1. I had the GSG 1911-22 and I really liked it. It was solely responsible for my current obsession with 1911s and I now carry an Officer sized 1911. The Rugers are nice and I have shot one a couple of times. They seem like a little better quality to me. If you just want to try the 1911 style then you won't go wrong getting the Sig or GSG. The GSG had a threaded barrel to thread on an adapter for a suppressor if that means anything to you.
2. Can I use bubble wrap and tape? ;-)
3. If anyone says shenanigans one more time...DHS will flag you
4. Is it a good scope mount cover? I might be interested in a trade. Can you send pics?
5. Thanks guys! That'll go on the list of possibilities to check out.
6. That's some pretty neat looking software. How well does that work for developing loads?
7. My wife will shoot just about anything but she wants a light gun that's safe and easy to shoot for carry. Ended up with an LCP after trying a range of guns from full size 1911 to the LCP. Relative to men there are a lot less women shooters so when a lady is looking for a first gun or carry gun a smaller one is generally what will work best for them.
8. My first question when buying online is does Amazon have it and what are the reviews. For local area gun stuff, what does TGO say.
9. Yeah, there's EDC (pocket sized) and camping sized (that last one that you made, perfect size to me). The other ones are usually Predator sized, as in "I need a knife to hunt the Predator in the jungle" ;-)
10. That's what I was wondering. Could be a cool thing with a suppressor (to reduce some of the noise) or when wanting to keep brass from flying away, more like a bolt action. Fun test though, I guess there is a little more retained pressure with the gas off. I wonder how much for velocity gain you would get with a longer barrel. I know longer barrels usually increase velocity so I guess I'm wondering what length barrel would make the most gains with the gas turned off.
11. How I react to Black Widows
12. Ahhh, I meant without gas. Damn typos! Good explanation though:-)
13. What does the action do with gas? Does it affect accuracy at all with the gas off? Edit: I meant what does the action do without gas.
14. I don't even live there yet and probably won't use them. I vaguely remember a negative review in another post too. David will be my go to guy when I get setup after the move.
15. You are in that group of Craftsmen that I mentioned. Love your work! Keep that spirit alive, it's what made this country great!
16. Yes, this is why we have technology, for the safety of those around me:-)  I get pissed when I have to get out the brace and bit or handsaw for any reason, this guy is awesome.     My video would end quickly with my tools embedded in a nearby wall and me getting drunk!  I am so glad that we still have true Craftsmen out there who can amaze us with their work in this fast paced age of technology.
17. Any updates on this build?  The .50 BMG obsession has returned to my mind (its a sickness for sure) and I thought of this...
18. "It's calling to me, it's my PRECIOUS!" The only thing that guns pull on is my wallet!
19. I never would have thought of that, it's almost if the firing pin was patterned off of the nail. Pretty cool.
20. That's just a bad idea. I'm all for a march on Washington for gun rights and would love to see millions of 2A supporters swarm Washington but openly armed with rifles will look too much like an assault on the capital. Unless they want to be martyrs since when there is a standoff involving every LE agency in the area it will not end well. If they are lucky they will all go to jail on federal charges. Unlucky and there will be a lot of dead on both sides and that doesn't help anyone. All it takes is one shot, accidental or not.
21. Would something like this help at all? I have the shorter one on my rifle and find it a little tall for bench shooting and there are different heights that might work for you. http://www.accu-shot.com/Stud_Mount_Monopod.php

Pandora is my primary music source. Wife likes Rhapsody since she can build her own playlists.
23. Looks good, I have the same rail tube, excellent choice!
24. Here something that might work and you could make a pouch/mount and carry it on your chair maybe. you could have a narrower rectangular table that extends back and is clamped in the front. Then hinge the front on a riser with a height adjustment mechanism on the center beam to adjust the angle. Here's my quick drawing: I wish I was closer, I would love to build this with you.
