The 24th is my son's Birthday and we asked him what he wanted to do that day. (Thinking this would kill my chances to be there.) He said he wanted to go to Range USA and shoot! It looks like we'll be doing the family thing at the meet! It'll be me, the wife and the boys. The daughter unit still hasn't taken to shooting yet.

The 24th will be my son's 12th birthday and I have no doubt he'd enjoy a trip to the range! (He regularly shoots my .45s but really prefers the 9s.) We'll plan to be there! Jay

jackdm3, Thanks for taking the lead on this. Waiting for the time and date and ready to be there! Jay

Sat a.m. would work best for me to get out of the house before the wife gets up!

'74 Chevy Nova donated by an uncle for Christmas, 3 months before I was old enough to get my license. It was beige with a beige vinyl top. For my 16th birthday, my parents took it to Econo to get it painted for me. They had it painted red and dyed the top SILVER so it would match the USFL football team from Memphis! Do you remember the SHOWBOATS? Some fond memories in the seats of that car though!

Different guns will hide better for some than others. My build allows me to conceal a 5" 1911 better than my XD45 Compact. Go figure? I guess the width of the XD doesn't lay down as well as the 1911. I have a MTAC with an XD shell and a 1911 shell so I'm even using the same holster when trying to hide them.

Did anybody see the news about the new bill that Curry Todd introduced that would make serving alcohol from 12am to 8am ILLEGAL? What a hoot! The news in Memphis went nuts. They were interviewing people on Beale Street about it. I think this is awesome and will give him a card to play against the restauranteers that are opposing any "guns in restaurants" legislation. You could almost see him smirking when he said that this was a good law because that's the time that most of the drinkers caused trouble. I couldn't ever be in politics but I sure can be entertained by it!

Yeah.... but I'm sure I'll be on the wrong side of the state from them. I have a guy at work asking about it already. What do you think I can get for it? 2nd Gen G19 with very, very slight holster wear (Have to look hard to see it.) 5 mags (2 are G17) Nylon sholder holster Nylon double mag pouch Original plastic case I was ballparking $550????

About a year ago, I bought a CZ PCR based on all the great reviews and have probably shot it more than anything else I have. I've really become quite fond of it. Last week, a friend at work came to me and offered me his Glock 19 (2nd gen) at a sweet deal. I couldn't pass it up because, well, it is a GLOCK 19, one of the most desired handguns on the market. A Glock 19 is simply the meat and potatoes of a carry handgun. I couldn't wait to shoot this piece of immortality! (I'd regretted selling the 26 I had years ago.) I took it to the range today and left disappointed. Sure, it was reliable and accurate as the CZ but, it just didn't have the same feel. My heart just didn't fall for it. Maybe it'll just take more rounds down the pipe. I think the CZ has spoiled me! I prefer the comfortable grip of the CZ to the blocky grip of the Glock. I don't know if anyone else has gone through the same thing but I think this 19 will be hitting the market soon. If anyone is considering a CZ product, you will not be sorry! Take the plunge.

I have a CZ PCR and love it. It has the alloy frame and it has never failed on me. The PCR does have the decocker and will hold 15 rounds of 9mm. Here is an old thread with some pics that I started when I received my K&D holster for it if you are interested. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/28679-received-k-d-holster.html Jay

Guns & Ammo in Memphis would have wanted $800 for the 1911! Ha.. Ha.. Ha...

Left-handed holster for right-handed person
jay1313g replied to wipfel's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I am right handed. One of the most comfortable ways for me to carry is with a cheap, left handed, Uncle Mike's holster in the small of my back. I do not "cant" it and reach for it with my palm out. This statement may start the "what if you were knocked on your back and paralyzed" responses but this method of carry is very comfortable for me personally. I don't carry that way all the time but it works for the quick "grab the gun and go" times. Jay -
My wife's uncle has a V10 and LOVES it! I haven't been shooting with him but he swears it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'd go for it.

I'm looking to get a 1911 after I've finished Christmas shopping for everyone else. (I love picking out my own gift!) I've narrowed it down to a RIA Tactical or SA MilSpec. The hardest decision I have is in regards to the beavertail. The RIA Tactical has it but the MilSpec does not. I am fairly mechanically inclined but adding a beavertail is a little more than I'd want to do. I know the SA is better overall quality and I will be spending more if I go that way. I understand that the XXX is only $xxx dollars more and the XXX is only $xxx dollars more but I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two. Bellshire has the RIA for $435 and the MilSpec I want is a SS one that I can pic up for $625. If you can suggest one between those prices I'm open to look for others. (Not a PT1911 fan though. :-\) The only rental 1911s at the range are higher end that have a beavertail so it's hard to tell how "important" a beavertail would be to me. I'd hate to get the SA without the beavertail and have to spend more money to get a gunsmith to install one since I'll already be at the top of my budget. What are your thoughts on having a beavertail on a 1911? Is it necessary or nice? Thanks! Jay

For Christmas, I bought my 7 yr old one of the Davey Crickett rifles. (Really cool camo on stainless.) I wanted to add a red dot scope to "tacticool" it up for him. I ordered the scope rail directly from Crickett and then realized it's too narrow to mount the red dot scope ($30 model from Wal Mart). The red dot scope says it fits a Weaver base. What can I use to convert the narrow scope rail to a Weaver base so this thing will fit? I'm sure there's something out there but I'm just not bright enough to know what to buy. Thanks! Jay

I hope we get a clean bill that will allow us to carry on Beale Street in Memphis. (I rarely go there but what they did really twerked me!) Personally, I don't OC but I just might parade up and down Beale with the .45 showing to all if a new law would allow it!

I can't recall who the dealer was but I think they were in Knoxville. It was not a name that I had ever seen mentioned on this board before. From what I read, you can get the "deal" on one Glock per year so if you are interested, I'd get signed up with them soon!

I have seen that you can pick up a great deal on a Glock if you are a member of GSSF. I believe it was as low as $389 on some models. However, I could only find one gun shop (in TN) that was listed as honoring that deal and it was in East TN. Does anyone know of any dealers in West TN that participate in this discount. I wouldn't mind becoming a member for $35/yr to save $100+ on a new Glock. (and get all the other benefits of being a member!) Thanks!

I went back to the gun shop where I bought it and none of the others were loose. I called the manufacturer and spoke to their gunsmith. He was very helpful and mailed me a Torx 25 (tamper proof) wrench to remove the stock and tighten the lock. (I offered to do the work if he'd send me the wrench.) He told me to call him if I couldn't get it tight but it sounded very simple. They were very helpful and I would highly recommend their service!

Bud's is blocked on my work computer so I tried to call them and received the "voicemail is full" message also. Too much business, I guess.

I picked up one of the little Crickett bolt action rifles for my 7 year old for Christmas. This one is the camo/stainless combo and has an internal safety lock in front of the trigger guard. (2 "round" keys came with it) This lock seems very loose in the stock to me. Does anyone else have one with the internal safety lock and is yours loose also. I glanced quickly though the book that came with it but didn't see anything about the internal lock. Thanks! Jay

Smith, Lie down in front of the van and look near the inside of the front wheels. You should see a shaft coming from the transmission to the wheels. (about 2-3 feet long) This is your Constant Velocity axle. There are two rubber "boots" on each axle. One is near the transmission and the other is near the wheel. These boots cover the moving joints that allow the axle to move up and down while still spinning the wheels. More than likely, you'll find one that has rotted or been cut by road debris and slung its grease all under the van. When that joint is no longer greased, it will start "clicking" and eventually break. Better to get it handled sooner rather than later. Let me know what you find. Jay
