While obama has everyone in a tiff over the gun worries he slid in this executive order. This communication tool would be needed to organize any future government resistance http://www.theatlanticwire.com/global/2012/07/world-wants-obamas-hands-internets-switch/54459/

Doomsday preppers false sense of security
partypilot1 replied to Glenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
There are some really motivated preppers out there there who probably have some psychological disorders. I would even go as far to say, some shouldn't own firearms due to the threat they pose during an emergency, one which doesn't call for shooting your neighbors because you thought they were zombies. By enlarge, the general pubic recognizes that "preparing" is a normal psychological response by some when dealing with the stresses of uncertainty, which would include economic uncertainty. -
I ditched the tent years ago for a small pack hammock about the size of my fist. I also carry a 6x8 tarp, which at an angle, serves as a rain fly over the hammock. I keep the weight down on the pack by having dual purpose items. The tarp is an essential item it can serve as rain fly, rain catch, shelter, bag, stretcher, signaling material and a wind breaker. I always try to carry at least one can of benny weenies for the first night to use at a cup for the rest of the trip and eliminate any foods which require pots/pans/bowls or any other "single use" item. My sleeping bag is the only single use item that I carry which could serve other purposes if necessary.

Your dog sure was good last night, neighbor. I sure wished your cat tasted like that!!

That's why it's always best to conceal, even when walking in the mall. I'm sure you learned your lesson, if you like all the attention you received on friday then carry openly. I would assume that if you where in a foreign territory where inconspicuous behavior and concealment is a matter of survival you would be more diligent. Thankfully you don't have to (yet) but until then it's best to blend

As a primary carry weapon, the .380 is a very poor choice. Moreover, using any blowback operated firearm as a primary carry, when you have a choice, is a poor one. The firearm, which is already "low-powered", suffers greater energy loss from the action operation (cycling a cartridge). Let's call to mind Newton's third law, for every action there is an equal yet opposite reaction. The firing bullet uses the back of the gun to project itself forward into space. A blowback operated gun uses that force to cycle the action, thus taking kinetic energy away from the fired projectile, which is already considered a low-powered round. Most, if not all, low-powered ammunition used in a pistol will be blowback operated because the bullet doesn't carry enough energy in the gasses alone to cycle the action of the firearm. The other issue to address is relying on hollow pointed ammunition to increase the temporary cavity that the .380 lacks. Failure to mushroom, improper mushroom or a "pre-mushroom" (mushroom on clothing, which greatly reduces kinetic energy before body penetration) is a likely possibility. Your safest bet will ALWAYS be more power for greater penetration. Greater penetration for faster incapacitation....

Please do not answer my questions, I forgot to add that they are rhetorical questions -

Can they do that? Non-registered guns? Can they tell this by looking in the window, at a distance? Is a gun without an owner attached illegal? Police Confiscate Illegal Weapon Downtown - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports -

Yesterday I watched someone holster a loaded firearm while pointed at their lower abdomen. Not slick -
becoming comfortable with one chambered
partypilot1 replied to 93civEJ1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If your holster covers the entire trigger guard, then you should only feel uncomfortable when the weapon is out of it's holster. Always be mindful of your trigger finger, which should be riding along the frame above the trigger and trigger guard. When holstering a loaded weapon, ensure the holster is pointed at the ground incase the trigger is caught while being holstered. Most holsters have a locking snap, which has the potential to position it's self on the trigger while holstering the weapon. Exercise trigger awareness until the holster is securely locked into place. -
Ashland City permit holder shooting / getting killled.

Caliber, does in fact matter, along with shot placement. This is the conclusion out of FBI's "Handgun Wounding Factors And Effectiveness" Physiologically, no caliber or bullet is certain to incapacitate any individual unless the brain is hit. Psychologically, some individuals can be incapacitated by minor or small caliber wounds. Those individuals who are stimulated by fear, adrenaline, drugs, alcohol, and/or sheer will and survival determination may not be incapacitated even if mortally wounded. The will to survive and to fight despite horrific damage to the body is commonplace on the battlefield, and on the street. Barring a hit to the brain, the only way to force incapacitation is to cause sufficient blood loss that the subject can no longer function, and that takes time. Even if the heart is instantly destroyed, there is sufficient oxygen in the brain to support full and complete voluntary action for 10-15 seconds. Kinetic energy does not wound. Temporary cavity does not wound. The much discussed "shock" of bullet impact is a fable and "knock down" power is a myth. The critical element is penetration. The bullet must pass through the large, blood bearing organs and be of sufficient diameter to promote rapid bleeding. Penetration less than 12 inches is too little, and, in the words of two of the participants in the 1987 Wound Ballistics Workshop, "too little penetration will get you killed."42, 43 Given desirable and reliable penetration, the only way to increase bullet effectiveness is to increase the severity of the wound by increasing the size of hole made by the bullet. Any bullet which will not penetrate through vital organs from less than optimal angles is not acceptable. Of those that will penetrate, the edge is always with the bigger bullet.44 -
in simple terms...pull the big spring off the back of the gun, move the the funny looking object (that touches the spring) back and forth until it seats in the right location. Hold in place until you put the spring back in it's place
-
It looks like you need to remove the mainspring from it's seat and reengage the hammer strut. In the video I don't see the mainspring being depressed when the hammer is being pulled. It's easy for the hammer strut to "look" in place when it's not.

I thought that was the beginning of a good story. I'm, however, on the opposite side of the spectrum and drink so I can't be called in to fly, haha

Making it a prescription drug wouldn't help the problem, the dope heads would just start injecting bath salts for a high, oh wait, they are starting to do that now. They do everything from inhale spray paint to eating plant seeds for a high. I believe it would be wise to teach people why not to kill yourself and let them make the choice. We are wasting our time outlawing everything that can hurt a person, we need to take the time to educate them in elementary school why huffing paint won't land you in the pilot seat of a jet, or whatever children are into these days.

Ways To Make A Home Secure?
partypilot1 replied to RobertNashville's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I recommend the typical defensive alarm system with signs, stickers and sirens. reinforce the the door with plating around the bolts, larger strike-plate and two inch screws for the hinges also include an additional locking point to spread out the force imposed on the non-hinged side. If you feel the need to have a "offensive" system I would include a few cheap curtain-side airbags from ebay in the wall in key locations at the six foot mark, separate arm/trigger, of-course. Run a 120vac out to the wood shed with "hot" on the lock and a "common" to the wire mesh floor mat (works every time). I would include large sign on the shed stating the high voltage defensive lock. If you do setup the "offensive" system, I would retain the services of some good attorneys!! -

Sounds like we got a real scientist here....Rationality IS the exercise of reason, again, one of the largest differences with humans. Faith, which I pointed out earlier, is another difference with humans, animals can't experience faith, they might trust and be loyal but not experience faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
-
Sad to hear you don't have the ability to reason, I sure do. Humans also have faith, except for those humans who choose to be animals...

I would get over it. Most, if not all, hospitals post no weapons signs. I wouldn't carry anyway because you might have to disrobe. They probably treated enough people from the "gun and knife club" in their career to develop a distaste for weapons. I respect them and their organization so I abide by the rules they set-forth.
