  1. Sorry for your loss. Savor the time you spent with him. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born. I would love to have the memories you must enjoy. I like the t shirt thing you have going there.
  2. An old girlfriend used to say  I was tough as whitleather. It sounded to me like she was calling me Tuffus Whitleather so it became my alter ego. An expression I had never heard at that time.
  3. Scored some Remington Golden Bullets, 525 round box at Midway today for $20.99. Called my brother, sold out 5 minutes later. Shipping was $19.00 but I added a holster for my S&W 686 to offset the shipping and the charge became $15.25 for shipping for both items. I wonder how they decide shipping charges.
  4. I saw some nice mountain bikes at MOAB in Murfreesboro with 29" wheels last week in the $400-$500 range. Nice bikes for the money and they will make sure the bike fits you. Any good bike shop will do that. Be sure and leave with a helmet. It might save your noggin some day and if you do any organized rides you'll have to have one anyway.
  5. Next you will be riding the BRAT (Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee). I do it every year. Great fun.   http://thebrat.org/
  6. S & W 686 plus. Fits my hand perfectly, points naturally, dependable. Second choice is FNP 45.
  7. I have an 8 year old Scag Turf Tiger with the 27 hp Kohler, 61 inch cut. I mow 5 acres and it's been a great mower. I would buy it again.
  8. If you are worried about bears, load up with hard cast bullets, no hollow points. Penetration is important. I carry a .44 mag when I'm hiking is east Tennessee. I've seen plenty of bears and never had any problems with them but it only takes once. Of your choices I'd go with .45+p with a hard cast round like maybe Buffalo Bore. They claim they can penetrate a bears skull.
  9. Great bike, I'd like to have one myself but it would look kinda strange with my Brooks B17 saddle on it. My old butt likes to be pampered.
  10. Definitely wear the helmet. A helmet is much cheaper than a CAT scan. I know of a woman in Camden that rode around the neighborhood years ago and just fell over at about 2-5 mph, hit her head and died. It's not how fast you are going but how far you fall before the noggin hits the pavement. Have fun and be careful. I ride about 3000 - 4000 miles a year and it's great fun and good for you too. Get involved with a local club and see how much more fun you can have.
  11. The phrase I've  grown anxious about is "Let me be clear". You know something bad is going to happen when he says that.
  12. Until the DHS took them over they were a part of the Treasury Dept. and investigated fraud, counterfeiting and other similar crimes. Not sure what duties they still have now days.
  13. I try to stay stocked up on all calibers just for times like these. Haven't had to purchase any inflated anything but I still pickup a box or 2 at Walmart when it's available. I've sold some .380 and .22 to friends that were desperate. (No gouging on my part either) There's no stress in looking for ammo if you stock up in plentiful times.
  14. Snap caps in the cylinder? I hope. Could be Hornady Critical defense too though.
  15. "And yet it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines."   Since when is it legal to hunt humans in the United States? Having a limit on rounds to hunt ducks doesn't keep a hunter from hunting with a 7 round magazine, it's just illegal. You can't hunt humans legally even with a single shot. What a duffus.
  16. I am looking at getting a Mossberg 930 spx semi auto for home defense. Presently I have a Mossberg 500 Persuader pump. Both are 7 + 1 so the round count is the same. Am I really gaining much switching to semi auto? I like the idea of softer recoil and the sights are better than just a bead but I also like the reliability of a pump action. Opinions anyone?
  17. The picture and description is .22 LR but if you scroll down it's listed as 22 WMR.
  18. I always thought they were shafting everyone with their shipping prices but now the sticker shock is out the roof. They need to change their name. They aren't cheaper than anyone anymore.
  19. Patrick Leahy is next in line after Beohner. Not much improvement there.
  20. I had close to 10000 rounds of .22 but have been sharing some with my shooting buddies. I told them they could just replace what they borrowed when the dust settles. I try to always have plenty of .22 around because it's cheap and fun to shoot. I anticipated the shortage when Obama got re-elected but never this much on .22 especially.
  21. I have quick access to a large stapler at work but it holds more than 10 staples. Is that legal for self defense? Would that be considered an assault stapler?
  22. No damage at my place in the boro but the driving was slow on I-24 going to work due to hard rain. 50-60 mph. Hydroplaned once but not that badly.
  23. I went to DMV in the 'boro on Monday. 45 minutes. They took my picture again, I guess since I was there in person they might as well. Didn't want to take a chance on the mail since they sent no address with the application to send it in to. Probably could have done it by mail though. I got a confirmation in the mail the next day that it was being processed.
  24. The Streamlight is a nice addition to the Sig, the one on my FNP will light up the room and temporarily blind the bad guy. Good luck finding a 10/22 right now.  I was at Academy Sports today and 3 guys asked about one just while I was standing there. You will have to be at the right place and the right time to get one these days.
  25. Sig makes a fine gun. 1911's are fun to shoot. Have fun with it. Maybe I should get one too!!!!!!!!!!!
