  1. Has anyone hit the Knoxville Gun shows lately (there is one at the Expo center tomorrow) I have been avoiding them as I have heard it is a MADHOUSE !! I just want to go back to browsing the tables and enjoying the atmosphere.
  2. Thanks, I am doing a search now to see if I can find out any information on its value from its serial numbers and such. I am hoping to help this guy out as he is not a gun guy at all.
  3. Thank you for the input - I am actually going to help the guy sell it. He ended up being a friend of a friend and I want to help him get as much as possible. I went and saw it last night, and it was fantastic. No rust, or stock marrings at all, very light useage marks. I need to help him find a magazine now. It has a wood stamp under the buttplate and I grabbed serial numbers as well. I need to see what its worth....and the quest begins...........
  4. The asking price was 250.00 and that seems fair. I like to be sure that the rifle can fire, and has been fired. Since I am not familiar with this model and do not know what else to look for, I may just let her go. I appreciate all your advice gents.    Semper Fi Joe
  5. Thank you, that was my first response as well. Too many unknowns with that
  6. I just found out that it does not have a clip - the seller had stated that one can be found for 50.00? Are they hard to find, and or install? I am pretty capable but I am no gunsmith
  7. Oops sorry to the Swiss for that one - thanks for the correction and the helpful information
  8. I was hoping to pick your brains on this rifle (Schmidt Rubin model K31 or K11). I have found one for sale, but do not know anything about them. It looks to be in good condition from the pics. I was hoping to get an estimated value as my books dont go that far back. What I have found so far is that it is an accurate rifle made by the Swedes.   I appreciate any useful help that can be given.   I do not seem to be able to attach any pics to this message for your review.
  9. I hope that you all find this helpful. I have found that there are various prices and quality of foods out there in the world. I have purchased from many websites and stores,  and I would like to share the trust worthy ones that I have used. I hope that you all will share your trustworthy sites too.   This company is having a bucket sale - normally I do not buy anything unless I see that it is discounted 20% or more. Unless of course if I need it now.   I have seen this website have sales up to 50% off on certain things. I signed up and get their daily or weekly emails announcing their sales. They also send helpful "how to" tips.   http://www.thereadystore.com/on-sale/weekly-promotion/
  10. Very true there Vontar - there are some natural herbs that can be used as well. I keep Sea Kelp pills in my kits too.
  11. Thanks - I change my supplies when I find new applicable items. Such as unscented feminine pads and tampons to the first aid kit - they work extremely well for wounds. Oak Ridge, yes....fun times indeed. I used to work out there - the green glow is disconcerting at night, but helpful :ugh:
  12. That is the long term bag - it weighs in at around 60lbs. I have three other bags of varying size and weight. They are all very similar, but of course not exact. I have extra ammo in the bags for whatever gun is attached to it. I also have a two piece Cold Steel blowgun with hunting darts. This is good for small game and it very light, accurate and powerful for what it is.   One thing I like to keep in mind when planning a route to where ever I am headed. You may have to stay off the main roads, you may have to walk thru difficult areas. If you are buggin out, there is a reason, and the main road can be blocked or a place where you dont want to walk.
  13. I have the SAS survival manual, IFirsrAid, Easy Home remedies and Wikihow on my Iphone - I also kept a mylar bag that a hard drive was shipped in to store my Iphone in. I am unsure if it will be enough protection from an EMP. I do not have the ability to test this scenario.
  14. I have purchased Mountain House as well as Provident Pantry - I regularly use - http://www.thereadystore.com if you sign up you get some coupons and they send helpful tips on survival, http://beprepared.com, and http://www.sportsmansguide.com - TSG has been providing me with all sorts of items for over 20 years.   I have some Wise buckets and have tried the Pasta Alfredo - they are easy to carry and the food is edible. They taste better than MRE's but are not as good as Mountain House or Provident Pantry.   I would recommend you get some packets to try. They sell them in various sizes so you can try em out.
