  1. I have the Evo on my rifle. It's a very good handguard especially for the price. It has a pretty good grip with the textured finish, not to smooth. I had to buy a barrel nut, they're cheap enough. I highly recommend this, the Rainier Arms one is a different looking alternative but made by Samson so basically the same as the Evo.

I agree a blued revolver is a beautiful thing. From the pics that I have seen, a glossy melonite finish might look good too.
  3. Since I only pay for what I watch, I save a lot of money and don't pay for reruns and off season time when there is nothing on. I can buy 2-3 entire seasons per month and still save money. I also get a lot of shows through Netflix saving even more.

This song comes to mind, "Paint It Black". Either way its a sweet gun, make it your own and enjoy the memory of your Dad by using it to put big holes in things! That'll be a great heirloom for sure. Wish I could help with your original question, the pics sure do have us all distracted:-)
  5. This sounds like old school conservative rules to me which I don't actually have much issue with. This teaches them rules and discipline, they can choose whatever they want when they are adults but until then they should be held to a standard.
  6. I used to have the 30SF, good choice. That and the 17 are my favorites.
  7. You seem to have a couple good ideas in your profile pic;-)
  8. Aluminum's even harder, don't try that! Just kidding, Had to mess with your typo;-)
  9. It was a little frustrating figuring it out but a must for a 1911 owner, enjoy!
  10. I had the same issue on the used RIA Officer that I recently traded for. I just took out the leaf spring (I forget the name) and bent the grip safety leaf out some and that fixed the rattling. Check YouTube for videos if you aren't familiar with taking apart a 1911. That's what I had to do.

I can't find anything on a 45 Mag on a quick Google search. Maybe part of the conversion? I saw something on a rimless 45 Mag but that's for autos.

I've never seen a 45 Magnum, that sounds pretty cool. That one has some character, I like it the way it is but that's just one man's useless comment:-)
  13. Yep, these kinds of thing usually start this way with a fragile, bulky system. Before you know it this will be a helmet mounted reticle that guys can use from cover. One day we'll be seeing threads about, should I buy the variable power scope or the computer controlled targeting scope for a few hundred more.
  14. Ooh, good one, forgot what today was
  15. If you are looking at the Mil-Dot reticle check out the Mil-Quad reticle on the SWFA SS, it was a big selling point for me.
  16. There definitely needs to be a backup system. A spare traditional scope and the ability to go manual on the trigger would be necessary out in the field. This would be a great sniper system for the military if it was rugged enough. When I was running around with the Army I had GPS but always had a paper map and compass for backup 'cause Murphy likes electronic gadgets:-)
  17. We would love to have that much water on our land and a view like that, very nice!
  18. I think we'll end up doing that. Renting and moving again doesn't sound fun but may end up being the best decision so we don't get into a place that we are not totally happy with.
  19. If you were a realtor then we could talk about that;-) Thats a pretty good one, we'll take a look at it. Thanks!
  20. That place would be great if we could get them down to $450k:-). That's about our max for the perfect place.
  21. Good info, thanks!
  22. Sounds like a form 1 since you are in essence building an SBR and not transferring an already built one. This would be the same as if you chopped the barrel on your new rifle. I think you probably know that the suppressor will be on a form 4 if you are buying it already built. Also, if you don't mind, what are you getting that rifle for? I have a DDM4 also and just wondering what a good price is these days.
  23. I am looking at a house in Dickson, anyone know about that area? It's kind of out there but if the area was great we might deal with the distance.
  24. Haven't read all posts but wanted to come back and correct this, frangible 5.56 doesn't seem to be any better for over penetration in a building. Even if your walls are 1/4" steel! Here's the video: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=BPwRU1wTRFQ&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DBPwRU1wTRFQ The old rule of "know your target and what is beyond it" seems to be the only really answer here...
  25. Something about a red dot and accuracy is the size of the reticle. At this range it's not much of an issue but there is a larger margin for error using a larger dot vs a fine crosshair.
