  1. Jeff Walle at Guns and Leather cut down a shotgun for me; he left a little more than 18" to cover my a** I'd tell you to go to a gunsmith.
  2. Man accidentally shoots himself at hospital cafe Feb 10, 8:00 PM (ET) LAFAYETTE, Colo. (AP) - A man who reached into his pocket to pay for lunch at a hospital cafeteria in Lafayette accidentally shot himself with the gun in his pocket. Police and officials at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center said it was an unfortunate accident. Officials said 59-year-old Steve Tapp of Thornton was treated at the hospital and released. No one else was hurt. Officials said Tapp, who was visiting family at the hospital, shot himself in the right thigh Tuesday. Security responded and took the gun. Tapp faces possible misdemeanor charges of unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment. The hospital forbids guns, although no sign was posted Tuesday stating the policy.
  3. I already commented once, but will say one more thing . . . In 1980 I was in a critical situation in which my Browning 9mm failed me. Luckily I was able to remedy the situation before three guys in a truck with 2 .45s and a pump shotgun literally killed me. I was able to get them off my back, but the situation would NOT been in doubt if I was not trying to clear jams (stovepipes) and could just shoot. Since that time, I carry a revolver . . . main carry is a 7 round 686. Autos are great . . . until your life depends on them . . .
  4. As usual TDR, your comments say it all . . . Well done, my friend! I need to buy you lunch sometime!
  5. For me the big ? is whether he will let bills come to the floor for a vote as opposed to Naifeh who would block floor votes.
  6. As a licensed mental health therapist who knows developmental psychology, my words of wisdom are easy: JUST ENJOY YOUR LITTLE DOLL!
  7. Well needless to say there would not have been a shortage and gas would not have shot up to $5 a gallon if there wasn't a rush. I doubt the issue with the supplier would have impacted us anywhere near that bad. Well said, bkelm
  8. It reminds me of last summer here in Nashville when rumors of gasoline shortages led everyone who had 3/4 of a tank of gas to go fill up every time they found a station with fuel. By the time those who had no fuel got there, the gas was gone. All because of rumors . . . Meanwhile, drivers were out of gas but gasoline distributors got rich and the price of fuel went up because it was in short supply. I frankly wonder if arms and ammo suppliers are feeding these rumors just a bit because it makes them more money . . . and the operators of gun stores tired because of the onslaught of people.
  9. Due to rumor, ammo is unavailable and more expensive when you can find it, and the price of firearms continues to grow.
  10. Well, .300 Savage is hard to find since no one chambers it anymore. The chance to shoot my grandfather's favorite rifle one more time is worth the cost to me . . . I thank you
  11. PayPal will make it right . . . they have taken care of me on a few occasions such as this. Sorry for your aggravation!
  12. Thank you, Mugster! I'll check it out!
  13. Same here, but I also wear my CCW hat with badge on it, my CCW lapel pin . . . Yes, I'm joking, although I saw two guys buying badges at the last gun show . . .
  14. Today I reblued and cleaned up my grandfather's Model 99 Savage lever action; it is chambered for the .300 Savage. This was Pop's deer rifle. I'd love to shoot it again! Can anyone give me guidance on where I may look for ammunition in .300 Savage? Thanks -
  15. A girl asks her boyfriend to come over Friday night to meet, and have a dinner with her parents. Since this is such a big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and make love for the first time. The boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. He tells the pharmacist it's his first time and the pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and sex. At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all. That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parents house and meets his girlfriend at the door. 'Oh, I'm so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in!' The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head. A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer, with his head down. 10 minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy. Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend leans over and whispers to the boyfriend, 'I had no idea you were this religious.' The boy turns, and whispers back, 'I had no idea your father was a pharmacist.'
  16. You are correct; I called yesterday about my renewal and was told that the state is now doing background checks on all renewals because there were some persons who had gotten HCPs who were not supposed to have them, thus, the renewal process has slowed down.

  19. I use a wire wheel on a grinder to take off the old blue. Then use isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the barrel to remove all grease, oil, etc. I then steel wool (0000) the barrel and go over it again with alcohol. I then apply Brownell's Oxpho Blue, although I use the liquid. Apply a few coats, steel wool the barrel, and then put on your final coat(s). Oil the barrel well. Have a drink and be proud of yourself!
  20. Wonder what the guy had been drinking when he decided to spray paint his firearm? Or maybe his wife spray painted it when she found out he bought another one . . .
  21. My brother has one; it is really a fun gun to shoot. Actually shot some clay pigeons with it.
  22. May God bless you in your loss; you have a wonderful memory in a great man.
  23. Hey . . . you can criticize my politics or my carry sidearm . . . but DON'T MESS WITH SPAM! I've loved it ever since growing up as a kid and my Dad cooking it by campfire on Watts Bar Lake!
