  1. Meh, pay no attention to that. That sounds like an Arfcom thing. In fact, if this ND thread was on Arfcom it would already be ten pages of people telling the OP he has no business owning or operating a firearm ever again. Can't fault a guy for asking honest questions or owning up to an honest mistake. That's how folks learn stuff. They don't learn by keeping questions to themselves or by not acknowledging mistakes made along the way. I've seen quite a few NDs in my day. It's a learning experience every time.
  2. Baaahhhhh, you know what I meant!
  3. I didn't know there was a wrong way unless you're pointing it at someone.
  4. Way ahead of you on this one. When hiking or camping I take my AK pistol and keep it loaded in my backpack. Totally legal, but if it was an SBR it's a crime.
  5. Same way I was able to tell who the enemy was in Iraq: the guy shooting at me. That scenario you described is so far from realism it shouldn't be a consideration. Think about it, it is legal to OC a pistol if you have a permit, but where are the throngs of people OCing everywhere? Do you really think that changing the law to allow long gun carry would result is everyone carrying around a rifle? Of course it wouldn't. Besides, if it was legal, I can bet you that most businesses would not allow someone to carry and AK around their store. Keep in mind that it is already legal to carry a long gun around, just not loaded. How often do you see that? No, it should not be illegal. The law does nothing to prevent or stop a criminal bent on doing harm, since I'm pretty sure it's already against the law to shoot people. I don't see how making carrying a rifle a misdemeanor would deter a person intent on committing a capital crime. So then what purpose does the law serve on carrying a rifle? Glad you asked; it serves only the purpose of restricting the actions of otherwise law abiding and moral people. It's a stupid law. Of course, that doesn't mean I support idiots walking around Walmart with body armor, helmet and AR-15 with a combat load. I just don't think it should be against the law.
  6. Are there feed ramps on the lower? How does it match up on the barrel extension? Have you googled your issue specific to Spikes uppers of that make? I'm sure if it's systemic there will be an Internet trail as to the problem and solution.
  7. I'm willing to believe that statistic at face value, but then again, I don't skydive my way to work. Not anymore, anyhow.
  8. Probably not, but gave an awakening to their subconscious. I'm sure they think of these teens as poor, misunderstood youths who are actually a victim of the system that keeps young blacks uneducated and addicted to crack so that the white man can get rich on their backs. However, I bet they never get out of their car again when there is a pack of feral teens running around, and I bet they keep their doors locked and windows up when they go through that neighborhood, if they go through that neighborhood again. The only thing I love more than idealistic liberals are hypocritical liberals.
  9. Good to hear, I thought you might be left out. If I'd have known about it sooner I'd a just ordered an extra one for you.
  10. Yeah I was poking around on there earlier and saw that, so it's nice to have that option if I decide to go with one of them mini reflexes later on, which I probably will since I'm gonna have to liquidate one of my rifles for an upcoming muscle movement in the reloading department.
  11. I know a guy in the market for a .300 barrel and gas block.
  12. I can't believe there are people out there who aren't aware of the dangers of feral teens in packs. Musta been liberals. They sure got an education out of it.
  13. Lord knows the streets of LA will be safer now that we can keep those Mosins and Garands out of criminal hands.
  14. Sounds like a practice you don't want to add more possibility of human error to, and drinking certainly leaves things open for increased possibility of error. Of course, having a few beers doesn't mean squat, in my opinion. I usually have a beer every day with lunch, sometimes two. If you can't handle a couple of drinks without concern for losing judgement then you probably shouldn't, but if you're like me I don't see the problem. I think folks get too wrapped around the axle when it comes to drinking and doing anything. Some folks believe that the second you have a sip of beer you no longer have control of your faculties. I think this comes from a combination of sources, as folks either project the perception that all people who drink can't control themselves or a person can't control themselves when they drink and therefore feel as if no one else can. I'm a big boy and I know how much I can handle before I am no longer in control. Sometimes I like to get to that level, but I know it before I get there. Otherwise, I know where my level is at, so I also know how not to get there.
  15. I think that someone who is committing a crime is in a different mindset than a person who is being victimized. The criminal initiates the scenario for the purpose of money or sex. Those aren't normally things that people are willing to face certain death over. This is evident in hundreds of videos all over the interwebz where people have pull firearms on their assailants. Yeah, there are flukes, but I think it is all situationally dependent. I'm more comfortable ending a criminal act by pulling a firearm with only the intention to shoot if they do not break contact than just opening up on them. Sadly, my reasoning is the legal headache I'd have to endure and has nothing to do with my willingness to shoot. I have no moral objection to killing a violent criminal. However, my wife is advised, and I think all women should be, to shoot without question when presented a threat. Women inherently don't have the ability to empathize with a violent man to understand just how violent we can be. That isn't a knock on women, it's just the reality of the situation. I've spent my whole life with all that testosterone, and so I have a better understanding how far I can go and what men are capable of. There is a reason over 90% of violent offenders are male. Any time a violent attacker threatens a woman she should respond with lethal force without giving any opportunity for capitulation or escalation of the attacker; just my opinion.
  16. I went ahead and ordered the package deal from SWFA. Doesn't look like I'll be disappointed.
  17. Yeah, I was referring to the mount that comes with this package that crossfire posted versus the PEPR. It does not come with railed tops for the rings. If course, the mount in the deal pretty much comes free with the purchase, since this package costs the same as only the scope from Midway.
  18. Well one has rails on top of the rings for those who may want to put a mini reflex sight on top. I considered the notion, but I don't think I'll really need it.
  19. I don't doubt it, I just didnt care for the crosshair reticle, other wise I probably would have sprung for that one. Good to hear that one works out well for you since it's pretty much the same scope as the one I'm looking at with the exception of a few things.
  20. Mine also extracts energetically. It drew first blood on 6.8.
  21. Well mine has a wrong handed bolt you can put in it, but that wouldn't be as much fun.
  22. Try shooting my bullpup. It hates lefties, just ask Mark.
  23. Wow, that is a great deal with the scope mount. I'm wondering how the quality of this mount matches up to the PEPR.
  24. I'm gonna do some serious shooting around late November using the Hipertouch in a 5.56 and a .22 with a Slidefire. I'll likely post a review after that.
  25. Those are pretty neat for throw levers. I'm kinda fixated on the idea after having one of those 1-4x elcans before I got out of the biz. I really dug the throw lever and wish a company would make one similar that doesn't cost twice my mortgage payment. I looked at the cheaper bushnell scope but it didnt do it for me; the reticle was junk for what I want it for. They look to be priced the same on Midway though. I was able to find the scope I posted above for $20 cheaper on Amazon with free shipping, so I'm walking away with a scope and PEPR mount for $330, which I don't think is a bad deal.
