1. Springfield Armory offers several different flavors of 1911's.   check them out.
2. IMO, Glock, S&W M&P and Springfield XD series are all cut from the same cloth. . .when it comes to reliability.   it really comes down to personal preference and how each one feels in your hands.
3. that did not take nearly as long as I thought it would.   I hope the shelves get refilled soon
4.   Thanks SO MUCH!  I will take it.  See you SAT.  I will bring the $Green.
5. Hey Guys.   NEED YOUR HELP.    Just going through my ammo for the match and I guess I thought I had more than I actually do.  Looks like I might be about 20 or so rounds short.    I am not a reloader, nor do I have a good "stash" right now.  And the shelves are bare, obviously.   anybody willing to help me out to make sure I got enough rounds to enjoy the match.  I could throw a couple bucks your way, if required.   Please let me know.  Thanks!
6. I am going to try to come to this match. It will be my first. I currently shoot IDPA, though. I have a few questions. Do you have any type of registration form I need to fill out? What time do you start on SAT? Typically, what time do you end? What is the cost? Anything else I need to know as a first time shooter?
7. this only gets more recognition in the news because they were both HCP holders.   If these were just "joe-average" citizens without HCPs, probably land on page 7.
8. That is a major upgrade!
9. can someone please explain to me, though, about zombie's sleeping?  many episode you see them and they "wake up" when they hear a noise?  I don't get it.  They can live without food and water, but need to catch 40 winks?  Is there any logic behind it?
10. i was in there the other day and asked about some ammo pricing.  Box of 50 9mm FMJ was going for $24.99.    I thought that was pretty high considering before all this "mess" started their prices for a box of 50 was usually around $15.99.    Still that is a far cry from the $10~$12 I could get it for at Walmart or Academy.   But, alas, I am about to break down and buy some because I want to shoot and I can't find any 9mm locally in town.     on another note, I know certain caliber of ammo is scarce right now, and maybe some prices are inflated, but at Gander Mtn the other day they had plenty of .45ACP FMJ and the price was still $27.99. . .I think that is the same as before this "mess".  So why is .45acp still somewhat available, but 9mm, .22 and several other are either gone or overinflated?  strange, I thought.
11. not sure if you are willing to travel a little bit; have some info on some in the KNoxville area.
12. SORRY for the duplicate post.  I see this was already covered under "Newsworthy Reports".  Please disregard.       News from Knoxville Police Dept.   Saying goodbye to Glock and Hello to Sig.  Oh yeah, also bumping up to .45acp   http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/jan/23/kpd-switching-to-higher-caliber-service-weapons/
13. why did you feel it necessary to advise the LEO you were carrying?   just curious as to your position on this matter.
14. I think some great "competition" kydex holsters are either Comp-Tac or BladeTech.  A lot of IDPA guys I shoot with have these.
15. "best" is too subjective. . .personal preference.   Have you been able to handle and/or shoot any of these choices?  That is a huge factor (for you) is making your final decision.  Also, your intended use for the gun (carry, range, competition) also drives choices.   Best of luck!  From the short list above I think you could get both M&Ps for the price of the Kimber/HK
16. this incredibly long thread was posted over on the Springfield XD forum, but it probably has all the info you could ever imagine   http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/xd-gunsmithing-maintenance/83108-offical-everything-do-polishing-thread.html
17. Go see the scores
18. you and I should pair up next match..  I had a double feed issue as well, really screwed up a good run I had going.
19. see you there. . .
20.       it's all good! I plan to bust out my carry piece in a few months for an IDPA match, but not sure if I could stand the lower scoring performance. . .if it went that way.
21.   i usually shoot my XD9 for IDPA   hey, I carried it twice this year. . .
22. I am getting Triji HD's with Orange front on my XD9 right now.   from my research, most people said the orange was very bright in daylight conditions and easier to pickup with your eyes.    but maybe only slightly better than the yellow.   don't think you can go wrong either way.
23. just curious to the OP, I know you were ready to present the officer your HCP, but you have no obligation to do so unless he asks for it. just wondering on your beliefs/thoughts regarding why you had it ready to present to him. . .
24.
I went to the IDPA match at ORSA today and it definitely looks like the shooting competition to start with. The group that I followed started at stage three with a good mix of shooters. I see now why people were saying to go ahead and take your equipment with you and sign up and just do it. Problem is I don't have everything I need. Hopefully I will by the next one. I was waiting to see if I could use my current pistol and it seems like most everyone was using full size pistols. I was not sure if most we're using compacts in IDPA. I know some of you said it was fine, but I felt more comfortable seeing it in person. Now I just need to get some magazines for my P89. Again, thanks for all the help and encouragement.
even though IDPA is supposed to be based on Defensive pistol carry and (theoretically) your personal carry piece, it is still a game, and a good number of people carry full sized pistols. Not saying they don't carry full sized pistols, but. . . anyway, you should go. . .shoot what you got. . .and enjoy. . . BTW, I started in Bay 6. . had a terrible match, but had a great time.
