  1. Ok so went to the range today. Listed data I am using as my base for a new load is 12gr aac #7 with a cast SWC 250gr. I worked all my loads in batches of 5 and went up incrementally from 9.5 to 11.1. No signs of over pressure No lead fouling what so ever Accuracy was amazing. I will continue to work this load up and then run it through the crony.
  2. I am going to the range tomorrow. I will cook up 3 seperate batches with slowly increased charges. If possible I will take pictures of the bore. Not sure if I can get a good angle since the comp locks the barrel to the slide for the most part. I'll report back after in case anyone else is interested in the results.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. I am aware of the leading possibilities which is one of the reasons I am experimenting with this specific alloy which is around 30 bhn. I have published load data for aac #7 so I will probably start there as it is a little slower then #5.
  4. Here's the question. I cast 100 .452 RNFP (Lee Die) 255gr bullets. Because of the high antimony content the bullets averaged out at 222gr. What if any considerations should I take into account for the weight difference? My first thought is that I would stick with 255gr load data as the size of the round is the same thus limiting case capacity. I would assume that velocity would more then likely increase since weight is different, unless the bearing surface of the bullet actually has more of an effect then the overall weight. Anyways, let the speculation begin. Round Details Caliber: 460 Rowland Powders: Accurate #7 / #5 Brass: Starline (New) Primers: Winchester (LP)
  5. +1 M1A
  6. Perfect timing for me as my HCP is due for renewal in a little less then a year.
  7. Does anyone have any info on what the birds are doing in the Big Sandy area around Land Between the Lakes? I am planning on doing a duck hunt out that way in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone has been out there this season.
  8. Go with what ever caliber you shoot the most consistantly with. One will probably work with you better then the other, in my mind thats your choice.
  9.  have been very happy with my XDs and XDm. I use both regularly as my primary carry although I do feel the XDm is a tad on the heavy side. For a full size, I would say look at a RIA 1911. They are very nicely put together and very affordable.
  10. +1 on a M1A. Very consistent and well proven platform. Very easy to configure and find places to handle modifications as well. Only issue I see with them is price.
  11. While I was in we had HK MK 23's as an option depending on mission. It all just depends.
  12. +1 on the Hornady spray. I can tell you from experience and being lazy that I forgot this important step when setting up my latest lock n load press. Very frustrating throwing charge weights all over the place and then having to disassemble, clean, dry, reassemble.
  13. I carry an XDS .45 as my primary CC and I absolutely love it. Enjoy!
  14. For warmer weather I carry an XDS .45. For colder weather I switch up to an 3.8 XDM .45. I have a slim frame and tend to wear fitted clothing so there is not much I can do before I start printing very obviously.
  15. I use both Lee and Hornady dies. I will admit that the Lee dies seem a bit tougher then the Hornady ones when it comes to full length resizing large rifle calibers. Yes I do love the lock ring system for my Lock N' Load press very convenient. When all is said and done though I still turn to my Lee single stage for my long range accuracy needs.
  16. I spent the first 5 years reloading in a garage located a block from the beach (CA). The only problems I experienced was rust forming on my casting molds. As others have said light oil and the occasional PM session with some steel wool . Never had a problem at all with powder or components.
  17. I love reading this every now and then.
  18. Ohh man this was just the laugh I needed this morning.
  19. Can I get this in 10mm please?
  20. As stated earlier I use H110 with 125gr. XTPs in my Marlin 1894. I have only shot 1 coyote with this combo, but it was very effective. Might actually be a little over kill for such a small target and I am only shooting from about 50 yards out of a barn down into a field when I decide to wait for them.
  21. I was instructed to always hand over both as it is considered courteous to the officer. I was also told in my class that yes, they will see that you are a HCP holder once they run you through in TN. I have also been stopped in CA for simply walking across a parking lot in Orange County and when I handed both over the Sherriff kind of freaked out said "sorry sir" and took off. Not indication of whether or not my TN information was visible to him. (No I was not carrying in the PRK)
  22. Glad you joined.
