  1. Good catch. I will definitely have to check into that one. Sometimes these politicians can be pretty sly.
  2. No, he doesn't. The high property taxes in Illinois were not Obama's doing. But they are the doing of the uncontrolled spending of the state government, which is primarily liberal. They spend more and so they tax more, so they can spend more. It's a nasty little cycle. Sound familiar? I am sick of being taxed to death. At least I do get some relieve by living in Tennessee. Having no income or personal property tax really helps. I just got a bill from the state of Missouri saying I owe them $500.00 for personal property tax because I lived there for 6 months in 2011. It is not right that residents of some states get taxed on their property every year. It is honestly a travesty. What is sad is that Missouri is supposed to be a red state. That just goes to show that even folks in the GOP like to levy taxes on their constituents. But Missouri is still not near as bad as their neighbor. Raising taxes is fine, but when you do it without making spending cuts it is counter productive. The current Democrats are all about raising taxes to help "reduce the deficit", but they want to keep all these ballooning social programs and continue enabling welfare junkies to live off the system instead of having the motivation to get out there and work.
  3. I love revolvers. They're dependable, simple, and really cool. I have 3 in my little collection. A Ruger LCR .38, Ruger Single 6, and a Ruger Blackhawk .44 magnum (my most recent purchase). Can't go wrong with a good Ruger revolver. My next one will likely be a Ruger Redhawk.
  4. I guess I am going to just suck it up and vote for Romney. I am honestly pissed that I have to choose to vote for him. There is no reason that we should not have a more viable GOP candidate to run for POTUS. Romney was picked for us by the people that pull the strings long ago. The primary was just another dog and pony show like always. Our candidates are always bought and paid for by the highest bidder and frankly I am sick of it. With that said, I do not want Obama to have a second term. Seeing him not put his hand on his chest during out National Anthem, call the White House Christmas Tree a "holiday tree", and lately catering to all of this hate crime crap has done it for me. He is viewed as a joke by dictators overseas because he apologizes for everything that happens. He is doing NOTHING to help bring down fuel prices like he promised he would do in 2008. And like many others on here I do believe he will go after gun rights if he is re-elected. He has clearly expanded government too far with signing NDAA and Obama care. After all, he was a Senator in Illinois. That state has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, the highest tax rates, and has one of the highest crime and welfare rates in the nation. The state of Illinois is literally on the brink of bankruptcy because they can't seem to manage their finances, even though they have such a huge tax rate. I have heard of real estate taxes hitting $14,000.00 on a single home each year! My sister has a home in southern Illinois that is worth around $70,000 and she paid $2000.00 in taxes last year just on her home. That is ridiculous. There's my reasons for not voting for Obama. Socialism and high taxes do not do anything good. They stagnate business growth, take from hard working Americans, and enable lazy welfare junkies to continue sponging off the system while turning a blind eye to criminals. He has to go, and sooner rather than later.
  5. I will not say what would have happened if I would have been there when those animals assaulted that innocent man. What I can say is that those pieces of trash would have never done it again.
  6. Yup. Went to Bills the other day and he had another one on the shelf. Not sure if it's still there though
  7. Ruger LCR in a brown leather OWB holster. It's light weight and packs one hell of a punch.
  8. Better do it now, prices are going up. I dropped by the gun store today and they told me the price just went up in the last couple days.
  9. I got it at Bills Outpost in Maryville. They had one of each color....black, green, and navy. Now they only have the navy and the black one
  10. I got a Ruger LCR and it fits nicely in the pocket. Only bad thing is that there is no safety other than the long trigger pull. That's why I OWB holster mine. They do make some good pocket holsters for them though.
  11. I open carried today. I can care less if people "freak out" about it. I have a permit that says I can.
  12. I really like it. It is definitely my carry gun of choice. I hardly even notice it while I am carrying. I usually open carry, but it also fits perfectly in my pocket as well. I absolutely love the grip on it too. In a defense posture it would be extremely hard for a perp to grab the gun from my hand. I haven't shot it yet, but I likely will in the next week or so. This one will replace my LC9. The LC9 is a good gun, but it just didn't do it for me. I bought the OD green version of the LCR. I didn't even know they made other colors. When I seen this one I had to have it.
  13. Lol, the wife usually checks the mail everyday because she stays at home. For the past week I have been checking the mail when I got home even when she had checked it already. I have also bugged her every day before coming home from work. All she heard from me for a whole week was, "did I get my permit in the mail"? I almost missed the tiny envelope among all the junk mail. I didn't see it until I thumbed through the mail for the second time. I took the Wally Walk earlier and as suspected not a soul noticed I was even carrying.
  14. Finally got it today. I submitted the application and got finger printed on February 28th. Got it 26 days later. I'm glad it came today because my daughter just got out of the children's hospital this afternoon. I wouldn't have had the chance to enjoy getting the HCP in the mail if I would have gotten it last week. Can't wait to do the Wally Walk later today.
  15. I have had a lot of people walk up with these cards claiming that they are deaf and asking for $2.00. It has happened twice in the Alcoa Wal-Mart and once at a Maryville car wash. I now find myself wondering if these people are faking it to get cash off unsuspecting people. I gave them all money, so it has worked on me.
  16. It's not "A" dent. It is actually two large dents and a couple small ones. She struck the pole just forward of the rear fender well. It did not crease, but it is going to be a difficult job for a PDR person. I have taken it to 4 body shops and they have all said that it can't be fixed without new paint. I am still going to take it to anothet dent person on Monday to see if he can fix it. If he can't then I think the GM dealer is the way to go. We'll see how it goes.
  17. I agree. The dealership said he would likely come in at under $800.00 so I will likely just give them the work. Not to mention the fact that they can do it a week from now. The Dent Station will not get to it until May. I am really hoping this dent guy I am meeting with on Monday can get the dent out. I know that there are a few folks out there that are extremely good at PDR. Maybe he is one of them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.....
  18. Reminds me of some of the flags you see in communist countries. I have to say that seeing anyone's face in place of the stars on our flag is very disgraceful.
  19. I am a bit hesitant to let The Dent Station do the body work. They have a nice little shop, but I still feel that a GM dealer would do the best work. I went to Beaty Chevrolet (where I got the truck) and their body shop said that they could do it next week. They will have the truck for about 5 days. He said that he thought the $1000+ estimates I got from the other two body shops was a little high and that they can likely do it for less. The Dent Station came in at $620.00. If the dealership can do it for about the same price as The Dent Station then I will take it there instead. Mainly because they have a lot more experience working on GM trucks and paint. I just feel better letting them do it. I have another appointment to let another dent guy look at the truck on Monday. If he says he can't fix it then I will just have to suck it up and pay out for the body work.
  20. Well, I took the truck to another couple shops today. The Dent Station told me that she hit the pole in such a spot that they will not be able to get their tools behind it to fix the dent. So, now the only viable option is to get the dent popped out as much as possible and us bondo to smooth it out. That means the paint will need sanded off and a new coat of paint applied to the entire left side of the truck bed. The Dent Station gave me an estimate at $620.00 with taxes. I'm not too happy right now.
  21. I have been trying to find a dent repair place all morning. I called one guy and he said he can't get to it until Tuesday. That is fine, but I am not sure if I will even be in town on Tuesday. I called another guy and he won't even return my call. Anyone know any good paintless dent repair places in the Knoxville area?
  22. It will definitely be in the car. That would be my luck. Me using her wrecking the truck as an excuse to go out with the guys and her wrecking the truck again because she had to pick me up from the bar at 3 a.m. That would suck
  23. That is ultimately what I had to convince myself. The damage is done, so there is no point in dwelling on it. Stuff happens.
  24. Oh, I definitely plan on playing that card. I may even go out with the guys and get stumbling drunk at the bar for a night and make her come pick me up. The gears are already turning.....
  25. I just bought a fully loaded GMC Sierra Crew Cab a couple months ago. I LOVE my new truck. Today, while I was working the wife called me and her first words were "I have to tell you something and please don't get mad at me". My stomach sunk and I my first words were "Don't tell me you wrecked the truck.". She turned too sharp and smacked a yellow pole at the Sonic Drive-In. I was fuming mad, so I just told her that I would call her back. Truth was that I had to get all the cussing and frustration out before I could call her back in a calm manner and say that things happen and that we"ll just have to get it fixed. She told me that it was "just a baseball sized dent". So, I felt better after that. Once I got home and pulled into the driveway I seen the damage. I honestly felt like throwing up. The driver side of the truck bed is dented in three or four places and there was yellow paint covering about a 3 foot area in front of the fender well and above it as well. Once again, I had to calm myself. I just grabbed the keys and went straight to a couple body shops and once again reassured the wife that I "wasn't mad" (I was still fuming). I felt bad for her at the same time though because she knows how much I like my truck and was really upset at herself for wrecking it. The first body shop gave me an estimate at $1,100.00. The other body shop estimated the damage at $1,000.00. I looked at the paperwork they gave me and noticed that most of the cost is labor. I also did not want to claim it on the insurance because I simply do not want another claim on my record. I then started brain storming on some DIY methods I could use to at least remove all the yellow paint transfer on the side of the truck. I consulted Google and YouTube (the all knowing) and found an unorthodox method of removing paint transfer from a vehicle. The solution? Non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. I bought some at Advanced Auto Parts, along with a few white towels (don't use colored ones because it could possibly transfer the dye onto your vehicle). I sprayed the brake parts cleaner on the white towel and wiped it across the yellow paint. It took it right off!!! No pressure or anything! The white paint on the truck looks like new again. Now, all that is left is the dents. I plan on calling a dent specialist tomorrow to see how much it will cost to pop them out. The dents are not creased, so they should be able to pop them out for a couple hundred dollars without hurting the paint job on the truck. I just thought I would share this little part of my day.
