  1. I am interested in your Henry 357. Do you still have it?
  2. I'll take the P38. How can we meet for the sale? My phone is 714 401 5876 call or text.
  3. I'll bet my money on out of spec ammo.
  4. Why is it that some folks express an interest in something, want to meet, set a date and then don't respond when a confirmation is requested. It's just downright rude. Kinda chaps my hide.
  5. Keep in mind that the Caniks are manufactured ti ISO9000 standards.  That says a lot for quality, fit & finish.
  6. I too am very happy that your injuries were not worse.  You certainly got my attention.  I was never concerned about static electricity but I am now.
  7. volzfan...I do all my own work.  I'll have to document the next one with before and after photos.  The CZ-82 pictured was a typical military pistol.  Minor holster wear, scratches, chipped finish and a bit of metal showing through the old finish.  I take them apart, check the innards, polish the barrel and prep them well before the Dura Coat process.  I'd be happy to do yours too.    Drop yours off anytime Matt.  Just give me a call and we can set a time.
  8. Thanks for the kind words guys.  In my opinion, CZ builds some mighty fine firearms.
  9. Yup, she looks good doesn't she.  I also installed an upgraded firing pin and hardened steel action rollers.  She does have a good home and she will get plenty of attention.  It was nice meeting you and I hope you are well.
  10. They look a lot different than they used to.look.
  11. Beautiful job.  I can feel the love that went into that.
  12. Very nice.  Enjoy that beauty.
  13. I went through these two mechanically, did some polishing, replaced what needed replacing and they both run smooth and true. Time for some makeup. I know purists won't much like these but they were both service pistols and they looked used. I did not replace grips or purchase any cosmetic upgrades. I just worked with what I had.
  14. It performs well.  It's no target pistol but as a defensive weapon, it would work just fine.  No failures have been experienced.  I make sure they function well mechanically before doing the cosmetic work.
  15. Excellent job!!  That looks as good as it shoots.  Something to be proud of, for sure.
  16. I photographed the Toke outside. The gold pops better than the CZ pic taken inside. I am working on a Makarov and a CZ52 next.
  17. I am a fan of Dura Coat. I had a couple of pistols Ceracoated by someone else and I was not thrilled with the results. I may give Ceracoat a shot myself one of these days but so far, my results with Dura coat have been quite satisfactory. I recently Dura Coated this Tokarev and the results were good. However, Dura Coat does take about three weeks to completely cure.
  18. JAB wins for the best post on this topic.  I am glad this one is over with.  I think we all got too jacked up.
  19. Wow!! I am blown away guys.  Thank you so much for the compliments.  I felt the same way as JAB did.  The Toke's lines are not eye candy by any means.  It reminds me of the skinny, squared off girl that nobody paid attention to.  Since I like the caliber and function of the pistol, after tuning it I gave a shot to dolling her up.  I saw a Sig done in that gold & black two-tone and figured I'd give it a try.  Admittedly, she looks better with her makeup on  ;-)
  20. I picked up some dies and I am considering simply cutting down and reforming .223 cases for the Toke.  I have dot sights on it but I have not fired it out to any extended range.  It shoots to point of aim at 50-feet.  It groups well too.  I really like the caliber and enjoy shooting the pistol.  I am trying to decide if I like the aftermarket muzzle brake.  I think it may look better without it.     Have fun with your project.  I love to tinker with these things.  There is always room for improvement of function with these old military pistols and it's fun to outshoot your buddy when he is sporting a "new" pistol that he paid three times as much for.
  21. I never suggested, implied or offered to Dura Coat or refinish the weapon in question.    I offered to inspect it for a very small fee.    I agree 100% that the firearm in question is worth more "as is", like most valuable and rare classics.  However, prudence dictates that a careful inspection and cleaning should be performed before taking the pistol in question to the range for proof firing.    Mr. Moped, I find it very curious that you are taking exception to "my tone" when Garufa's  quote "more valuable in it's current state than if refinished in some disgusting two-tone or any other spray paint" followed my offer to inspect the weapon.  I merely stated the obvious and there is no "tone" to my statement.   To answer Garufa's question regarding my qualifications, I could list them chapter and verse but suffice to say that my firearms experience began prior to my military service.  I have 45-years of firearms related experience but I do not claim to be an expert.  However, I am well informed and possess machinist skills.   The bottom line is that I don't enjoy being insulted or slighted.  Garufa published an offensive statement and I called him on it.  If Garufa was an "upstanding guy", as you say, he wouldn't make offensive statements on the forum.  He would also "own" his error and apologize for making a statement that he shouldn't have.  Perhaps he did not mean it to sound the way is does but nevertheless, he penned it.
  22. Well Mr. Garufa, I was not suggesting, in your words, a "disgusting two-tone spray paint" job on his Walther.   I simply offered to carefully examine and proof fire the pistol.  I have several firearms related certifications and I was offering my assistance as a good faith gesture.      I refinished my pistols using Dura Coat.  It's not common spray paint but a premium firearms coating.  They are not high value arms such as the topic pistol of this thread.  Unfortunately, your propensity to insult combined with your condescending attitude is sometimes encountered on internet forums.   However, I wasn’t expecting to encounter an individual such as yourself here on the TGO forum.  Most TGO members show respect for other members, their opinions and their projects.
  23. I just refinished a CZ50 that looks very similar to that Walther. The CZ was not very good to look at when I acquired it so I gave it a Dura Coat face lift and replaced some parts (firing pin, springs, etc.). If you are located near Nashville, I will be happy to look it over for you for a very small fee. PM me if you are interested.
  24. Thanks for all the positive responses.  I appreciate your opinions.  I have a few more pistols I am working on....CZ-52, CZ-50 and a Makarov.  Not quite sure of the colors yet.......
