  1. I think Ron Paul is a reasonable choice myself. He is the best candidate that has ran in years. The man is truthful and definitely isn't corrupt. Which is a hell of a lot more than I can say about Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. Mitt & Newt are just as liberal as Obama. When Mitt Romney has to look at Ron Paul to answer a question about the constitution there is definitely something wrong.
  2. I am not much for buying a gun online. I like to see and hold the gun before buying it. So, the used Single Six's online do not even exist to me. I agree about the Heritage. I held a couple of them and they just felt too cheap. After holding the Ruger there is absolutely no comparison. I am a firm believer in the expression "you get what you pay for", especially when it comes to guns. The Ruger completely feels and looks like a better built gun. I think it is well worth the extra few hundred you will pay for the Ruger. As far as them being age specific I think that is partially true. .22 Revolvers have a certain appeal that sets them apart. For me, it is a combination of things. I think the quality is unmatched due to their simplicity and the fact that most are solid metal just like other revolvers. I am also a big history buff as well, so that plays a part too. I have also been around revolvers since I was a kid. But the ironic thing is that I have more shooting experience with polymer guns. I think there is something about a good revolver that you just can't get with a poly gun. They are guns that can be handed down through generations. I will always have a weak spot for a good revolver.
  3. "You will never ever regret getting a Glock 19 or 17 or xd9 or xdm9 all very affordable!!!!!" You stole the words right from my mouth. I like the 19 and 17, but I am definitely a sucker for a Springfield XDM. I had a XDM 9mm and loved it. I regret selling it. I held a 4" XDM 9 earlier and liked it even more than the full size one I had. It just shot straight to the top of my list of must haves.
  4. That was a helluva deal. I got mine for $440.00, which was a bargain. A used one would likely be over $600 with taxes included at the store. And that is if you can even find a used one. The new ones go for close to $600.00 before taxes from what I have seen. The only store that has one around here is WD Sporting Goods in Alcoa and it is a new one. Finding a used one from an individual is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. It is nearly impossible.
  5. I am a very conservative individual when it comes to gun laws. With that said, I believe most folks use their best judgement when selling a gun to another individual in a private sale. There is actually a lot at stake. If that person you sell to takes that gun and commits a crime, you could possibly be held partially responsible. I actually make people sign a Bill of Sale and show me an I.D. when I trade or sell a firearm. It covers my behind and makes me feel confident that individual is not a felon or criminal. You just have to use your best judgement. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....it's a duck! If I feel that a person is possibly a "bad guy" I will not sell him a gun. Now, even if this "loop hole" is closed it will not mean anything. People will still find a way around it. A dealer is a licensed retail sales business that has to obide by federal and state regulations and taxes. Once I buy a gun it is my property and I have the right to do what I want with it. If I want to take it and smash it with a hammer it is my business, not the governments or anyone else's. It is a statistical fact that gun owners are much less likely to be victimized than non gun owners. A criminal will get a gun no matter what because other criminals will sell them that gun. If government blocks an everyday citizen from gun ownership in any way criminals will exploit that and they will prey on those same innocent individuals. The right to bear arms is paramount to keeping those dirt bags at bay. I know that is a different issue entirely, but if government closes this "loop hole" it will only lead to further and more strict gun laws in the future. This is not a loop hole at all. It is part of the liberty and freedom that was fought for throughout our countries history. It should not be taken away by anyone.
  6. Thanks! I am already thinking about grabbing another one just so I can holster two of them on a belt. Just like the folks done back in the wild west days. It would be a blast to pull out two of them at the same time and destroy a row of cans. That will be a while though. The gun fund is completely drained now.
  7. Wayne (R1100R) just said he might have to post his up for sale soon. You may want to ask him about it and see if you two can work a deal. He lives in Gladeville, which is near Nashville. Not sure how close that is to you. Take a look at his post above. Wayne, are you willing to part with that Single Six?
  8. I agree guys. It is a very nice gun. It completely puts my Glock to shame when it comes to how solid and pretty it is. I look at it like a woman looks at a 2 carat diamond. It is EXTREMELY unlikely I will ever sell or trade it. It will be one of the guns I give to my child (or possibly children if we have another one) once I get older. It will definitely be sitting in the safe with my 1965 Marlin Golden 39A from here on out. Which is a gun I have had since I was 4 years old. It was my first gun and the first gun I ever fired. I had the Golden Marlin Golden 39A sold to my neighbor last week for $450.00. But when I was fixing to finalize the sale I backed out. I just couldn't do it. I am glad I didn't now. I thought it was a 1958 model for a long time. But after researching it again I found out it is a 1965 model. I am going to head to Bills Outpost tomorrow and pick up some .22 magnum ammo to shoot this weekend. I already have 700 rounds of .22lr ammo. So I'm good there.
  9. The wife is going to kill me. I caught an extremely good deal on one from a fellow TGO member. I wanted to post this to brag about the gun a bit. I have to say that this is a really solid and well built revolver. Everything about it screams quality. From what I have read they are very accurate as well. This is the new model that includes the .22 magnum cylinder as well. I can't wait to take it to the range this weekend. I'll let everyone know how it goes. It is a beautiful gun and I especially like the ivory grip. This is the only Ruger Single Six I have seen with this particular grip. I also just found out that there is now a Ruger Single Ten as well. The only difference is that it has a 10 round cylinder instead of a 6 round cylinder....and it costs more.
  10. I do not believe the world will end in 2012. The Mayan calendar is just over 5000 years long. Are they saying that the world began 5000 years ago? I don't think so. We will have a galactic eclipse/alignment on December 21, 2012. That has no merit either because it has happened multiple times in Earths history. Plus, we are less than .1 degrees from an alignment at this very minute. I am concerned about the solar maximum currently in the works for this year though. A huge solar storm could disrupt electronics world wide. But once again, that's not a huge concern. As for Nostradomus, his quatrains are open to interpretation, just like the Bible. So, that isn't a huge concern either. My concern, and one that should be yours too, is that we are definitely headed for economic collapse. I have studied economics and business extensively. It is going to happen. It is just a matter of when the last domino falls. Take a look at the world right now. Countries are going bankrupt and wars are brewing. China is building massive resources, including military. Russia is chomping at the bit to get the U.S. into a tight spot. A war with Iran is on the horizon. China and others are pushing for the dollar to no longer be the world reserve currency. When that happens the dollar will be no more. I think the tipping point will be a war with Iran. The entire Middle East will jump in and Russia and China will not be far behind. North Korea will then go after the south. Israel will get hit from all sides and the United States will be right in the thick of it all. The rest will be.....well, history. End of the world? I do not see that happening. End of the world as we know it? Definitely. It will not be an end, but likely just a new beginning. It has happened throughout history. History repeats itself. I just hope people do not get nuke happy. That would be very bad. I am preparing for an economic disaster. I already have over 1000 rounds of 5.56/.223. Over 200 rounds of 9mm. I just got a tactical vest and molle pack. I just got a good Ka-Bar knife and fire starter. I am now looking into first aid supplies, medicine, water treatment, water, food/MRE's, gasoline, small stove, wood matches, etc. I am also planning on getting more ammo and a couple extra guns. I am also looking into some really good cold weather gear for the family. We plan on heading out to Missouri if something happens. Our family there has ammo, food and other supplies already. It is much less populated there too, so game is more plentiful. Plus, I am going to store some stuff there during the next trip home. If the economy goes down the tubes you will not be able to get gasoline at all. So that is why I am storing some gasoline. The cost for all this is pretty high, but I think it is a worthy investment for the family. If nothing happens, then so be it. If it does, we will be somewhat prepared.
  11. I just grabbed a Ka-Bar Tanto off Amazon for $50.00. Can't wait until it gets here.
