  1. I have been spreading the word around work (about 300 employees) and just yesterday someone asked me if I heard there was going to be a gun show at the old Wilton building....so apparently the news is in circulation.
  2. Another thing about Ohio: I traveled there quite a bit over the last couple of years and in my research it stated that with a permit your weapon had to be in a holster on your person or in a locked box within the vehicle. Now here in TN a lot of times I have one IWB, but also have one in my console or tucked between the seat. Apparently this would be illegal in Ohio. The reasoning of this confused me a bit, but after some thought and discussion, it just seems to me that having it on your person means that it is in your immediate control versus in a console (where it could possibly be accessed by other passengers). So from what I can tell people getting their permit in Ohio should be aware of this, but seems like something that out of state people might overlook without a bit of research.
  3. I am going to this and bringing a friend. Noticed the poll is closed now so can't vote; maybe there will be enough BBQ:)
  4. I just got back to Winchester from Knoxville. I haven't had season tickets for a few years now; just pick up tickets every now and again. I think I picked the right game to go to this season. 103k happy people at that game...well 103k minus a few GA fans:)
  5. Don't see that. Are you sure you don't have "ad-ware"?
  6. Welcome to TGO. I really like NH, but can see how the snow could get old eventually. Fishing is pretty good down here too and you don't have to drill a hole in the ice.
  7. Welcome to TGO from Franklin County.
  8. Welcome from Franklin County.
  9. I had looked outside just before the law had taken effect; and about a week after the law had gone into effect and had seen no signs. Did they post this after this? Anyway:) No signs now at least
  10. Welcome to TGO from Franklin County. Glad you found us...always good to have some locals around.
  11. Great finds there Coop. Jeff was talking about how sweet that DW is at the G and L shoot.
  12. They actually have updated the HCP exception. I was pretty impressed by how quickly they did so. It was just a few weeks after the law went into effect. From the same web page listed above: Exception 4: While State Parks' rules and regulations prohibit firearm possession and use, Public Chapter 428 of 2009 created an exception in state firearms law that allows individuals with a valid "carry permit" under TCA § 39-17-1351 to carry a handgun within the boundaries of all state parks. While this new law makes an exception for possession, it does not make exception to the use of a firearm. Discharging a weapon in non-designated areas of our parks is still an offense. If a permit holder fires a weapon in self-defense, the holder bears the burden of proof to avoid potential charges under "prohibited firearm use." Notice the NO PLINKING clause to make sure we don't get out of hand:)
  13. Yeah next time you can take it for a spin, too. I didn't know you had a new DW until Jeff told me (was after you left). Maybe we can get together in between G and L shoots at On Target or something....I gotta run a few more this FNP before I trust it completely, but so far so good.
  14. Did you pick one up? I just got back from the Guns and Leather TGO Shoot and got a chance to try out a few rounds. Was quite accurate; the lack of perceived recoil is really what surprised me. Somehow I ended up at the range with only one magazine for the gun. The pistol worked flawlessly shooting, but I think the mag that I was using needed a bit of attention. When loading it seemed the spring was binding up or the follower was hanging up somewhat....maybe this magazine had never been used yet and was just stiff? I guess I will take the mags apart, put a bit of oil on them and see if that cures it.....like I said though it was only one magazine out of 3....but I didn't have the others to check them out...back to the range again I guess.
  15. Good to see you guys once again; and thanks for having us Daniel.
  16. Sounds like a good plan, but I would go by the "best by" dates already on the packs, because sometimes when I pick them up online or on clearance at an outfitter they might already be a year or two from the best by date. Also online you can go to the mountain house website and sometimes they run specials and also have the 7day food packs, etc. For a long term situation though the big cans of their food would be better. I would love to have about 50 big cans of their beef stroganoff...never get tired of that stuff.
  17. I don't carry a revolver; I would be fine there;)
  18. Finally voted:) See you guys in a bit. Might be a bit late again.
  19. Never heard of that Mark. I wonder how that works or why? I am going to have to look into that. As far as dates on freeze dried things; this weekend I ate a pack of Mountain House Turkey Tetrazzini with a "best if used by date" of Jan 2005 and was fine. I think they have a 7 year expiration? So guess it was made back in 1998.
  20. Yes welcome to TGO. Thanks for being an ambassador of gun owners and helping someone out. I think that we need more of this and it would allow more people to be comfortable entering into the realm of gun ownership...and more people equals more support for us at a grassroots level. On a side note, too bad you only had Glock flavored .
  21. Definitely interested. I have backpacked quite a bit in Middle and East TN, and Western NC. If you get a group or a trip together definitely keep me posted. If you are going anywhere in these areas, I also might have some info for you as far as trails/water sources etc.
  22. The folks at Guns and Leather were nice enough to arrange/allow an after hours get-together for the TGO crowd last month. The turnout was pretty good; and I think everyone had a great time. So this event would be the 2nd monthly get-together in that tradition. Metalhead would be the contact there (Guns and Leather )to direct any questions.
  23. I haven't committed to the poll yet, but I am going to try to make it to this one, too. Last one I had a lot of fun, met a lot of good people; most for the first time, a few for the 2nd time, and learned quite a bit from some folks while there...and got the chance to try out the MP5. If anyone is on the fence I would highly recommend showing up; great people and great atmosphere.
  24. Thanks for sharing the report. Good to know that we have another HCP around town.
  25. Congratulation Coop. Didn't realize you were waiting on your permit. You coming to the next G and L shoot?
