  1. IWB comfort can depend on body build. I am 5'10" and 180 lbs. The most comfortable carry for my Warthog is MOB with a Galco holster. (I carry my KelTec P3AT in a wallet holster in my back pocket. Love it but not much firepower.) I've carried MOB for so long, it feels as comfortable as my wallet. When I don't have it there, it feels weird. Anything on the hip tends to dig in. I know there will be some to decry the behind the back carry but, I'd rather have it there than not carry because it was uncomfortable.
  2. I did make a visit to Sportsman's Warehouse this week and picked up a Ruger MK III 22/45 with the 5 1/2 inch barrel. I'm waiting for her to be in a good mood before I present it. (Not that wives can be moody.) If I never post again, know that I appreciated all of your feedback!
  3. I took the wife shooting a couple of weeks ago and she didn't care much for my Warthog. I told her that she would be OK with anything because a small, light framed. .45 like the Warthog was about as bad as it could get. (Excluding 50 caliber and other oddities.) She likes to shoot .22 rifles and will make a smooth transition to pistols once I get her something to learn on that has less "bite".
  4. I've thought about getting a .22 to train the wife and kids (teenagers) with. I've always been partial to the Ruger. Thoughts? Suggestions? Jay
  5. Jason, I'm not sure about the Taurus but the Bersa is a solid gun and would be hard to get rid of. Where do you shop for your guns in Memphis? I hate to go to Guns and Robbery on Summer. I've had very rude service almost every time I've been there and refuse to buy from them unless I have to.

    Kel-Tec .380

I love mine and carry it everywhere. It is too easy to hide even when you are "not" supposed to have it. It will jam if you limp wrist it but I carry it as a two shots and get the hell out of there weapon.......
  7. I also have a 26 and a Kel-Tec like betobeto. I have to dress in a tie for work so I always have the Kel-Tec with me. It really feels weird without it in the back pocket. It's kind of like forgetting your wallet. I take the Glock out on the weekends when I can actually conceal it. We probably have 5 guys walking around with Kel-Tecs at any given time where I work. Pretty safe place to be.
  8. I took the class a few years back at Top Brass in Millington. They offer a good class but they are kind of like an old comfortable bar. Range USA is a little more expensive but a lot more professional. I'll be sending the wife there for her permit class this summer.
  9. I have a Crimson Trace on my Glock 26 and love it. It turns on and off with the amount of pressure I squeeze with. If I should ever have a confrontation, hopefully, the red dot will be all that is needed to diffuse the situation.
  10. John Wall, Thanks for the offer. I do have a 26 w/Crimson Trace grips now. The Glock is an excellent gun but I borrowed and shot a full size 1911 and liked it very much. I was comfortable with the "push" of the .45 rather than the "snap" of the .40s that I have shot before. I'm considering moving from the 9mm to a .45. I need to rent both and put some rounds down range. It's cheaper than buying something you don't like.
  11. I'm considering trading/selling my G26 w/Crimson Trace Grips for a new G30SF but I haven't see one out there yet. Can anyone that has held both of the models comment on the difference in the size of the grip from the regular G30? I have average sized hands that fit the G26 well but don't know how they'd do on a G30.
  12. Hmmmmm.... Thanks for chiming in Phillip. I posted earlier about always meeting the LEO at the back of the car with DL and HCP ready and several on this forum didn't respond to this favorably. I have not been pulled over that many times but, I can conceive that my honest approach and respect for the LEO has kept me from getting the ticket or two that I probably deserved. I can see where this could be a safety issue but I've usually made it off the road and into a parking lot away from traffic. Search my car? Sure! I'm an honest law abiding citizen who happens to believe in the right to protect myself and my family by legally carrying a firearm. You won't find drugs, alcohol, kiddie porn, or etc. in my vehicle. (The worst you'll probably find is an old AC/DC cd.) By the way, I have never been asked to have my car searched. So much for the honest, respectful approach.
  13. I don't get to shoot as often as I like but I'd be willing to try to get a group together to meet. Maybe Range USA would cut us a "group deal". Are you tight with anyone up there. I live just down the road from you in Arlington by the way.
  14. What are your thoughts on these two? I've heard rumors of jamming issues with the "less than full size" 1911s and I'm familiar with Glocks. I'm not as thrilled with the girth of the Glock though. What is your experience?
  15. I have several guys at the office that have CC permits and I'll see if I can gather everyone up for RangeUsa on Friday.
  16. The rubber, definately.

    G19 vs Sig P226

Your 19 and $100 for the 14 yr old Sig??? Can't justify that. Sigs are tough but you would be hard pressed to beat the 19. I vote NO!!!
  18. I liken Glocks to sledge hammers, maybe not pretty but, they get the job done in the right hands. My G26 has never failed and I can conceal and take it almost anywhere!
  19. Been signed up for a couple of months but finally getting around to posting. Married for a while with three great kids that I would do anything to protect. I am passionate about CC and will speak to almost anyone about it. Fortunately, where I work, CC is just shy of being encouraged in our professional environment. I normally carry my Kel Tec .380 at work but fit the Glock 26 in when I don't have to have a tie and slacks on. I appreciate the open discussions here and would like to see this site grow with more people from West TN. I'll see if I can get the word out in my area!
  20. Believe it or not.... Never had a problem. I've had the LEO have his hand on his weapon and once ask why I got out of the car. I replied that my firearm was in the car and I thought he might prefer meeting around back or in his car. He smiled, asked me why I carried, advised me how they just changed the speed limit in that area, and told me to have a good day. I have been traveling in about a 150 mile radius around Memphis for almost 10 years and no problem yet. Thanks for the advice about the officer's safety violation, wasn't aware of that.
  21. A couple that lives across the street from me took their class together and mailed the applications on the same day. Hers took 4 weeks and his took 10 weeks. He has been through Federal Background checks because he does work at airports and such. I kept teasing him by telling him not to worry, "I'm sure she'll protect you!"
  22. Right or wrong, I've always met the LEO at the back of the car with my driver's license and permit out and ready to hand over. I'll leave the weapon in the car (and advise the LEO) when I do this. Some LEOs may not like this but I've never had a problem. Actually, it has kept me from getting a few tickets, I believe.
  23. Would the same people that post the sign be the same ones to thank you for saving their life?
