  1. I would carry even a Glock 17 before the 92 (I have both) so the 19 is an easy choice Although if the external safety and double action are important there is the 92 compact.
  2. I use the Apple TV, it's simple and meets my needs and easy for my wife to use. I could build a Mac Mini to do everything but the wife would hate it. So I keep it simple. We use Netflix streaming and DVDs for most and iTunes for what Netflix doesn't have. I can mirror my iPad or iPhone to my ATV also and show stuff from the Internet if I want. I can buy multiple seasons per month of shows for cheaper than satellite was costing and we only buy maybe 6 seasons per year. Roku works too, I think Amazon is comparable to iTunes for selection (don't use Amazon much though). I try not to over think things, my Apple stuff works great and is simple, that's all I need.
  3. I like these, easier to put in one handed (other holding the gun) than foam plugs. http://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defenders-Earplugs-Hearing-Protection/dp/B0012XT8B6
  4. Aw, I bet you can find it for under $2k...;-)
  5. Damn you, now I found and must have this in 12g/.308. The rifle trigger looks like its a 2 stage also, must have! Who says you can't be classy while surviving the apocalypse? http://cz-usa.com/products/view/brno-combo-rifleshotgun/
  6. Good question, we only want the "right" Californians to move out here;-) Here's my thread on Nashville, lots of good info there. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/63049-where-to-live-in-nashville-area/
  7. The Nashville area does seem to have the most action as far as gun clubs/matches and such. It's a little more busy than east TN but since you are retired, there a lot of great options for country living that is not too far for the city. Most of the best places are too far from where I would be working but that's not a problem for you. Overall Nashville seems to be a great place to live.
  8. Living near Johnson City (Jonesborough) now and it's a really nice area but we have to move for my job. Sounds like you are retiring so this would be a great area if that is the case. The airport here is very good for a small area, easy flight to ATL then wherever you want. We have a nice house on 17 acres in the country but are about 15-20 mins from shopping, etc and about 25 mins to the airport. We came from Southern California a few years ago and it's much better out here, glad you're able to escape. I am not working much these days so if you need a point of contact out here, let me know.
  9. No such thing as bad publicity, they know exactly what they are doing, we are all talking about it aren't we?
  10. I know these guys who make soap, they make the best soap....;-)   Tyler: The salt balance has to be just right, so the best fat for making soap comes from humans. Narrator: Wait. What is this place? Tyler: A liposuction clinic.
  11. Yup, certain folks don't have that problem...
  12. Can't help with the Fatboy but I've been looking at STI and they have some nice double stacks. There's a dealer in springfield. The Fatboy sounds nice, I never thought of STI for a carry gun but I do like their VIP.
  13. Good info, thanks guys:-)
  14. You can't hide 44s, that'll print for sure;-)

I read the same thing when I was researching to build my 7 Mag but I think that might be old info at least that's what the Internet told me;-)

3/8 MOA every time is a pretty big deal and that rifle is built with a bunch of top shelf parts not just a fixed up Rem 700. This rifle is built for someone who is highly trained and has to take shots that lives depend on. There is a lot of gunsmithing that goes into making a rifle that accurate too. A person might be able to build one for a little less but I don't think it would be by much unless they can do their own gunsmithing.
  17. That's a slippery slope for sure. On one side, it would be legal since its the Guard but it also reminds of this quote from "The Siege" General William Devereaux: Twelve hours after the President (insert Gov. Quinn) gives the order we can be on the ground. One light infantry division of 10,700 men, elements of the Rapid Deployment Force, Special Forces, Delta, APCs, helicopters, tanks and of course the ubiquitous M-16 A2 assault rifle. A humble enough weapon until you see it in the hands of a man outside your local bowling alley or 7-11. It will be noisy, it will be scary and it will not be mistaken for a VFW parade. Great movie to get you thinking about the repercussions of having war fighters in American streets. Ground combat troops are in the "Use only in case of war" category for me.
  18. This reminds me of this pic if this app was used to report guns in TN.
  19. Interesting, we have some people coming to look at our house that just drove in from Jersey. They can't wait to move here.
  20. Is that just Tennessee or all states?
  21. Could it be this guy?
  22. This and to expand on it, Military Technicians are civilian workers with military affiliation. Example is, a Technician is a civilian worker (GS pay grade) during the week at an ANG base and is part time ANG for the one weekend a month, 2 weeks a year deal. To confuse things further, they also wear their military uniform during the week since they are dual status.
  23. It's more of a personal preference thing for me, both work fine.  For defending a position a shotgun is great but if I have to move through the house I like the maneuverability of a handgun.
  24. I have no experience with hunting animals but I do know that most people hunt from stands.  Is that the same with you handgun hunters?  Or do you move around more?  I have done both when hunting Taliban but thats a little different:-)   When I get settled somewhere I would like to do a little hunting just to hone my "man skills" and put some meat on the table.  Handgun hunting sounds very interesting.
  25.   I am the same way and warming up to the idea of copying you in this.  Yes, it's settled, I'm going to start OCing an Owl!     JK, I do like the celebration of freedom though:-)
