I had the same question: with no serrations, did you have enough grip to pull the slide. Two factors: 1. The "SIS" is cut deeply enough into the slide that it gives me equal "grab power" as if it had serrations. 2. The refinishing is not as slick as the original finish, so I do have better grip on the slide.

Thanks - I usually don't refinish them either, but it was an odd color of blue originally, not "blued" as we traditionally know it.

Awhile back I bought a Kimber SIS Ultra from a great guy on TGO, se-real. I love the gun, but never really liked the "blue" finish. I sent the gun to PA for a finish called "Metallife." (Google "Mahovsky's Metalife" to learn about the finish if you are interested.) My pistol came back home to TN and I thought you might want a look!

I am the proud papa of a Kimber SIS Ultra; shot it a bit before I sent it off for a new finish (*sniff sniff* I miss her). Honestly, in terms of recoil, there is not that much difference in my Kimber and my Browning 9mm when shooting hotter loads.
