  1. Just acquired a Combat Commander in a trade. Slide reads Colt Combat commander both sides. Frame is steel, Ser. No. is 70sc41xxx. I could easily be wrong but best I can do with searching it was born either 1974-1975. Also did Colt make two tones like this back then (grayish/black) or did a previous owner likely do or have the finish changed? Can one of you Colt guys/gals give your input on date & two-tone finish please? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
  2. Yeah... what he said.
  3. COOL ! Take her to the range and after that she will want one on her night stand
  4. Like that OD !
  5. I have a Bianchi dress belt ( tan ). I like it fine but I just like webbed belts and the reversible aspect seemed nice. I just worried about the thickness but from your comments it sounds like it will be fine. Ordered one today. Thanks everyone - and thanks Patton for taking time to show pic.
  6. Thank you both for your input - I value your opinions here at TGO
  7. Anyone have one of these in 1.5" ? Was wondering if they are too stiff from the "double layer" or bulky in the buckle area ? CCW and IWB. Trying to cut costs. Thanks
  8. In case it helps here are a few photo comparisons of the Tiny Sig P238 and the Sig P290. My thoughts: I am very happy with the pistol over all. Pros include- Very small size easy to carry. Light weight ( some may think it heavy for CCW especially since it is a polymer pistol but not me ) Which brings me to next pro and that is a very robust slide & barrel rated for all-time use of +P and +P+ ammo. Great SigLite Night Sights are standard and mine was packaged with a laser that is bright, easily adjustable, and small- I hope it will prove durable, we'll see. Chambers, fires with little recoil, and ejects like a dream with several ammo types ( some real cheap stuff as well ). Single Stack grips are very thin and I like them but some people won't. Grip surface is very aggressive. Came with a 6 round mag and an extended 8 round mag, kydex holster in box. Cost is not bad for a decent Sig, and the P290 is much more than just "decent" IMO. Cons, as I see it. DAO trigger could be improved ( Wish it was more like the Kahr trigger ). For a CCW pistol it works fine but for target it needs less stacking and some smoothness. My biggest complaint. Guide rod is plastic- I just like to see them in steel- it will cost me $25 to change if I decide to. New pistol holster availability ( will just have to wait for good choices ) See Specs here: http://www.sigsauer....stols-p290.aspx
  9. Wife and daughter both have a P238. We love them for our particular needs. The ACADEMY STORE in Chatt has them for $479 if that helps. Paid over $600 ea. for the two we have but one had to be an SAS and the other a Blackwood to please the girls
  10. I would at least try the other 50 rounds. What does "break in period" mean anyway ? What is the difference in a hammer not seating fully at first and a FTF/FTE ??? I know how that feels but don't tell me that every new pistol must be expected to fire perfectly out of the box. Doing the extra 50 will at least help your case -if it does not resolve it. I don't own one and I am not affiliated with Sig but I have bought pistols from great companies that had break in period hiccups and then became completely operational... and I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  11. Next excuse you can use is 13 is "unlucky" and so you need at least one more.
  12. Got a PM40. Love everything about it so far.
  13. Shoulder holster works for me while on doody.
  14. I walk like Chester on Gunsmoke- cause I have a LAAW ( Light Anti-Tank Assault Weapon ) in an IWB Scabbard... I put a rail with a laser & a flashlight on it. Best of all it has an 8 track tape player on the rail that plays ' Ride Of The Valkyries ' when I switch it on...most of the time. Anyway my .22 BUG has finished off more than the LAAW cause I use it during BC and "mop-up" on the moaners & groaners. It will do the job dandy when the projectile is placed right. Been thinkin' on getting a magnum.
  15. On a serious note if Threeeighty is ever caught in a SHTF situation he will likely be the only person there with items needed at his disposal. I don't currently own one but I never felt outside of manhood or had the feeling I had too much while carrying my gear in "bags" as a Marine. You can put an unbelievable amount of handy/critical items in one of those. All of us without one are very much less prepared than the OP. Congrats Threeeighty ! I am looking for one myself now.
  16. Great post ! Thanks. ( I will also include a copy of the Bible in my BOB.)
  17. I'm there but not seeing my actual address .
  18. Another vote for the Springfield.
  19. Ruger Single Six ? Wife has one with .22 LR / .22 Mag cylinders. 2 lbs of cheap, pure fun.
  20. My favorite EDC is the Kahr PM40 If you are accustomed to a .380 that SP101 is going to feel like a brick to carry ( had one ).
  21. Checked both out pretty thoroughly - Held & close eyeballed both. Bought the EMP and do not regret it.
  22. Great post ! Thanks
  23. Just got my EMP yesterday. Put a hundred rounds through it same day. Was using 115 gr WWB and had 1 FTF which I attribute to lower-grade ammo. I absolutely love the pistol and think it will be a keeper ( rare for me ). I like the full size 1911's also but this will be great for carry. When I clean this one I will just lick it a lot.
  24. Geno

    Found my new love

Congrats ! I know how you feel. And that is a very nice sidearm.
