) behalf? Why do I have to pay more of my tax dollars just so that teacher continues to get a benefit that the private sector phased out over 20 years ago, because it was financially unsustainable? Teacher pensions do not exist in a vacuum.

But they/we aren't picking on teachers. When they agreed to a public job - a job that is paid by our/my tax dollars - teachers agreed that the average citizen now has a vested interest in both the outcomes (education of our children) and costs associated with those jobs. Sorry man, it's part of what she signed up for.

Please don't use this straw man... please.

She doesn't deserve a pension. *I* don't deserve a pension. She and I both deserve whatever we can negotiate on the open market. A union games the system, and holds employer (in this case - we the people) hostage in the bargaining process. She has not negotiated a pension on the open market, therefore she does not deserve a pension.

Mildy amusing that everyone around here knows these discussions drift off fairly quickly... every - single - time But somehow it's the "new guy's" fault, not the guys who participate in driving the thread off course... every - single - time -

I didn't confuse anything - I took your reply at face value. What is the pro-OC camp? I'm not in any such camp. I'm in the pro "people do whatever they want unless there are legitimate and valid reasons why they shouldn't" camp. What you pointed out earlier is the correct position - that there is not sufficient evidence to prove on way or the other, and in light of that the proper course of action is to let each man or woman decide for themselves, based on their own needs, desires, and situation. Unfortunately, the real problem here are the CC people who are so militant about THEIR position being right, that they start making assumptions and presumptions any time someone disagrees with them... such as several here who assumed I am some kind of OC fanatic. As I already stated - I have OC'd a handful of times since I have had my permit, and really have no desire to accelerate that count any time soon. I looked at my carry needs, situation, and requirements and decided that pocket carry was the best option for me. I have plenty of friends all across this country and several others - I'm not crying if a few mouthy internet posters don't want to come over and play kick ball with me any time soon But at least I'm aware of how to debate the issue, instead of the low-brow approach many of the CC people take when they immediately skip to the personal attacks. On that you are 100% correct... I did not clarify the OP as I should have. Sorry, but this is a matter of opinion... I happen to disagree that what was given was what I asked for. You don't say? Really? What opinion is that, exactly? This is incorrect. There was one example presented, to which I disagreed fell under the criteria of what I asked. Me disagreeing with it - and giving my reasoning - is not the same as your claim that I am dismissing *all* opposing views for simply being opposing views. There is a difference. As is the childish personal attack style several of the posters to this forum are so quick to jump to when they lack anything of substance to say. I would think by now anyone paying attention would realize I'm well aware of the difference in how to discuss a position whether you hold that position or not... but I guess not. It's pretty clear who the anti-OC people are... they are the ones who barged in telling everyone they already had this all figured out and why everyone else is wrong I don't engage in shenanigans... I heard you can get STD's that way. -
I was doing some reading last night that cold blueing is actually possible on some zinc alloys... Re-Finishing Zinc Pot Metal replica guns I have a Lorcin 380 I figured would be a good object for me practice on and not care about the results.

Good workers, bad workers, and all the workers in between are treated as equals, similar to how a communist society would be... I don't think that is the right word, but I agree with the concept you are describing.

This shows one of two things: Either you have excelled in your field (good for you!) or she has wasted time and money on a Master's degree for which the open market will not compensate her to a level you/she finds acceptable. If degrees meant we "deserved" more money, then the smart man would start working immediately after college and keep getting degree after degree at night just to up his pay scale. In the real world - that doesn't work. But for some reason - in the beurocratic system of our schools, that is exactly how pay scale is determined: Not what you know, or how good you are at educating children - but how long you've been doing whatever job (good, bad, or mediocre) and how many degrees you can pile up.

Unions would never exist in a communal, or communist society for two main reason: 1. There would be no need for an intermediary between the people and the government because a communist government would have already distributed wealth and workload equally among the people. 2. Unions are by their very nature functions of a class system. They exist solely for the purpose of promoting and benefiting *their* class (union members) to the highest status they can possibly negotiate, without regard for anyone else. They are by definition class advocates. I see how someone could want to vilify unions - especially in their current form - however equating them to communism is barking up the wrong tree.

Well you negative Nellies can hold that position, but I'm still wishing on a star that this one works out in our favor -
I disagree. Unions are a necessary agent in the absence of reasonable governmental regulations. But when the people - through the government - put reasonable laws in place to protect workers, unions shift from serving the people, to simply serving themselves (i.e. - they exist just to keep existing).

JAB, I just don't subscribe to that kind of defensive, "sky might be falling" outlook - never have, probably never will. Always worried you're going to lose the table scraps they let us have is admitting defeat right from the start... IMHO, of course. -

I think that is a fair assessment. My main gripe is in discussions about this, it seems the anti-OC side act as if it is a foregone conclusion that their position is correct, which it clearly is not. It is - as you say - more of an emotional position than a factual one. -

You sure do think you've got it all figure out, don't you? I've already figured you out - you're one of those people who posts and posts and doesn't have anything of substance to say. As for putting you on ignore - no thanks. I ain't going anywhere, and your lack of substance and immaturity becomes more evident every time you follow me around and reply. Keep it coming, Mr. security guard! -

Punisher84, I was under the impression these sub forums were for discussing the specific issues described in the forum headings. Out of respect for the forum's atmosphere, I've tried to adhere to those guidelines. If you want to play internet tough guy, feel free to start a thread in the O/T forum and we can carry on there. I can guarantee I've been at this game longer and sparred with more competent verbal opponents that you seem to be able to present, so give it your best shot -

FYI, you're still doing it. -
I have one similar to this that I use for a variety of things, from hiking to kayaking. Plenty of room to carry water, some food, basic supplies, and a handgun if you choose. You could drop in a smaller bladder and gain interior space in the main compartment too.

When you are done talking about me and want to talk about the topic, let me know. Thanks. -
If you broke the OE handle, I'd start with checking to see if the OE mounts are still sturdy and usable. If so, I'd figure out a way to just get a sturdier handle to mount right back in it's place. If you were closer I'd offer an afternoon in the shop and I bet we could whip up something that would work for you...

I agree - that is closer to the spirit of what I was asking. But if that is the direction you want to go, a better comparison would be researching if banks without guards are targeted more than banks with guards, or if the bank robber knew there was a guard in place prior to attempting the robbery and if/how that impacted his decision to continue with his plans. -

Here you go again with your childish jabs, and in reply to a mod's own words: You're right - no need for that.
