  1. looking to replace the wood furniture on my newly acquired WASR 10/63 (just too short) and i was thinking about trying one of the newer style angled front grips because i've heard in the past that people have issues with the standard front grips because of the AK's mag shape and how you have to rock them into position ... but the angled front grips just look "funky" to me and i was curious about anyone's opinion who has experiences with them .... what are the pros and cons to these grips in general or on AK platforms in particular    this is the grip i was gonna go with if it matters  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044J84OC/ref=gno_cart_title_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

i knew i was over paying at $399 but oh well i love the gun at least lol
  3. just curious how many of you have ran Tulammo through your AK variants, im picking up a WASR 10/63 tomorrow and Tula is mostly what i can find, should i wait on better ammo or scoop it up and be happy i got it? lol

    S&W M&P 22

picked up a M&P 22 yesterday and love the feel of the gun but havent got to shoot it yet, been wanting one for a few months now and everything i've read/seen indicates they are reliable even with bulk ammo and nice and accurate shooters ... paid a little more than i would have liked at $399 + tax / TICS but i figured they wouldnt be cheap new anywhere right now so i went with it ... i know its a pretty popular new gun so just wondering how any of you guys experiences with it have been?
  6. yeah the tech i talked to at Taurus said it sounded like a spring or "trigger bar" i think he said ... but i may have the smith at my LGS take a look, worst case scenario it'll cost me $40 to have it shipped off and received back at my FFL so im not too worried about it now
  7. ok i feel dumb now ... called Taurus and i had forgotten that they have a lifetime warranty on all their guns that follows the gun itself not just the original buyer, so it looks like i'll be sending it in for repairs soon, but at least the repairs are free :D
  8. yeah i've been having the same thoughts but didnt wanna say anything and jinx myself .. thanks alot spots ;)
  9. just a quick question since i know nothing of gun smithing ... was dry firing (well with snap caps) my Taurus PT92 and noticed that the trigger is not resetting, i have to put my finger behind the trigger and nudge it forward to reset before it actuates the hammer again, is this gonna be a simple fix or a huge headache? lol.. any ideas on a simple solution possibly? or do i need to take it to a smith?
  10. you have to buy a benefactor membership, very reasonable and supports a great site ... welcome by the way :)
  11. yeah like i said it took me 2 weeks of calling almost every morning to find anything in at my walmart .. and didnt do me any good to go try to get it, other than picking up on a hot tip of course lol
  12. been looking for both for a couple weeks now ... called the Lebanon walmart this morning and was told they had several 100rd "value packs" of 9mm for $24 so went straight there with the wife to buy extra and they were out already, but the woman at sporting goods was nice enough to tell me she had heard that the Lebanon Co-Op had some .22LR in stock, so i swung by the co-op and they had ALOT of different calibers in stock as of this morning around 8AM ... 6 boxes per customer limit, between me and the wife i picked up 3 boxes of Winchester 9mm @ $18 a box and 9 boxes of winchester wildcat .22LR @ $3.38 a box .. not alot but im happy to have finally found something at least lol
  13. http://www.kygunco.com/ is a good one as well
  14. there should be a petition for this .. hell i would sign it lol
  15. welcome to TGO, some great people and info here im sure you'll enjoy it :)
  16.     i actually did have my Ruger SR22 loaded and in my nightstand for awhile (along with a 12g pump in the corner) before i replaced it with my Sig2022 recently, like you i feel pretty confident that 10 rds center mass with a .22LR would deter all but the most determined criminals .. and i dont own anything worth that much determination lol
  17. if it's for home defense my vote would be a full size 9mm DA/SA with decock and safety ... such as my newly aquired Taurus PT92, that way you can keep one in the chamber with the hammer down and safety on ... with a manual safety + long hard DA trigger pull on the first shot i would feel safe with it in the house as long as it was put out of reach of small hands, and a nice heavy 9mm is alot softer shooting gun than an ultra light .38 or .380 not to mention being a better SD round in general
  18. even if i was gonna buy an "assault rifle" at todays market prices it wouldnt be a 5.45x39 just for the fact that IF there were any type of ban on imported guns and/or ammo ... 5.45 isnt domestically produced unlike .223 or 7.62x39
  19. not ashamed to say that as a father of a 6 year old boy who is the light of my life, this video brought a tear to my eye, and that man deserved a standing O from that entire room
  20. welcome to TGO and congrats on your first handgun, im a firm believer that every shooter needs at least one .22 pistol and rifle for no other reason than cheap trigger time... at least when ammo is available in regular amounts again which i firmly believe wont take long for .22LR, i've been considering a beretta NEOS myself for awhile now, they get good reviews
  21. well MSRP on S&W's website is $419 so probably between $320 and $350 .. i know i saw one at my LGS the other day for $369 and i was tempted
  22. im having trouble finding any ammo as well, and im looking for 9mm and .22LR pretty much exclusively .. i also have a SR22 and it's an awesome lil gun you wont regret it .. and i still think calibers such as .22 and 9mm will be back on shelves in normal ammounts fairly soon, as the guns that shoot them (for the most part at least, i know there are .22 and 9mm AR's and such) arent on obamas radar for now ... seems to be mostly ammo hoarders and profiteering off of the current scare that's wiping out these unlikely calibers for now
  23. lol ya got me .. i dont even know you but i was like "wtf why would he leave TGO???" lol
  24. if this video got half as much time on television as they spend making the scumbags who commit mass murderers famous, i seriously believe it would kick enough americans in the (_|_) to change things, too bad the only people in the media who would agree with this guy dont get the ratings that the so called "news" does *sigh*
  25. yeah it does suck i have been checking my local walmart every few days for 9mm and 22LR and cant find either, but i have faith that in a few weeks or a month the more common "not in any danger of a ban" ammo will be back on shelves again... until then i have a few thousand .22 rounds and maybe 300 9mm rounds and probably 60 rounds for my 12g home defense gun and i dont see myself going out doing alot of shooting other than maybe some with the .22, since my mother inlaw recently decided she wants to get into a home defense gun and wants me to teach her to shoot
