  1. I haven't mentioned cracklin' bread because they are so hard to find now! We used to kill hogs every November and cut up the meat, make sausage, salt and smoke hams, and make cracklins. I miss a good piece of cracklin cornbread, a bowl of pinto beans, a slice of onion, and homemade pear relish.
  2. I do want to smoke some garlic bologna. Gonna fire up the Pit Boss this weekend!
  3. I am hazarding my own opinion here, and not as a point of debate. I am only sharing my thoughts. How much progress can we make until we may share an enlightened dialogue without name calling? How can we "talk" when we use labels for each other rather than "gentlemanly disagreement?" How do we define the worth of other persons? Are persons worthy only when they agree with us? Are persons worthy only when our perspectives match? Are persons worth only when "we" are against "them"? Or are all persons worthy because they are also made in the image of God? We may not agree on things, and we may have difficulty talking about issues, but at the end of the day, we hold respect for one another whether or not we agree on all topics, but at the very foundation of relationship, we are all humans. "It takes a different value system if you wish to change the world." Jacque Fresco Again, I am NOT trying to provoke an argument or be confrontive to anyone. We may be diverse, but we may also share respect for one another. I've never met anyone from TGO, but I would like to think if I did, we could talk about things, agree and disagree, shake hands, and walk away as friends based on our mutual esteem for each other as persons and not merely on our shared perspectives.
  4. Okay, subject change . . . Who likes fried garlic bologna?
  5. I ate so many cherry popsicles I HAVE NEVER EATEN ONE AGAIN! My tongue looked blood red for 6 weeks. Everyone thought I was sick . . . which I was!
  6. Same thing happened to me. "Take a bite" they said. "You'll love it" they said. I took a bite and ate Cream of Wheat for a month! I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. Ain't bitin' on that one agin'!
  7. So basically I mixed everyone's ideas and a few of my own, and it made a delicious ham glaze! 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/3 cup honey 1/3 cup orange juice Zest of one half orange 1/3 cup pineapple juice 1/4 cup hickory smoke BBQ sauce 2 TBLP dijon mustard Dash of salt Mix all, bring to a boil, and let cool. Cook the ham until you like it, turn oven up to 400, put the glaze on the ham, let it carmelize on the ham . . . and enjoy! Thanks all!
  8. Oh yeah, I was given a bottle of Uncle Nearest for my last birthday - GREAT GIFT!
