WOW, how did you swing that deal?
-
definitely, like Spiffy said, don't plan to just stand by and watch. If you have watched videos online, then you pretty much know what it is about. Just come and shoot, you won't regret it. It's a little bit more of a drive, but 1st Saturday of each month up here at ORSA, we shoot IDPA also.

+1. Come shoot with us. Welcome also.

State University - Leave Gun In Car Legal?
sschrick replied to JohnC's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
my understanding was, if you are a student, then NO. -
yep. . .nuff said

any or all of the above. only having verbage stating "no guns allowed, no weapons allowed, guns are banned on the property, etc. . .". Also, not within plain visible sight at ALL entrances of an establishment, etc. . .

as some others on this forum have mentioned before. . .concealed means concealed. not saying I agree or disagree with this statement, just forwarding on the comments of others. decision is up to you. -

my story is similar to QuietDan's. SA EMP9, my carry weapon. Same model as his. Had it for a little over a year now. It is a beautiful and tight pistol. I have over 600 rounds through mine with zero issues. It is incredibly accurate, and fun and easy to shoot. short, single action trigger, very nice. Definitely needs the break-in period and needs to stay well lubed. Most of the feedramps are coming polished now, but if you have feeding issues, SA will help clean those up as well. found that mine shoots just about any FMJ ammo and I run Speer Gold Dot 147gr hollow points. Great investment if you like a compact 1911 style platform. Oh, by the way, the EMP is not just a scaled down 1911, it was specifically designed around the 9mm cartridge and has 15 newly engineered parts to help make it ultra reliable for that shell.

thanks. looking to get one for my Springfield XD. I now have a Blackhawk Serpa that I use occasionally for CC, but mostly for competition. this model looks like it would conceal much better, and hold the gun much closer to the body. might have to pick one up. do you carry OWB or IWB with it? what about the different attachment options?
-
anybody have any experience with this (Knoxville) company making kydex holsters? looks pretty similar to Raven Concealment. any thoughts/comments?
-
Welcome neighbor. i am in a similar situation. Got a few pistols, love shooting the action pistol sports. Getting my 12 year old into handgun/shotgun/rifle shooting as well.
-
you just need to start shooting Action Pistol matches. . .IDPA, USPSA both will offer what you are looking for. only downside. . .it is on their schedule.
-
Crossbreed, CompTac, BladeTech, Milt Sparks, Raven concealment. . .just to name a few these manufacturers all offer very popular IWB holsters. Most people on the XD Forums definitely recommend the Crossbreed Supertuck.

Videos from Secret City Challenge, ORSA IDPA match
sschrick replied to Glock26's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
congrats on the match. hope you continue to come out to ORSA and shoot with us. -
at my club, there is some time to pick up brass, but you might not get it all. there is still some obligation to help paste targets and reset the stage for the next shooter. It is pretty annoying when everyone in the squad does not do their part to help out. just takes longer to reset and get ready for the next one.

following on Spiffy's comments above. . . here is a tidbit of info on some changes from Joyce and the podcast. . . http://www.balloongoesup.com/blog/epi014_ipda_rulebook_change/

I use a paddle, never had anyone say anything about it. It does keep the pistol pretty close to the body.

you definitely have enough info here to participate. . .don't just be an onlooker. you will hate yourself for it
-
maybe my response was too understated. definitely not trying to misinform or mislead.

Most people prefer to use standard OWB kydex holsters (CompTac, BladeTech, Blackhawk, etc. . .) Although I do see many people running their IWB holsters. Can't use an "open" style competition or race holster. Has to be a holster you could use for everyday conceal carry. Need 2~3 mags total. Usually one double mag pouch will suffice. Need a concealment garment; jacket, vest, overshirt, etc. . . Gun style is just about anything, as long as it is not tricked out with high end optics, major modifications,e tc. . .9mm is the minimum caliber. Not sure where you are planning on shooting, but I think Cleveland Gun Club does IDPA and also ORSA (Oak Ridge Sportmans Assoc). you missed it by a couple of days. ORSA--Oak Ridge Sportsmans Assoc has IDPA the 1st SAT of each month, so if you could be in town on May 4. . .Also, they have USPSA on the 3rd SAT. ORSA is about 45min~1hr from Gatlinburg. not sure of other facilities up near that area. otherwise check out this sticky: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/48840-whenwhere-action-pistol-sports-3-gun-tennessee/
