  1. I think we have one picked out based on another recommendation. I'll get back to you if this one doesn't work out. Thanks!
  2. Well, that sucks!
  3. Ok you guys are slacking, why did nobody remind me that the Barrett HQ is in Murfreesboro!?!? That does it for me, now to convince the wife... That is seriously cool though, I'll be making a visit for sure.
  4. That's really cool, Magpul is really impressing me these days!
  5. I'm confused, how is this situation different from this one http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/63073-buying-a-rifle-out-of-state/?
  6. That seems like the area that we keep coming back to, it's good to know that our favorite area is so highly recommended. We will definitely keep an eyeput for houses in that area. Thanks!
  7. Yeah, not a big fan of any gunfire in a city...:-)
  8. What do you think about the ACE stock and folding mechanism? I love the look and may get that setup for my gun since I already have the receiver block in.
  9. Good info, I have one coming with my Rockchucker. Thanks!
  10. TDR, It's off topic but thanks for the wine suggestion: I was in Ohio and picked up a bottle, that stuff is great! The sweetness is just right and with light bubbles. Good pick!
  11. I loved that rant, it's a written version of the thought that go through my head a lot!
  12. Looking for over 10 acres at a minimum. We are seeing a lot of the 5-8 acre homes going in the range of 300-400k in more populated areas closer to the city. We may have to settle for less land but there are some nice places with ~20 acres a little further out for decent prices on that much land. It's a toss up between a long commute or less land. We have 17 acres now and the neighbors feel a little too close:-) Looks like a lot of the houses that we like are in Rutherford County, I'll take a closer look at that and see if I can get closer to I-40. Thanks!
  13. I keep noticing a lot of ads in the classifieds are in the Nashville area.  I need to get out there and join the action!
  14. Make sure you have an FFL that will receive deliveries from a non-FFL holder or you will need to have an FFL on both ends.   He (or his FFL holder) will contact your FFL receiver and get a copy of their FFL and mail it (UPS/FedEX) to your FFL.   That is my understanding of the process, my only interstate transaction was as the buyer but that's how it went down.   There might be restrictions on the carrier but I am sure someone will be along shortly to correct that, or Google it.
  15. Thanks, just took a look at Antioch, that area is definitely way too built up for us.
  16. We'll probably end up in the area between Lebanon and Murfreesboro so we don't have to go through the city to get to where we need to be.  I'll likely be looking at a 30-45 minute commute so I am prepared for that.     Are there any good health food grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's in Murfreesboro/Lebanon/Mt.Juliet?  I know where those two stores are but looking for something comparable more to the East.
  17. For me my AR is for varmints (2 or 4 legged) outside the house, external home defense.  CQB tactics favor short weapons anyway so a handgun (or SMG) would be preferred for working a house.  G17 and other various handguns are my preference indoors.     You could use frangible ammo if you want to use an AR indoors.  I don't have experience with that indoors but its supposed to break apart on impact, more or less.
  18. This is exactly why we left the cities of CA, good to know. Am I right to assume that if we just stay out of the city that we should be able to avoid most of this? I check every place we look at for a good shooting spot, my wife has her priorities and I have mine:-)
  19. I may do that, thank you!
  20. One thing for sure is that I already know that there is a good amount great folks out there that will help me adjust to the area. Thanks for all the good info, everything helps!
  21. That's funny because one of the first thoughts I had about moving to Nashville was "I could go shooting with Red!" I'll definitely look you up if we move out there. If I can get some ammo together, that is....
  22. The job will be good for that and a major reason that we are considering Nashville. I'll probably have to settle for a little longer commute in order to get the amount of land that I would like but that's ok.
  23. Good info, some names are familiar from searching but some new ideas too. Finding the view she wants seems to be difficult but there are some places that we found that would work decently well. I guess the political climate in schools is just going downhill everywhere these days, I'm sure it's much better than California though!
  24. Good Morning! We are considering a move to Nashville but know very litte about the area and I wanted to see if you could help. We are mid 30s with a 10 month old little girl. Here is our list of desires: Want to live in the country and have that lifestyle but be close to the city for occasional access to city stuff. My job will be just east of the main city so looking for at most a 30-45 minute drive to that area. Raising our daughter well is a high priority so we want a safe, friendly community with good schools that teach good conservative values along with solid curiculum and discipline. I am,after all, raising a future TGO'r here:-) My wife likes to see for miles so an area with lots of hills that obstruct the views would be much less desirable that open farm country. We're just getting started so we are looking for good areas to start with and to get a better feel for the area. We are open to all suggestions and experiences. Also, if there are areas to stay away from please let me know, that is just as important. Thank you!
  25. Definitely! If I could, I would love to post up on the front porch of the Rainbow House with my AR to defend this idea. I'll defend just about anyone against that evil church!
