  1. Indeed. No one can argue with that. Guilty as charged. Had to buy a box of those for the wife the other day. This was the hardest one. I eventually learned how to clog my nose just by changing the way I breathe. It's a real talent. The little one is almost 3 now, so she just runs around in her birthday suit all the time and has learned to use the potty. So the diaper changing has almost come to a close. I don't miss it.
  2. We moved to the Knoxville area from Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the beginning of June 2011 and we love it here. The people here are so nice. It is not unusual to go out and end up in a 30 minute conversation with a complete stranger. That NEVER happened back in Missouri. You can say "hi" or something like that, but if you go any further people will think you're nuts. I don't think we'll ever leave Tennessee and go back to Missouri. Heck, I am already too used to having no state income or personal property taxes. That alone is reason to stay. I have also really gotten back to my conservative roots since I have moved here. It is refreshing to live in a place that is so anchored by morals, patriotism, and old Southern traditions. I love that. It is something that is becoming rare in other parts of the country. We moved here because I took a great job opportunity. The job economy was not good back home. Also, the area is starting to get fairly thick with thugs filtering in from St. Louis and Memphis (no offense meant to the folks from Memphis). You can't beat East Tennessee. I am still awestruck by the Smoky Mountain view I see from my front porch every morning.
  3. I have owned both the Glock 19 and the XDM and have held a few SR9C's. I like the XDM the most. The ergonomics are great in my opinion. Also, I have been much more accurate with the XDM. As far as the XDM's go, it depends on the one you are looking at. There are now two different versions. The regular 4.5" XDM is a full sized hand gun. It is heavier and bulkier than the Glock 19. The XDM 3.8" compact is about the same size as the Glock 19. I have owned both the 4.5" and the 3.8" XDM and I like the 3.8" compact the most. Now, if you are looking for a great carry weapon I suggest you at least consider the new Springfield XDs. It's even smaller and lighter than the compact XDM's. I never carry my compact XDM because it is too bulky for me. I sold my LCR recently and bought the new XDs. It's definitely the best carry gun out there in my opinion. I have to admit I am a Springfield guy. So, my opinion my be a little biased. I'd take a Springfield over a block any day of the week
  4. He's been using the alias "Mike Hunt" and the email 115fmj@gmail.com when emailing me. This guy emailed me a couple days ago. Saying all the same garbage he said to others. I responded by telling him to go (you know what) himself. He then sent another email and I responded by just telling him he was an idiot. He sent another email today, but I just ignored it. That seems to be the best remedy for this. I removed my phone number from Armslist as soon as I got the first email from him, so he couldn't call me or get any personal information. If this guy called you and talked about your kids, etc I would definitely be contacting law enforcement. That duck wouldn't hunt with me. I am fine with someone talking a little trash because I can just ignore it, but when they even begin to mention my family I will be on them like stink on sh*t.
  5. I have been hunting everywhere for one of them. I just found out from an online retailer (RedDotScopes.com) that the government just put in a huge order for them and it will take until the end of September for EOTech to fill it. Looks like I'm going to have to wait another month and a half. I just figured I'd post it here in case anyone else is looking for one. The government seems to be buying a lot of hardware lately.
  6. Interesting little story. Sounds like the guy should have just stayed out of Canada. I won't go to Canada due to their gun laws and liberalism, but I won't cry about it either. Their country, their laws. http://news.yahoo.co...-225750666.html This is a news story, so feel free to move it to the "Newsworthy Topics" section. I just felt it belonged here due to it being a "handgun carry" related story.
  7. I went to the one in Tazewell and it seemed like a small store to me. Is there another part of the store I was missing? I don't doubt you on the prices though. They are definitely competitive, and the ladies there are really nice gals too. I heard the store in Kentucky was pretty good though. I haven't made the drive there yet. On another note, I went to Benton Shooters in Benton, TN last week. It's by far one of the nicest (and largest) gun stores in East Tennessee. The entire backside of the store is completely lined with long guns. I think I seen three walls full of them. Lots of AR's, shotguns, .22's, and everything else you can fathom. They also have another side of the store with lots and lots of handguns. The selection is HUGE. They also have a big selection of AR accessories, along with hunting accessories. And lots of ammo too. I only checked the gun prices on a couple weapons. They seemed to be in line with other gun stores. I was there just to grab a couple accessories. The person behind the counter was extremely helpful. They also had a dressed up Rock River AR that really caught my eye. I had to get out of there before I decided I had to have it The Walmart in Alcoa, TN has had AR's for a good while now. The last time I checked they were Bushmaster's. I will check again the next time I visit. It's been a while since the last time I shopped there.
  8. Well, I probably would have caught up to him if it weren't for my neighbors kids down the road playing in the street. I had to slow down to about 10 mph while going through there. I was mad, but I wasn't about to run over a kid. By the time I reached the county road he was gone. I still tried to catch him anyway though. But it was still too late. I think when he seen my wife banging on our front door to get me out there he realized he was about to bite off more than he could chew. He was already out of view before I even opened the front door. He definitely got out of there in a hurry. Honestly, I am kind of glad that I didn't catch him. I was so angry that I likely would have pulled him out through his window and beat the hell out of him. Someone who does something like that to a woman needs his face re-aligned and a couple scars to remind him of why he needs to show some damn respect. I am still glad I am not sitting in jail with assault charges. That would definitely outweigh the satisfaction I would have gotten from beating his ass. I do hope I see the guy out and about though. Because I am going to get a LEO there and watch them dish out some legal punishment instead.
  9. Well, I know Ryan wants to drastically cut spending. And I believe that is something that needs to be done soon. So, with that said Romney now has my full support.
  10. I was doing some volunteer work with the military at a weekend air show once. While on break my friend and I were climbing around inside a B-25 Bomber and the pilot happened to come on board. He told us we had to get off because they were about to do a fly-by for the spectators. I looked him in the eye and said, "why don't you just let us go with you"? He said he couldn't do that. I then said that we were both in the military and explained that he would't have any liability if the plane crashed (we'd all likely die anyway). He reluctantly agreed to let us stay on board. It was a great experience. We flew along side another B-25 Bomber for several miles doing fly-by's over the crowd at the airport. We then headed north and I crawled up into one of the gun turrets. I quickly noticed that we were fixing to fly directly over my sisters house. I pulled the cell phone out of my pocket and told her to get herself and the kids outside now! It was extremely loud inside the plane. She asked what the hell all that noise was and I said to look up at the two WWII planes flying overhead and told her I was inside one of them. I could see her and the kids outside. That was one heck of a good experience. I'll never forget it. I also flew in a C-45 Warbird once when I was about 13. I got to fly in the cockpit along side the pilot. The best part was that he let me take the stick for a bit. That was cool. I definitely bragged about that one. Not many people can say they "flew" a WWII aircraft.
  11. There are services put in place by the military that will help him for free. He just needs to go to the right person, ask around. Bradley-Morris has a professional resume writing service that helped me for free. I did not realize how bad my resume looked until they got a hold of it and helped me rewrite it. They also are the ones who got my foot in the door at my current employer. The only catch is that you have to have a 4 year college degree. If any of you know a veteran in need of a career and has a Bachelor's degree or above, direct them to Bradley-Morris. I can't say enough about those folks, they're great.
  12. I won the Powerball a couple times. Too bad it was just a couple bucks though. I remember one time I picked all my own Powerball numbers on five tickets. I got 5 out of 6 numbers right, but they were spread evenly across the 5 tickets
  13. We used to do this sort of stuff all the time. Huge convoys full of training equipment and such. I remember one time when we were getting ready to out of Atlanta, GA after stopping for a while. Some woman stopped me and asked if we were driving to Iraq. I laughed and politely said "no". I really wanted to say "yeah, just as soon as we stop at the harbor and get some sails mounted on our trucks". Here's your sign.
  14. Yup, definitely a set-up of some sort. These dirt bags will stop at nothing.
  15. I put it on my Facebook page a few days ago. However, I still would't fire a warning shot regardless. I wouldn't want to put any extra holes in my wall.
  16. He was there to represent the United States, not Mexico. I don't care what his heritage is, the Olympics is a friendly competition between athletes that represent their country. If he wants to represent Mexico then he should move back to that country, renounce his American citizenship and be on their Olympic team.
  17. Yeah, they are good folks. They will go out of their way to help. If I see the dude I will just get the plate number and keep him in view until an LEO gets there.
  18. Where? Which river and what area? We have lots of them here. The wife said he looked to be about 18-19 years old, Caucasian, with blonde hair. He is approximately 5'9" in height, with an average build. He was clean cut, with no facial hair, and wearing a white T-Shirt. The van was a mid to late 1990's Chevy or GMC passenger van (one of those boxy ones), white in color. The front bumper is white (body colored). The front license plate area had no bracket or anything, just the inset area for a plate. She said the van was very clean for an older van. If anyone see's a van and driver matching this description in the Maryville, TN area please let me know (and get a plate number).
  19. We definitely had the conversation. It is also the first thing the police told her. DO NOT GO HOME IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING YOU. They'll know where you live. He was likely just some young punk being a dirt bag. It really freaked my wife out. She said he just had "this look" about him that made her really uncomfortable. She said he just had a blank evil stare. I have seen people like that and they are the ones you need to sometimes watch out for. I am not scared of these type of people, but the fact he followed my wife home makes me uneasy. I am going to stay home from work tomorrow. If this a$$wipe comes back he'll do it tomorrow when the man of the house is supposed to be at work. Then at least the weekend might serve as a good cool down period for the prick, so this can hopefully just blow over and become a lesson learned for the wife. Jonnin, I thought about the shotgun thing, but I still don't want a loaded gun around the little one. I will likely just get a small key pad operated lock box for the hand gun and keep it in a drawer. I have already been shopping for one.
  20. I would have never pulled a gun or anything. I know better (even when I'm angry). I just would have said a few words and got his plate number (which is what the wife should have done). The Sheriff said that it is odd that he followed her all the way home. They get these calls all the time, but a road rager following someone home is rare. She told the Sheriff that I had a carry permit and he said that the guy was likely just young and dumb. An older man would have enough sense not to follow someone home (not sure if that's true). We're going to watch for him out in town. He is a local person, so we'll see him again eventually.
  21. That is the first thing I told her. I told her that she could have led him straight to a Sheriff's Deputy. The police told her the same thing.
  22. My wife was on her way home from Walmart in Maryville tonight and she was followed by some younger fellow in a 1990's white Chevy or GMC van. He repeatedly got within a foot of her bumper and even got into a pit maneuver position a couple times. I live out in the country, which is about 10 miles from Walmart. This guy followed my wife 10 miles all the way to our driveway. Then when she pulled in and got out he proceeded to cussing her out because she supposedly cut him off at a four-way stop. When she told him to get off our property he told her he was in the street and that he didn't have to leave. When she went to the front door and started banging on it to get me out there he got in and his vehicle and yelled some sort of threat and then took off. By the time I got to the door I only heard his van leaving and never seen it. He left in a hurry. I got in the car and tried to chase him down, but I could't find him. The punk was already gone. My phone was on vibrate, so I didn't hear the wife trying to call me when this idiot was following her. I really wish I would have gotten the opportunity to scare the tar out of that punk. She said he was younger, maybe even under 18 years of age. We have a two year old. What if my kid would have been in that car and he would have caused my wife to wreck? The wife called the Sheriff and filed a report. That way if he does come back our bases are covered. This stuff makes my blood boil. What concerns me is the fact that if he had the balls to follow her home he may have the balls to come back when I'm not there. I am putting a gun in an easy to access (but safe) place for the wife in case she needs it when I am at work. If he does come back (which is unlikely) she will have easy access to something for self defense. We normally keep all the guns in the safe because we have a two year old. But, that does no good if a criminal breaks in and you're on the other side of the house. I am going to shop for a small gun box this weekend that has a key pad. That way we can keep a gun near the center of the home.
  23. Don't get me wrong, I like me some Conservative radio. But I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh. I don't like the guy. And he's from my home town.
