I moved here after Katrina. I lived on the North Shore across the lake from New Orleans. Mayor Nagin along with the governor were absolute embarrassments and clear examples of what happens when states and cities become entrenched with liberal-democrat politicians. I moved here in 2006 and couldn't be happier. Funny Story: Several of us men decided to set up armed surveillance teams to patrol our neighborhood. Ours was a small neighborhood with one way in and one way out. We worked on shifts and patrolled 24-7. One day I was approached by a National Guard Captain who told me that they would not patrol our neighborhood if we continued to walk around armed. Hell, the Guard only came by every 3 or 4 days--otherwise we never saw them in our neighborhood. I politely told him to pack up and pull out. We had everything under control and sure didn't need him.
