    Off-Road 4x4

I know there are more than a few 4x4 people on this forum that haven't piped up... Built this one over the last few years... It was pulled in the shop this weekend to start tearing apart so I can build a full tube buggy out of the axles and some other stuff.
  2. I really want to bag me a 'yote... Saw one last Saturday, but he was moving fast and a little far off (400+ yards).
  3. At least the walking dead are predictable... those pesky living ones are the dangerous variable to worry about.
  4. I had no clue about the scoring thing - but the taxidermist *guessed* it was somewhere around 130ish. Again - no clue what that means, but I guess it's pretty good? I was just happy to shoot something besides does and spikes - lol!
  5. Thanks. Makes sense, but sucks all the same.
  6. Fallguy - can you share a link to the details of that change? I was not aware. Thanks!
  7. Dropped him off last night to have a head mount done
  8. When the State legislature gives us conflicting laws - I hardly call it "moot". What it means is, someone needs to write a letter to the SAG for clarification on the contradiction in law. I am wondering why nobody has done this yet, as SAG opinions carry quite a bit of weight on the state level.
  9. But the Fed law us contingent upon the interstate commerce (Streeeetched) clause, correct? The basic question here is what grounds does the Fed have to even require you to contact them? Simply saying "we are the Fed and we supersede state law" is not legal justification... It seems you're using a bit of circular logic in your answer - that we can't because we can't.
  10. I've been away for a while... but has anyone seen mention of anyone testing this law by building - in state, and for their own uses - a suppressor?
  11. Thanks guys. I was down in a valley, so the wind wasn't as bad, but it still was blowing, mixed with light snow/sleet at times. The fact that the wind kept changing directions made me really doubt I would see anything, but I guess when it is that mixed up - they can't count on smells either. I had actually spooked another buck when I was walking in to the stand at about 1:30, he was calling on his way out letting the world know, so I was worried that would ruin it for me.... but I guess not.
  12. Took this one about 3pm this afternoon... Got a late start at this deer hunting thing - only my second year (I'm 34), and this is my 6th deer. By far - the largest I've taken.
  13. Good call. They generally have brick exteriors, almost no glass down low, very few entries to barricade... Not bad.
  14. I am sadly disappointed nobody else has fired up MSPaint and added their highly skilled technical plans to mine.
  15. As usual - simple fix... lol. When I had checked it previously - I simply checked to see that the screws were tight. This time, I removed the screw holding the floor plate in place, removed it entirely, then reinstalled it. Upon re-installation, I noticed that if you were not careful, the floor plate mounting bracket would "ride up" on the stock wood, causing the entire assembly to sit too far forward, and a bit too high off the stock surface. Making sure the mounting hinge was seated properly this time, then tightening the screw achieved the proper fit that I was looking for. Thanks guys - made me slow down and pay attention to the small details
  16. The price sucks, but out of stock anyway: MOYERS : RUGER® 77 STEEL FLOORPLATE - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools No picture to verify - is this is? Still too expensive, IMHO. RUGER : FLOOR PLATE ASSEMBLY, LONG ACTION, MATTE, SS - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools I did read up a bit and maybe I can adjust things a bit. I do recall the retaining nub that contacts the trigger guard latch on mine is rounded off, not the square face I see in the picture at the top link I posted.
  17. Trigger guard latching mechanism and spring all seem to function well. The door however seems to be a bit of a sloppy fit - both side to side, and fore/aft. I will take a closer look as soon as I get home. As for "reinventing the wheel" - it seems one of my favorite (not) pastimes lately has been to spent time in the shop building a tool, so I can then build the part...
  18. When in Rom... wait, what?
  19. Sorry if my terminology is off - lol. New-to-me Ruger M77, the magazine trap door underneath is kind of sloppy, and the slightest jostle - or firing the weapon - pops it open and all ammo is dropped noisily to the deer stand mesh (still got 2 that morning - humph!). Anyway - does anyone know what the metal trap door is made of? If weldable - my first thought was to simply enlarge the retaining "button" for better engagement with the release. Second thought was to drill the button out, then install a small adjustable cap head screw to get the engagement I need - lock in place with locktight, then countour the cap head for optimal fit. Or is this as simple as just ordering a $10 replacement part from Ruger? Any suggestions appreciated
  20. 1. When you run out of food at your house - the logical step is to find the nearest home to your, and try to secure additional resources, then the next house, then the next, etc. 2. #1 assumes you already have supplies - those without supplies are going to be on the move, and desperate. At some point, they will want the supplies YOU obviously have (since you're sitting tight and still alive). 3. #2 is further magnified by the MASS EXODUS you will see from metropolitan areas (like Nashville). Survivors from areas like that will flood out of the city, and WILL seek out refuge somewhere... possibly at YOUR house.
  21. How is that question any different than if you stayed at home? New people show up - you have to decide if they are a risk, asset, or liability - and proceed accordingly.
  22. FireFox + Download Helper + playlist.com Just another option...
  23. I made this for another forum, but thought I would post it here and see what others came up with. Basically, I see two options for myself: 1. Go remote, and struggle to seek out supplies. 2. Go to supplies (populated areas), and deal with increased zombie count I used to think I would go remote, however after some consideration I think going to the supplies is not a bad idea. My first idea was this: My second thought was a Lowe's or Home Depot. TSC has some advantages over HD - namely the smaller size makes it more easily defensible, and the supply of clothing is a big plus. Otherwise - many of the same features of a HD: tools, generators, materials to build/fortify/etc., seeds, grains, *some* foods, propane, "Caged" exterior section, flat roof for clear line of fire, growing food, etc. However, after some thought, a HD or Lowe's might be better - despite being MUCH larger and harder to defend/fortify... 1. FAR greater access to building supplies - namely wood (does TSC carry much wood if any?) 2. HD's racking system makes for a SUPERB defensible inner elevated living area. You could basically build your living quarters on the top shelves of the racking system and have an effective inner sanctuary that you could retreat to should the walls be breached. Anyway, that's my thoughts on it... Anyone else?
  24. Brentwood Regions across from Chik-Fil-A is posted.
  25. Last year was my first time deer hunting (at age 33) - I think I am hooked now. Got in on rifle season last year, picked up a bow for this year too - gotta get in some practice though. Luckily, there is dove season coming on to keep me occupied
