  1. Larry, I alwaysdisassemble an old gun before shooting it to verify its integrity. I don't wantsomething to go wrong the first time I shoot it. I don't trust anyone when itcomes to the safety of a gun. I have also read that a lot of good guys and bad guys liked this gun. Baby face Nelson had one.
  2. Just won a Winchester Model 1907 from an auction. Can't wait to get it. I had never heard of this gun but I love old guns. I have read a lot about this gun on the net. Does anyone have any experience with this gun? Now I just have to find some ammo.
  3. My last one was for 37 in a 40. Yes I was going too slow. Columbia city cop thought my Vet should not be going that slow.
  4. I am also left handed. Yesterday I picked up my first left hand bolt action Remington 700 in 308. I have only shot the right handed bolt action rifles. IMHO I find the right handed bolt action to be unnatural. Got a great deal on it with a good scope and legs out front. Now I just need a few hundred rounds.
  5. Mikegideon, I totally agree. I need more ammo...
  6. There is also a gun auction on Dec 30th at 10:00 in Cleveland, TN. Supposed to be over 500 guns. I was going to go but it is about 300 miles from my home.
  7. I will have to try this. I just got one for my wife. I think she will let me use it...LOL
  8. I don't have a HCP and don't plan on getting one just for this reason. I don't want to give an LEO a reason to search. I got pulled over about 2 years ago by a Columbia LEO for doing 2 miles under the speed limit. Yes, I gave him a little lip and he searched my car without my permission. He stated a Vet shouldn't be going so slow. I contacted the chief and he defended his officer. BTW that LEO is now in jail on other charges.
  9. Go to Amazon.com. I have seen them for under $200.00. The one I was looking at had an 18" Long Fiberoptic Borescope. Amazon.com: Pro Vision 618 - Small Diameter 18" Long Fiberoptic Borescope - 3200 Pixel: Home & Garden
  10. Thanks for this tread. I just ordered my wife a Ruger .380 LCP. I hope she doesn't have this problem. I got it to replace her .25 because she was having a FTF problem.
  11. Thanks for starting this post. I am looking for a .380 for my wife. She doesn't like the little .25 she has now. I was leaning towards the Ruger with the lazer to help her with her aim.
  12. I use the .44 mag Ruger with a 10 1/2 inch barrel. I has less kick than the 70 1/2. I have never had a shot at a deer more than 75 yards. Also I have never missed at that range.
  13. My brother's grand children are 6 and 7. I will probably shoot it a few time or just wait till they are old enough to handle it. You are right, it is no a collection item. It looks like a good functional gun. It's not like I need another shotgun.
  14. Hello, Just picked up a Stevens model 9478 20 gauge single shot. Has never been shot. It is still in the box. I don't think it has ever been put together. I got it for only $85.00. Not sure If I want to shoot it or just keep it in the box.
  15. I just got the Weatherby .270. It has a 3-9 scope on it. The gun look like if has only been fired a few times. Got it for $325.00. All of this guys guns looked like he never cleaned them. He had a 9mm and a 380 that looked only a few years old but also appeared like he had never cleaned them. The Weatherby needed just a little cleaning.
  16. So, the consensus is that the 742 is definitely a no go. Thanks. GUNTROLL... You don't like the caliber? What would you recommend?
  17. Thanks guys. I am looking for a bigger rifle than what I have now for hunting. I am retired now and plan on doing some hunting out west. Need something that will shoot over 300 yards. My 30-30 won't do that. I do like the look of wood, not the new composite stock. (call me old school). I am leaning towards the 721 if it is in good shape and the price is right. I was thinking of around $350.
  18. Hello, I just got back into shooting my guns after several years. I am looking to buy a new long rifle. I already have a Winchester 94 30-30. I found the following rifes and wanted to know what you thought. Remington Woodmaster model 742 30-06 Remington model 721 30-06 Weatherby Vanguard .270 I found these 3 for sale. I have not gone and looked at any of them so I do not know the conditions. Let just say if they were all in about the same condition which one should I buy? Thanks
