It was started by a guy in Texas from my understanding. He is an airline captain out there. He wanted to coordinate it nationally, but lacked the resources. So, word of mouth got the message out to everyone and now it is a national event. It happened pretty quickly. I just talked with one person that is bringing 15 of his friends. I am thinking the turn out is going to be very large. I will begin to convey the no guns message on my Facebook page this afternoon. This absolutely has to be peaceful with no confrontation of any kind.

Whos going to the state capital on the 19th?
This doesn't work for me....not found.
It is fixed now. The page was not viewable. I clicked on the wrong bubble when setting the page up and it kept it hidden. -
I fear this may be indicative of the level of organization in each state. Really concerned that Bad Things might happen in one or more. How is each state handling the issue of firearms themselves on that day? Quite important. Particularly in a state like TN where you may be legally confronted by LE for carrying any firearm. Anyone carrying a rifle here will really stick out. Quite concerned about these gatherings turning into a huge PR negative rather than positive. Don't get me wrong, admire you for stepping up to the plate, but still ..... - OS
Accidentally clicking on the wrong bubble when I set up the page is not indicative of anything. It was a simple mistake. I absolutely do not condone anyone carrying a rifle during the event. I urge people to carry signs, and maybe an umbrella if it rains. It needs to be strictly peaceful. Just a friendly gathering to voice our opinion. This is not a gun waving rally. I am not the sole person setting this thing up. I just started the Facebook page to get the word out. There were already people that were planning the event. I just felt we needed a good platform/advertisement to pass around.

WHERE: Nashville, Tennessee State Capitol Building (War Memorial area) WHEN: January 19th @ High Noon WHY: Support the Second Amendment!!! Just type "Guns Across America - Tennessee" into your Facebook search bar. Once you get to the page click "Like". I am now the official Tennessee state organizer for Guns Across America. If you have questions please let me know. I can tell you that this will be a great event. I just spent 3 hours on a conference call with the organizers in the other 49 states, along with the national organizers. I have speakers being lined up right now and I am working on more. There is a Right to Life rally at the Capitol building, so we will be assembling across the street at the War Memorial. I have obtained permission from the people at Legislative Plaza, so we are good to go. This is a public rally, so they have informed me that we do not need a permit or anything. I urge people to dress somewhat nice and to not have a rifle on your back. We do not need to feed the media stereotyping of gun owners. Bring a sign too, but please make sure all the wording is spelled correctly. Also, do not write any derogatory things on the signs. The media WILL be there. Please do not accept an interview unless you are prepared to do so. Also, in the event that an anti-gun person tries to start a confrontation please WALK AWAY. Thanks everyone!

I took the liberty and started the page. I will be there for sure. I will not do all the organizing, I am a novice at this stuff. However, I will do what I can. Needs to be peaceful whatever we do. http://www.facebook.com/GunsAcrossAmericaTennessee -
Sandy hook conspiracy? (Bring your tin foil hat)
Seabeejason replied to ProjectDexter's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I remain neutral on this. I choose not to believe that this is a conspiracy. I just can't do it. There is simply not enough hard core evidence that suggests this was all a hoax. I admit that the Facebook pages going up a few days before the shooting is something that is very alarming, but who is to say that this is not fabricated as well? Emily Parker's father laughing and cutting up just before the interview isn't normal to me, but I am not a shrink either. I can't imagine how I would cope with the loss of my child. People deal with things in different ways. What I do know is this. The Liberals in government are definitely using this to enact sweeping gun controls and potential bans. They are also wanting to create a "national database" (registration). We all know what this means. This event is now behind us and we have to deal with the repercussions. Whether you believe this shooting happened or not, the rest of America believes it. We have to fight the machine that has now mobilized against the 2nd Amendment and the rest of our Constitution. The fight is here regardless of what you believe. I am going to meet it head-on and everyone else needs to do the same if we are to keep what we cherish the most......FREEDOM. Keep your eye on the ball. Tyrants like distractions. -
Piers Morgan gets taken the the shed!
Seabeejason replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He said he supports a "national gun database", which is registration. He said he doesn't want it made public, but has no issue with the government having access to it. There is absolutely no way I will ever support something like that. I trust the general population more than I trust the government. Other than that he done an awesome job  -
Tennessee Lawmakers wary of any new federal gun laws
Seabeejason replied to QuietDan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Of course, the Liberal in Nashville would say he doesn't have a problem with new laws. The folks out in Nashville need to give his sorry ass the boot. -
State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
Seabeejason replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am on the fence about it, but the guy got on YouTube and stated "I am going to start killing people". He was a complete and irresponsible dumb ass for doing it. I see your point regarding the First Amendment. I read in the news where Black Panthers state that they would like to kill white people and absolutely nothing is done, because it is spoken word protected by the First Amendment and not a direct threat. We definitely have to be very careful about setting precedents. It could bite us in the ass, especially when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. The HCP thing is kind of a gray area. I agree that the TDOS should not have authority over the HCP program. Maybe we should lobby for that authority to be put somewhere else. It is clearly a problem that needs to be discussed going forward. The unfortunate fact is (at this time) that the HCP is a privilege granted by the state and the state can suspend it. It sucks, but we have to deal with it. In Missouri, where I am from, you can legally open carry or carry in a vehicle without any permit whatsoever. You need a permit to carry concealed. I find it odd that Tennessee is not at least similar to that being as Conservative as it is. This is another bag of beans that probably needs to be opened in the future. My opinion is that we should be able to carry without a permit. -
State suspends gun carry permit for James Yeager
Seabeejason replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
My stance is that the state done what was within their power. A hand gun carry permit (like it or not) is a privilege, not a right. The states do not have the right to completely deny your right to carry(Illinois is a good example), but they do have the right to regulate it (New York/NYC). The Supreme Court has affirmed this in their court rulings regarding the Constitution. Having a drivers license is not a right, it can be revoked at any time when the state has good lawful reason. The HCP is no different. Notice that they are not taking his guns from him. That is a right protected by the Constitution. The First Amendment does protect your freedom of speech. They are not prosecuting him for that. They simply suspended his carry permit because he actually stated he will start killing people if the current administration moved on stringent gun control measures. Who's to say what that "inch" really is to James? Maybe to him it is simply another statement by the Obama Administration. The state officials have to act accordingly. Especially, when that person posts the video on the Internet for millions of people to see. In the current climate, people are on edge. It was not an intelligent move for him to do something like that. All he accomplished was making gun owners look like loons. Not good for the cause. We are a VERY long way from any type of armed conflict, if at all. Honestly, my hope is that we never get there. It is the last thing we want to happen. War is hell. Also, does anyone really know what the outcome of a civil war would even be? Would our Constitution still be the law of the land when the dust settles? I prefer to win at the ballot box. I vote Republican. Maybe all the Independents out there learned from this push by the left to ban guns and will vote Republican during the next election. I think the Democrats showed their true colors during the last few weeks. That is good for our side. The state only suspended his HCP and I support that decision. He will likely get it back after they think he has cooled down. -
Came across this a few minutes ago. Interesting. Seems that Obama is acknowledging that getting an assault weapons ban through Congress isn't going to happen. They note that Obama will likely focus on "other measures". http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/11/us/politics/biden-to-meet-with-gun-advocates-including-nra.html?hp

I like how they keep saying the "overwhelming majority" of Americans want new action on gun control. The overwhelming majority of people I have spoken with do not support any new gun laws. They need to rephrase what they are saying to "the overwhelming majority of people that hate guns want new gun control".

An un-Constitutional law is NOT a law. They can kiss my ass.
