im using a new tube fed Marlin XT22TR that's chambered for shorts longs and long rifles so i dont anticipate any feeding issues, i was more concerned with the squib loads ... thought they would be more serious than just pushing it out with a cleaning rod, i had picked up 2 boxes to try out so i might just try em anyway a lil later today or just throw em in a drawer and wait till i get a .22 revolver ..been looking looking for an excuse to get a heritage rough rider anyway lol
-
ok thanks for the info guys i think i'll wait and get some of the super colibris or just stick with the CCI CB shorts that i've been using they make better pest control rounds anyway with a 29grain bullet at 750fps as opposed to the super colibris with a 20grain bullet at 500fps, but im curious about the super colibris noise levels, the CB shorts sound about like a loud cap gun going off, to me anyway
-
ok so just to clarify, you wouldnt recommend trying the standard colibri rounds out of a 22" barrel?
-
ok everyone talks about using the super colibri ammo out of .22 rifles for quiet shooting so i went to my LGS to see if i could find some .. i found the identical looking box but it's just colibri not super colibri ... after looking online i found the difference here http://www.the-armor...tml/aguila.html apparently the colibri ammo is rated at 375fps and the super colibri at 500fps ... but i noticed both were labeled for pistols ONLY ... i know alot of people shoot the super's out of rifles but anyone use the 375fps normal colibri's? i dont wanna end up with a bullet stuck in my new marlin xt22tr lol ... also any comments would be appreciated on what kind of accuracy i can expect, and how much range i can expect to get before losing accuracy with either of these rounds
-
thanks for the info on the 60grain SSS rounds, i'll have to get some of those 20grain super colibras, i've been using the CCI CB shorts and they are pretty quiet but im sure the super colibras would be even more so .. the CCI's are a 29grain round at 750fps where as the super calibras are 20grain at 500fps so apparently the CCI's are a bit hotter load, as for rifles that eat anything the Henry lever action .22 is also a nice little gun if you're looking for something that will feed shorts, longs, and long rifle ... im sure its not as accurate as some of the longer barrelled offerings though

wow that thing looks nice i would like to have been around TGO when you sold it, yeah i kinda feel the same about the charger in general too big for a pistol too small for a rifle, but was thinking it might be a fun and interesting toy
-
im curious what was it about the charger you didnt like for a supressor host? i only ask because i was considering one as a host if/when i get into the supressor market
-
seems like a ruger charger would be ideal for this kind of project it's basically a pistol 10/22 so you know it will last a long time and it can take mags bigger than 10 rounds (i just dont understand why that's the standard in .22 auto pistols) it is a bit large though but you get the extra accuracy to go along with it, as for the SR22 i cant say how long it will last but it is a very nice lil pistol i love mine but then again i doubt i will put 15k rounds through it in 10 years lol

yeah a Marlin model 60 was my first real gun, lots of good memories of just walking down the railroad tracks hunting cans lol ... they are awesome and very accurate lil guns and i've been thinking of picking up another one, i just bought a marlin xt-22tr yesterday and was eyeballing a used model 60 when i was at the gun shop ... was very tempted, i love my 10/22 with the BX-25 mags but the model 60 is just simple and it works
-
any recommendations on a decent budget scope for my new toy? ... i have a fixed power 4x32 Leapers on it right now and its ok but would like something with a bit more magnification
-
i still havent tried the colibras yet i know the CB shorts are super quiet though .. really curious about those subsonic 60grain ones though, i forget what they are called ... Aquila super silent sniper or something like that maybe?
-
just got back from my LGS and ended up getting a Marlin XT-22TR ... was going to get a savage but it was the same price with a 7 round mag and the non accu trigger model with the 20" barrel, the marlin has the adjustable "pro-fire" trigger, 22" barrel and is tube fed (i didnt even know they made the XT-22 model in a tube fed configuration) so i can feed it .22 short's longs or long rifle .. which i like for shooting the CB shorts in the back yard ... nice looking gun and nice crisp trigger, i'll post again when i get a chance to break it in ... here's a link to the model i picked up .. cost me $210 OTD at my LGS http://www.budsgunsh...oducts_id/72778

anyone have any experience with the lower end .22 bolt guns? im looking for a "fun" gun on a budget was thinking about the savage mkII or possibly marlin xt22 and would like you guys opinions or other recommendations for a sub $200 gun
-
the mk series is probably more accurate but for a "fun gun" or a trainer i would go with the SR22 as well, me and my wife fight over mine lol ... i have both a MKIII 22/45 and a SR22 and honestly prefer the SR22 as the slight accuracy increase really isnt an issue to me, since i dont shoot long range with handguns anyway
-
just picked this up today and was a lil surprised to see it wa the PT92 AR not the PT92 AFS ... had been researching the 92AFS and was wondering if this gun accepted the same magazines .. i only ask because i know the 92 AFS comes with 2 17rd mags and i got this one used with 1 15rd mag and 1 10rd mag and i cant find much info on the difference between the guns
-
dont have a .22 revolver myself but been looking at a Heritage rough rider single action .22 revolver .. it's only $200 new and comes with a cylinder for .22 short/long/long rifle and another cylinder for .22WMR ... i personally think ruger has the semi auto .22 down pat i own a 22/45 and a SR22 and they are both awesome accurate and reliable guns .. i dont care for .22 autos that are picky about ammo what's the point if you cant feed it the cheap bulk ammo right? ... my wife LOVES the SR22 and i gotta admit the 22/45 hasnt been broke out much since we got the SR

welcome to the site lots of interesting reads here and some very cool and helpful people

welcome to the site man it's addictive
-
awesome thanks for all the info
-
welcome to the site!! im biased on gun advice as a self admitted .22 aficionado .. but as a ramen eating college student you cant go wrong with a good .22 pistol to train with.. get plenty of trigger time on the cheap since you can get a 550 pack of bulk ammo at wal-mart for around $20 and it'll punch a hole through the toughest piece of paper as good as any .357 mag
-
also i forgot to ask .. are the PT92 mags proprietary or will it accept the Beretta 92 mags?
-
yeah it seemed like new from what i could tell without field stripping it
-
wow this is crazy .. i came to post asking about this exact gun but blued not stainless ... found one used for around $400 out the door was looking at the SR9 (new) which would cost about $480 out the door ... i actually LOVE the way the saftey/decocker is set up on the PT92 AFS because it is identical to the Ruger SR22 which is the only gun my wife has shot so far (and loves it) ... and im looking for a good full size gun that has a less stiff slide than the SR9C so she can use it to step up from the .22 as well as being a home defense gun/range toy .. i LOVE the trigger on the SR9 series though, has anyone shot both the SR9/SR9C and the PT92 who can comment on the difference in the trigger? (my LGS is kinda weird about letting you dry fire their guns) and also .. do you think it's a good deal used at $80 less than the SR9 NIB? (money is exceptionaly tight)
-
i dont know but it sounds like an awesome combination to me

oddly enough im curently looking for a full sized 9mm myself .. but have been looking for a PMR30 for months now .. if one came up i would probably get it instead of the 9mm im currently in the market for .. i kinda gave up my search for a PMR30 though until one just shows up .. very frustrating hunt
