Is spelling and punctuation a thing of the past?
TMF replied to Westwindmike's topic in General Chat
It's not so much that spelling and punctuation is a thing of the past; more like stupid and lazy is at thing of the future.- 60 replies

Yeah, I figured some folks might get a kick out of it. I saw it on screen junkies the other day. To be honest though, I've only recently watched the full trilogy. I saw the first one when it came out and it didnt do anything for me, so the thought of sitting through another two of them wasn't appealing. I don't get the appeal of them. I gave it a try though.

17year old with record killed in botched robbery
TMF replied to Patton's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep, when you attempt to deal in stolen property you have to interface with criminals. Sometimes those criminals will try to rob you. Stupid points all around. -
Magazines...stored full or empty when on standby?
TMF replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
In five minutes you should have been able to field strip, clean and reassemble it. -
Ha, yeah but they won't be combing the sheets looking for red hairs after seeing what I just saw. The single guys should be checking that site out. I had no idea home delivered mouth hugs were so cheap stateside. Must be the economy.

Learned it the hard way twice... Red headed and southern redneck. Talk about firecrackers.

Schwing!

Well that was a fun side trip. Browsing history deleted. Hot, red headed hooker logged into bank.

But there are those of us who wish to buy our hookers and blow without worrying about being robbed or murdered.

Me too.

There's no gang crime in Clarksville. Just ask the mayor.

This "mother" needs to be ground up into fertilizer. The Good Samaritan needs a medal. There are times to get involved and there are times to keep your distance. He got it right.

Good, good and good.

Injuring/killing someone while driving drunk is premeditated. The risks are well known and therefore the intention of the driver is to cause injury/death to others as soon as he gets behind the wheel. Adults should face the death penalty for killing folks while driving drunk. A 16 year old might not be an adult, but they sure as hell ain't a child. He should be serving 20+ plus years. F**k his second chance. The 4 dead innocents don't get a second chance.

Who cares about his rehabilitation? He killed four people in a premeditated attack. He should be doing life in prison. The lack of punishment will only embolden this POS to do this again since there aren't consequences to his actions. That is evident by the crap he pulled prior to killing four human beings and wasnt punished for. This judge was clearly paid off. There is no other excuse for why he got away with this punishment free.

Ya, I'm not too worried about over juicing the reticle with the extra voltage since it isn't good enough to use as a red dot anyways so I'm not really losing anything by doing it. Hopefully it works and I can use it for what it was originally intended. If not it will be used for taking deer next year.
-
I'll try out Dolomite's trick to see if bumping the voltage works or fries the reticle sometime in the next few days if you wanted to wait and find out.

Yes it's one 2032 battery.

I got it under the same deal so I don't feel as if I got a lemon or anything. It is pretty decent for the price. I like using a red dot for reflexive firing and figured this on 1x could fill that role. I'm sure on an overcast day it would be just fine for quick acquisition but just doesn't cut the mustard for running and gunning. It is a fine reticle though, and anything being shot at distance using magnification this scope is just as good or better than many similar ones with a higher price tag.

Thanks for reminding me, I just got back from my trip and put a few mags down after zeroing this thing. To be honest, the illuminated reticle left a lot to be desired. When I first got it I figured it was bright enough on 1x to use as a red dot, but getting on the range in Florida against white targets in the bright outdoors it wasn't nearly bright enough. Not an issue on 4x since you had to aim anyway. I took a mags worth of 200m shots and it was great for that. I think that if the reticle could be twice as bright it would be worth it. I won't be using this for 3-gun like I wanted to.

I didn't know PBR was hipster until I recently did some work up at IU and the college kids were drinking it. I'm like, this is what I learned to drink from grandpa.

The peace of mind I have with our security system is worth every penny. I travel a lot and leave my wife with our two kids, so we have multiple layers of security and deterrence. Simply having a firearm in your home isn't enough. The idea would be to prevent them from ever entering. So the passive measures of deterrence, for example, would be the motion lights, security sign in the front yard and the loud barking dog. Motion lights aren't there to alert me of anything, they're there to scare bad guys from attempting to gain entry to poorly lit areas which are not easily seen from the road or neighbors' houses. If someone attempting to gain entry ignores these three things and proceeds anyway, the ante is upped and the next layer of security is enabled. This would be the alarm screaming a 135 db. That is a pretty good deterrent for several reasons. They now know that the house is alerted to their presence and now they have lost some degree of situational awareness since they can't hear movement. Also, now they know the police are on the way. We had a false alarm once and the PD made it out in less than ten minutes. Next they have to deal with the attack dog which is looking for someone to eat. Since we have kids, our plan is to consolidate in their room and wait for police, so movement on my end is required. If, after all that nonsense they are dumb enough to still want to tussle they would have to deal with getting shot, but the mindset of a criminal is not as such. They want a quick and easy score. Why risk death or jail time when you could just retreat and go after a softer target? Thing is, most criminals will case their victims. Get an alarm; put up motion lights; put a dog in your yard, or at least a 'beware of dog' sign. It's better to prevent it ever from happening than worry about having to shoot someone in your home.

I think her credibility went when she started having a relationship with Zman.
