  1. I took breathalyzer training years ago for work to do DOT testing. When we went to lunch I had 2 beers, 30 minutes later I had a bit of a buzz and blew a 0.00 on the machine. If you are .08, you are definitely impaired I can assure you. Anyone that feels a buzz should not get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Almost every blood alcohol I ever did, the patient "only had 2 beers". Even when they couldn't sit up and their level was way above legal limit.
  2. People killed by drunk drivers are just as dead as people that are killed by being shot. I had to deal with drunk drivers for 40 years in the ER and so many times they were belligerent and hateful to deal with, even when they had killed someone. They know they should not drive but do it anyway. Just as a shooter knows he shouldn't do it but does anyway.
  3. Another copy cat ice cream licking felon?
  4. I haven't tried the Glock but I do have the Sig p365 and like it a lot. Get the 12 round mag and you can get a better purchase on the grip and still pocket carry with pants with decent size pockets. I also bought 2 of the 15 round mags for spare and it feels like a bigger gun with it inserted.
  5. I have a 3 inch with fixed sights and I like it quite well. It hits what I aim at from self defense type distance but I've never taken many shots from longer range. It's not a target gun but for home defense or a truck gun it's great. I did paint the front sight with orange fingernail polish so these old eyes could see it better.
  6. I just got my first Hummingbird for 2019 today. Had my feeder out for about 3 weeks. Will add more feeders as the numbers increase.
  7. Normandy is a must. We went down into the bunkers on the beach and hooked up with a tour guide that told some enlightening stories about Americans that died there. He picked out a few graves and told their stories. One grave he talked about was this guy. Quite a story.
  8. In 9mm It's basically just a 9mm +P load. Probably the same for any other caliber. About 10% more pressure than a standard 9mm round.

    1911 Information

Dollar for dollar the Ruger is hard to beat. Springfield is a great value also.
  10. Prayers for you and your daughter and for you FourtyFive and your son.
  11. I think they already stopped selling guns but not necessarily by their own choice.
  12. I would feel comfortable with any of my .357's with a 4 inch barrel or longer but a .44 would give some extra thump if you can do follow up shots accurately after the added recoil. You could even find some less than full power loads with a little research to tame the recoil. If you decide to purchase a .44 though just go ahead and get a magnum rated gun, you can still shoot .44 special in it.

    LCRX 3" .357Mag

38's would work just fine but I like the option of .357 for bear country. I use the Gold Dot short barrel .357's in the snub version with not much more recoil than .38+p so I'm sure the recoil won't be any worse in the 3 inch model, probably less. In bear country though I would use 180 grain hardcast rounds and live with the extra recoil. Hopefully I wouldn't have to use it though.

    LCRX 3" .357Mag

I've been hoping for this exact model for some time now. I love my LCR .357 snubbie and have always been a fan of .357 in general. Would make a great hiking gun.
  15. When I took the class I had shot many rounds before deciding to take the class and brought a .22 LR. We had a young lady to show up with a borrowed 44 magnum and she had never fired a gun before. With the first cylinder emptied she never even hit the board that housed the target. Before the day was over (after a bit of personal instruction from the teacher) she was proficient enough to pass but the beginning was a bit scary for the rest of us.
  16. I have worked with too many people over the years with cancer in my job as a laboratory tech. I'm sure cancer has affected everyone on this board in one way or another. If you haven't had it someone close to you or friends have. Prayers to you fourty five and all affected by this vicious disease.
  17. I like the Shield too but don't own one, just purchased a Sig p365 for pocket carry. Shot it for the first time yesterday. 100 rounds with no hiccups. I like it a lot after the first trial. I'll be shooting more fmj and then hollow points before I will actually carry it though.
  18. I picked up a used Bersa Thunder about 3 years ago. Got the gun and 3 boxes of FMJ for $225. The previous owner only shot 1 50 round box before I got it. I must say it's been flawless so far.
  19. I own an FNP45, FNX9 and an FNS9c. All are more accurate than I am. I was surprised how well I shot the compact. It goes with me everywhere in an IWB holster. I did however just get a Sig p365 for pocket carry for times that I don't carry IWB for some reason. Haven't shot it yet but like the size. Love my FN pistols. Coveting the FNS 509 tactical at the moment.
  20. Another thing to consider is if you worked for the state or any local government entities. POMCO is a supplemental policy for Tennessee government employees and sometimes the institution you worked for will reimburse about $50 per month towards your premium. I worked for a county hospital for 30 years and was eligible for this because I am in the TCRS retirement program but local government didn't reimburse. State is a different matter though such as teachers. I went with UHC instead mainly because my wife is retired from Bridgestone and they reimburse through UHC plans.
  21. When I got an invitation from Farm Bureau in Murfreesboro for a Medicare seminar I went to see if I could get the info I needed to figure out what I needed. Excellent seminar with no pressure to buy from them. They even fed us beforehand. They have these workshops all over the place so check into one in Memphis. It was a great help for me to decide on what supplemental policy to get. I went with United Healthcare because there isn't a price increase each year due to age. I also got my drug plan through them with WellCare.
  22. I remember this incident from last year. The motorcyclist got a lawsuit settlement of $65,000 and the cop was suspended for 5 days. Didn't id himself as police at first but had his gun drawn. Things could have turned out much worse.
  23. What's sad about this video is that is was done to be serious. If I saw it on Facebook or somewhere I would think it's satire.
  24. I had a guy tell me once I could get a Fender made in Mexico by Mexicans or an American Fender made in U.S.A. by Mexicans. Anyway, I think you made the right choice.
