  1. Only time I OC is while hunting, and that usually depends on where and what I am hunting. Nothing is worse then walking to your blind at 4am and turning the corner only to see Mr. Bear waiting for you.
  2. Personally I respect the right of the business to be able to post their preference just as I expect others to respect my right to carry. I view it the same as entering someone's house, your house, your rules. Now does that mean I will continue to support the business that's up for debate it depends on the business. Isn't it great to live in a country with choices?
  3. XDS or XDM here both in .45 although I suspect if I had a little larger cross section I would be tempted to carry my G20.
  4. I qualified with a Sig Mosquito, and carry an XDS .45.
  5. If they make it past our American Staffordshire, its a RIA 1911 .45 with Hornady XTP's, The wife keeps a Kahr 9mm on her side, again Hornady XTP's.
  6. .357 H110 and Hornady 125 gr XTP's. Shoot these out of a Marlin 1894 lever gun and I have been very satisfied for several years.
  7. I carry factory loads but practice with hand loads that I have tried to match as much as possible to the factory loads I carry.
  8. Thanks for the link , grabbed 5 boxes.
  9. Not the greatest price, but if you are simply looking for availability to build up here you go: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Ammunition/Handgun-Ammunition|/pc/104792580/c/104691780/sc/104372280/Federal-American-Eagle-40-SW-Ammunition-with-Ammo-Can/1214782.uts?WTz_l=SBC%3BBRprd1214791%3Bcat104691780%3Bcat104372280
  10. Hmmm. gotta say my trusty ol' G20. I use it as a secondary while hunting so I have spent many hours with it suffering.
  11. I have reverted back to good old elbow grease and a toothbrush for my cleaning purposes, not to say I have never attached a cleaning rod to a power drill to clean a really bad AK bore. . . I actually find I enjoy the bit of extra work these days. As for the cleaner, it is strictly for brass these days.
  12. I used my Hornady ultrasonic cleaner on the bolt and magazine for my Savage 114 (.30-06) using "gun parts cleaner" also from Hornady, and it stripped the bluing off of my magazine. Granted the parts where very clean, but be mindful of how your parts are finished and what type of solution you are using.
  13. I carry a XDS .45 and love it. You can get an extended mag that will raise you to 7 + 1. Recoil is not bad at all.
  14. I would check your seating die. Perhaps it is a tad too low and causing a bulge in the brass, or perhaps as already suggested the brass is too long. Is the bullet shape different? A longer bullet could engage the rifling sooner then say a shorter one. I have had this issue with .45 cap before. What I did was load a dummy round (no primer or powder) and set its length on the long side then let the slide ram it into place. It gave me a starting index for what the gun actually liked for that type of round (Hornady XTP).
  15. Remove: wood dowel and give it a tap.
  16. I'll start off and say your lucky the round did not go off out of battery. Two things i notice from the picture. First is it looks like the OAL of the round might be a tad long, and second the dimple in the primer where the firing pin struck looks a little close to the edge of the primer to me. I would start by measuring the length of your round and then matching that against a round that the pistol does like. I would also tear the round down and see if there is any powder in it.
  17. Thought everyone would get a kick out of this:   http://now.msn.com/teenager-blames-ninjas-for-gunshot-to-groin?gt1=50501
  18. Given that your responsible for that bullet even if it hits the intended target and keeps going or not, and the fact that a typical head is much smaller then the chest / torso region I would ask why? I can understand wanting the fastest possible resolution in a situation where one is forced to draw on a target, but I would say the best / safest course of response would be center mass and multiple shots. If your worried about penetration possibly look at the type of ammunition or caliber you are using for your carry.
  19. Thanks guys. Had the chance to take her to the range a day ago and I must say I was quite impressed. I love the sights on this gun. They offer a great picture that is very easy to obtain and hold. Recoil is a little on the jumpy side but nowhere near as bad as my Kahr 9mm.
  20. So I decided to upgrade from a Taurus to a Springfield XDS .45. I have some high expectations for this little guy.
  21. My socom is starving is starving to death!
  22. I also use the 10% reduction formula when swapping reg. for mag. primers and have not had a problem.
  23. Her and her types are one of the driving forces behind me deciding to leave CA for TN.
  24. I've received the typical canned responses as well.
  25. I experienced an unfortunate boating accident.
