  1. Reply to Sonny Crockett,    Check out the following link for more information on  Custom shop guns.   http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=57901.0   May want to do a little research before posting a question like that.  I know I would :)   As you can see, this one that was for sale at Bud's, says nothing about  different trigger     http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_82/products_id/715000920/CZ+75+COMPACT+CUSTOM+14%2B1+9MM+3.8%22+Night+Sights   ...."This CZ Custom Shop firearm, includes the following features:- P-01 Style Frame with Rail and Manual Safety.- Shadow Hammer installed-CZ Custom Tuned Action-Stainless Steel Guide rod-Polished Barrel Hood-Checkered Coco-Bolo wooden grips-Meprolight Night Sights.".....   Just some thoughts.   Trooper Joe
  2. I have the .32 Seacamp (bought it last June).  However, just broke out the KelTec P-32 so that I could carry some S&B FMJ ammo which is supposed to be about the hottest, stock, .32 ammo.  Also, when we are in Florida for 3 months, the KelTec is about 4 or 5 ounces lighter than the Seacamp.   The Seacamp is sort of like owning a custom expensive 1911, and then just carrying a cheaper, plain Jane, RIA or something.   Trooper Joe
  3. I was browsing the old posts on this great forum and found this post. I just bought a .357 take down in this model and it is really great. I am going to be a little careful about taking it apart since I see it is easy to mar up the mag tube when you un-thread it. I will try and post a photo. (By the way, I did some trading and got it for about $1,350. Still a little steep, but I have seen nice stuff for about 800-900. I just figured I could stay home from a weekend trip and make up the difference HA!) Trooper Joe [/img]
  4. I set up my Marlin with Ashley Ghost Ring sights, trigger job, and a cross bolt safety eliminator. It is one of my favorite guns and is not for sale. [/img] Used to carry a Winchester SRC .357 (converted from a Winchester 32-20/before Cowboy Action shooting gave us these great lever guns) on patrol as a State Trooper in Flint Michigan in the 60's (the rules were looser then). It was a great patrol rifle, is a great deer rifle, and when I see a squirrel in the woods while deer hunting, I can slip a .38 Special load in it and have squirrel for supper. Trooper Joe
  5. My old LEA uses Sigs exclusively. However, when I had to qualify for my nation wide carry permit (LEOSA permit) I used a Glock 19 and aced the course. After being retired 22 years, I did not want to think about de-cock (Sigs), cocked and locked (my EMP 9mm or other 1911s), or small mag capacity where I would have to reload during a course of fire. The Glock is not very sexy like the EMP 9mm, but it will always, always, always do the job. Just some thoughts, Trooper Joe PS: Don't tell my old agency that I actually like Glocks as well as the Sigs. I even bought a G36 and gave up on small, compact, 1911 45s.
  6. Sig 239 in 9mm is a great gun. I thought so much of mine I bought a set of those expensive Hogue grips just to "show my appreciation". [/img] Just some thoughts, Trooper Joe
  7. Last spring I was going to give a Florida dealer a blank check for the Kimber Solo he had for display only. Started to read the horror stories and returned to Michigan. Had a chance to try to shoot (and I mean "try") a Solo at a police range in west Michigan. Could not get it to run. What a piece of crap. I was so disgusted with Kimber I traded off my full size Kimber custom shop .45 (which had been flawless) for a Smith ES 45. Last August I bought a EMP 9mm. If there is a better 9mm out there, I have yet to find it. I fulfills my love affair with 1911 formats and is just about perfect. I have some neat 9mms (LC9/which really works, Sig 239 9mm. Sig 228 9mm. Walther P38/1968 era which is very classey, a Glock 19 which has never failed me, and finally a Rohrbaugh R9s which is like a piece of jewlery) however, the EMP 9mm is just about at the top of the list. Just some thoughts, Trooper Joe
  8. Thanks for the info on the ammo. I will carry Hornady Critical Defense if I want to carry this for protection. Received my MecGar magazines today and they seem to fit perfectly. Will try them out at the range and let you know. Trooper Joe
  9. I posted this on Defensive Carry forum. Thought you guys would enjoy this. This neat Browning BDA .380 followed me home today. What a work of art. Can't wait to get it out to the range and play my "No plastic guns for me" role.[Actually, one of my every day carry guns is a P-32 KelTec-Go figure.] This gun should probably never see a holster since there is not a mark on it.It was made in 1986 and must have spent most of it's live in a gun safe. Got a chance to shoot it today. If I do my part, the pistol will do it's. Funny thing, a lot of ammo would not lock back the slide on the last shot. However, Hornady Critical Defense and one other defense ammo ( I don't remember which one) did lock it back. So the gun is OK but just new. I always thought Hornady Critical Defense was pretty mild (or so it seems in my Sig 230 and 232). But S & B ammo (which I thought was hot) failed to lock it back. I think all of them will lock it back once the pistol is broken in. And yes, it was taken down, cleaned, and lubed before shooting. Found some mags. Called Browning, and Bretta and CDNN in Texas. Bought 2 MecGar magazines from CDNN and 2 Bretta model 84 magazines from Bretta. Was assured from CDNN, Bretta and Browning that the Bretta 84 mags are the same. Trooper Joe [/img] [/img]
  10. Thanks for the reply. The insignia on the shoulder boards is for the Michigan Naval Commanders (The Commanders Club of Michigan). The uniforms are just like regular Navy and were originally approved by Admiral Frank Harness-Retired. The commission is under state law and signed by the Governor and the TAG (Adjutant General). It is a great group of military men, most of them having had prior service in the Navy. However, you may see some ribbons on the uniforms from Army, Navy, USMC, or Air Force, since that is were the member earned them. These are approved by the TAG for wearing during official military functions (ie., visiting military VIP, etc.). This Remington 1911 is very similar to the one I carried in the 60s while serving on shore patrol duty. Trooper Joe
  11. [/img] Hello gang. New to this great forum. Posted this information several months ago on the 1911.org form. Shot this R1 again last Sunday and it is really starting to smooth out. Have never had a malfunction with any mag or any ammo. Trooper Joe US Navy-1911 reproduction Just bought a Remington 1911 R1. This is going to turn out to be my Navy 1911 (carried a 1911 in the 60's on shore patrol duty). This new Remington shoots any ammo (4 different kinds of hp defense ammo as well as ball ammo). So, after proving itself, I replaced the stock Remington grips with my US Navy grips and paired it up with my Naval Commanders uniform items. The Commanders in my Michigan Naval Commanders group are all going to want one of these Remingtons. PS: I am not much of a pistol shooter, but a number of my first 50 rounds were in one ragged hole. Thanks to Remington for a great 1911 pistol. Trooper Joe
