I got the Samson Evolution which I think is the same just different cutouts, great choice I love mine.

http://tac2.net/ These guys are in Greeneville and do a lot of training/competition stuff there. Not sure if they would be open to this but it's worth a try.

It's a pretty light job so I don't see it being a problem, not a lot of flex on the wheel if you go easy. I wouldn't do it a lot or put a lot lateral of pressure on the disk. A Dremel disk is another story, have had a few of those self destruct, always wear safety glasses.
-
If you haven't already get the vise block to secure the upper in the vise like in the video. I got the block and the plastic insert that goes in the mag well as a set on Amazon.
-
For the front sight post, I just took a Dremel to it and cut off what I needed to in order to get the longer tube to fit.

My Daniel Defense and Samson are 12.47" if the exact length is important, it was for me, contact the maker.

You can run Lion from an 8GB flash drive so one of your 80s will work fine.
-
My only addition here is that you can be a "carrier" for Windows malware, that's the main reason I use an AV. All good points otherwise. Sophos actually alerted me to malware on one of my Windows VMs.
-
Well you have plenty of options then, I think a VM is the best way to sandbox your computer. No browser is really going to give you that level of security by itself. Keeping your recreational browsing on a VM and work stuff on the main system is the way to go, I might even do that now that OSX can be put on a VM (since Lion at least). You could run a lot of VMs on that Mac Pro with no issues, that seems like the way to go. Apple hardware is not cheap especially a Mac Pro, I have Mac Minis which is the most economical way to enjoy the Apple experience.
-
This too, if you don't have an incremental backup system in place, do it immediately. Especially on a Windows PC. I love Time Machine on my Mac and Parallels for VMs if I want to use Windows for more risky browsing (not porn, I Torrented some old games that I used to own).
-
If you can make the switch to Mac I highly recommend it. Its not perfect but its still a ton better than Windows to me. I do use Sophos antivirus and OpenDNS/DNSCrypt so I am not a head in the sand Mac user. You could set up a Hackintosh for pretty cheap if you don't want to switch to Mac hardware, that would make a great dedicated browsing machine. iPad is another great option, I hardly get on my computer anymore since I got one. For Windows I think Chrome is the best browser with OpenDNS setup on the network.

True, I am pretty sure Oakley and Wiley-X sell prescription lenses though. I also have safety glasses with prescription lenses that clip inside, military issue but I think they are available from a civilian maker.
-
Steel case ammo is fine for that gun, I use it it my AR and bolt gun without any real issues.
-
Something that is near indestructible like prescription safety glasses or tactical goggle type eyewear. I forgot the brand but there was a guy that I was deployed with that had them. Not cheap but they'll do the trick. Wiley-X, that's it. You can get Oakleys in prescription as well, again not cheap but supposedly good quality. Military gas mask inserts with the rubber strap would work too.

Anyone here involved with Boy Scouts in the Jonesborough/Johnson City area? I am thinking about getting back into it. I am more interested in working with an Explorer group but would like to help the younger Scouts as well depending on what is available in the area. Thanks, John

You can use Preview to scan as well. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4505 I use the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner/software, I love it, it's the small one. Edit: re-read the question, don't know of a good organizational software, I just use folders.

Thanks for all the help on this everyone, looks like I'm going to keep the rifle in 7 mag and see what I can do with it.
-
Is 300 any cheaper to reload than 7 Mag? I think I'll end up getting a single stage setup for this. Been wanting to reload Match 223 as well so now I have more incentive to start reloading.
-
This is what I am thinking to but this was my first gun given to me by my Dad so I am going to keep it. I may just get a good stock and barrel and just bring it out when I want to shoot something really far away. Good 7 Mag ammo is just so expensive.
-
I read something about it being a magnum bolt but no details on the importance of that for a non magnum cartridge. I am hoping that it's a case of the magnum bolt being overkill but still working.
-
I have an M77 with tang safety in 7mm Mag, can I change it to 308 just by getting a new barrel? What would be a recommended barrel maker for this? I don't want to spend a ton and looking for a heavy target barrel. Thanks

Byrd's Specialty Firearms in Jonesborough has a lot of military rifles new and used. Great variety of other guns too, talk to Roger he's a good dude. +1 for Tri Cities Gun Depot too, very helpful. Mostly new guns basic selection. Both have better prices than Mahoneys too even though Mahoneys has the most selection.

I just bought a Samson Evolution and it comes with shims that install over the standard barrel nut that I bought, the same one in the first link from the OP actually. This was to replace my Daniel Defense quad rail that has its own unique barrel nut. Then I have a short free float tube that has a different barrel nut. Too many nuts out there:-)

I play some as well, not very good either. Mainly just something that I do when on vacation but I have been thinking about doing it more since i am running out of ammo money. I only keep track of my score about half the time, it can get pretty high:)

I just bought an SWFA SS scope and it's a great deal for $300. Rated for up to 50 cal. It's the new one with the mil-quad reticle. Has mil turrets to match the mil reticle for easy adjustments. Consider the one with the side focus knob for easier adjustments without having to look at the top of the scope. I am very happy with mine so far.
