Excellent report sir, you have a way with words. I'd probably enjoy another report, regardless the topic.

I know this was just a hypothetical question, but it is something I've given some thought. My hope is that all my TGO buddies are doing the same thing I am and covering the bases with my family unit as far as arms and training. I don't really intend to arm the unprepared masses. Those that survive whatever caused the EOTWAWKI situation and find their way to our group can do the laundry, gardening, food prep, ect...while we do the dirty work...haha. If at some point they prove themselves to be trustworthy then they might be given some training and a firearm, which there would be extras due to scavenging and various forms of attrition within the group. With that being said I would be focused on common calibers that can be found "scavenged" from most homes across the country. I have some novelty firearms in non standard calibers but the bulk of my collection could be fed from most any Walmart, armory, or residence.

Two juveniles charged for starting Sevier Co. wildfires
Danger Rane replied to xsubsailor's topic in General Chat
Where I grew up in Northern California it was almost every summer we would see these scooping out of Lake Shasta. Quite a site to behold, especially if out on a boat near the scoop site. They would usually have a couple small boats out there right before scoop run trying to herd the recreational boaters out of the way in time. Fast forward a couple years and I was a volunteer firefighter working on wild-land crews getting to see these and the retardant tankers up close from the receiving end. They are real game changers tactically. Not sure who came up with the idea of this as a viable water delivery technique (and I'm sure there were some pucker factor moments in the development phase) but they are owed some serious kudos for all the lives and land they have helped save over the years. -
Taurus/Rossi Circuit Judge Buttstock Cracking
Danger Rane replied to Sidewinder's topic in Long Guns
The plastic "tactical" stock is definitely shorter than any of the wood versions I've handled. I have the plastic version and I like it a lot, but the length of pull on it feels like that of a youth gun. I'm not exactly sure why they couldn't just send you the plastic furniture though, because as best I can tell all of the main metal components are the same across the .45/.410 models. -
I don't think those calibers are this or that comparable. I'd go as far as to say you "need" both, at least that's what I told the wife. I'd keep the .308 and save up for a 5.56 AR....and a .300Blackout upper to go with it.

Sorry for your loss. Beautiful guns, I'd keep them as he left them.

I was just about to ask my wife what in the world she had done to the iPad, then I came across this post...probably saved me an ass chewin. I guess I'm a creature of habit because I never like change, which is why I hate getting new phones and computers and having to figure out their newfangled layout. That being said, I always come around eventually and accept whatever change as my new "normal". And that's usually when it changes again lol. I do like the modern "clean" look of this layout TGO David, and I'm sure I'll get used to it. I certainly do appreciate all the effort you put into keeping the site up to date and running smooth, by far my favorite site on the interwebs.

Pre-Black Friday, Black Friday and Cyber Monday Gun Sales
Danger Rane replied to JohnC's topic in General Chat
For that price I'm tempted to get one and throw a conversion barrel in it. At that point it's essentially a 19 that could be switched back to .40 if ever needed. -
Oh nice, lucky indeed! I don't like it at all and it's a pain to go through the steps to turn it off every time you shift into drive.

I've been researching the same for my 1500 Hemi and have seen that some folks are not liking their muffler mod/swaps as much when the MDS engages. Supposedly it has a weird tone to it with some of the aftermarkets to include some of the magnaflow and flow master. Just an FYI worth investigating before pulling the trigger.

What's the worst that could happen....you end up quickly evacuating that big Thanksgiving meal and don't gain a bunch of weight. At least that's how I always look at the risk of a stomach virus. HBH is delicious, I would risk it all day long and twice on Thanksgiving.

AR500armor.com usually has a pretty good sale every Black Friday. Usually everything 20% off sometimes more.

I'd say for at least half the country it's just another day going back to work to pay the bills. The difference today is we can feel extra refreshed after showering in liberal tears.

That is a great looking gun! 45-70 is one of my "someday I need to get one" cartridges, and that gun looks like a worthy vessel.

You just described the VA to a T.

I second this. It's worth a trip.

Nice group, I would hate to get thwacked by one of those! Ive run some 170grn Sako subs in the past and they were horrible, we were not comfortable using them past 75m at light bulb sized targets. We got ahold of some 200grn Lapua and they were significantly better, usually acceptable to 150m with a 5-6mph full value. I think you guys are on to something with the super heavys. What kind of energy do you think you are getting off that at 100yrds?

My thoughts exactly!

If for concealed carry then I would suggest the 19. If not for concealed I would go with the 17 for many of the reasons mentioned above. If for competition I would go straight to a 34. If I was to do it all again I would have a 19 for daily carry and a 34 for everything else. Instead I went the route of tricking out my 17. If I could only choose one it would be a 19.
