Henry Rifle: Thinking about buying one. A good purchase?

We've had a golden boy with the octagon barrel for years! Great shooter and a tack driver with open sights. The sights are one of the best features on those Henry's... -
Beretta Nano..one in the chamber?
thundersnow replied to Drjack88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've got a Pf9 that I carry condition 3. Just personal preference. No external safety. Your original statement about the safety between your ears is spot on. Most of the carry guns without external safeties have a good trigger pull of seven pounds or more. That coupled with a good holster that COMPLETELY covers the trigger should be all you need. -
I looked at the discovery and the marauder 48south... While it is better all around, My guess is I will take a few shots here and there and dispatch the occasional pest in my garden. The precharged gun are a whole-nutha-level kind of cool, but I just don't see myself pumping up the gun for a couple of shots. Lemme check up on the spring gun you mentioned... Stay tuned

Violence in America: The History of a Catastrophe
thundersnow replied to xRUSTYx's topic in General Chat
Summary: Well for the most part, our friendly host sites a significant amount of data that points to fatherlessness as a primary root cause of crime and further engraining of the welfare state into the minds of children from single parent homes. This coupled with some surprising (to me at least) data about the number of children born to unwed households seems to follow the data about the number of people below the poverty line in the us, the uk, and canada. "Proximity to the welfare state is toxic. Violence begets violence." Spend an hour with this information and your blood pressure will increase 10 points. No solutions are offered other than to propose encouraging marriage as a way to elevate oneself above the poverty line... Here's this guys ten cents. His two cents is free. -
This has been a very informative thread so far... I gave a serious look at the Browning Leverage, but the stock doesn't seem like a good fit for a lefty like me. I'm not really thrilled with the saftey reset after every cocking pull, but that's not a deal breaker. My web/YouTube browsings have it narrowed down to a Gamo Whisper or a Benjamin Trail NP. Both come with a scope and a sling for about the same power factor. Gamo is a little less expensive, unless you factor in the Nitro Piston upgrade. The Benjamin Trail NP has it built in. It seems like the .22 is the better choice for staying below the sound barrier and a little extra punch downrange.

It's too broad of a search to get the results I want, so I'm putting it out into the universe (well, the TGO community anyway)... Which air rifle is the best one to get for (25 yard range) varmits and general target plinking without disturbing my neighbors. My thoughts were headed in the break - barrel style but not for any hard and fast reasons. I'd like to keep in under $300 bucks, but if it's worth spending a little extra to get something amazing that will last me then so be it. Looking for quality over quantity here and easy to maintain. thoughts? experiences? customer service? .177, .22 or .25? vendor? THANKS!

There is a place in Hillsboro village with a sharpening sign in the window across the street from Jackson's and close to the belcort theatre. No direct experience but it might be another option.

The biggest problem in solar electricity generation is the HORRIBLE lack of efficiency in converters to tie your system to the grid. Anything the takes the typical 12v output of the battery bank all the way up to 120 or 240 is about 60% efficient at best. The rest is wasted in heat. Like others have said, look into solar hot water first and then consider ways to get your power consumption down (to less than 100 amps?) BEFORE INVESTING in solar electric. -
I thought you said it was a poor boy's budget... That vermiculite is really expensive dirt! Congrats on the build. Should serve you well. You might consider putting some pex tubing in before the backfill. It'd be a great source of cooling if you wanted to pipe cool air through the room using a heat exchanger. 100' of tubing would be great in a spread out coil that is safe from the elements.

I like the meetup group idea... Even though the one mentioned was for another topic. It would be a great way to handle scheduling and get the information out there about other topics as well. Maybe the bigger "prep" concepts could be discussed. Local farmers market might be another good place to find folks with an interest in learning these skills.

+1 for a reporter reaching out to folks who have a vested interest and passion for the article's content! Don't let us down Brian. There is a wealth of knowledge and reason on this self regulated forum... Please do your journalistic due diligence and get some actual reporting out there for people to make up their own minds.

The raw materials used in making the power chair are very valuable to any one interested in making their own power to sell back to the power company. You'd have a charge controller, deep cycle battery and very powerful DC Motors. That being said, please find an actual person that could directly benefit from using the chair for its intended use. If not I would happily but those parts to good use...

"A 2010 law prevents police departments from destroying seized or collected firearms. Legislative attempts to force departments to sell guns they acquire have so far been unsuccessful. Metro police instead will store the guns in a secure, police lockup." Aren't most of these sold at auction? Sounds a bit vague to say metro pd has a storage unit somewhere with 90+ guns in it.
Without Obama there would still have been a GM, they just would have gone through a normal bankruptcy like other companies. All Obama saved was the auto union, which ironically is what killed the US auto industry in the first place.
So true... History is not without a sense of irony either! ---- Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG) P6 /// Ruger Target 10/22
