Note To Self, Roadrage, Motorcycles, and Following someone Home, is a No No
TMF replied to runco's topic in General Chat
Well I'm making an assumption here that there was more to the story. It doesn't make sense that this lunatic just decided to attack some motorcyclists with his SUV. I mean, I guess it's possible, but not probable. There is more to it I think. Following the guy like they did suggests to me something, especially since they were close enough to his house to be hit multiple times with a firearm that is accurate for only 15 ft. Like mike said, if all they wanted was to see where he lived they coulda done that from a safe distance. Instead they got close and hung around long enough for the guy to get out of his car, go inside and retrieve two pistols. There's more there, trust me. -

I hear ya. Just today I was out and tried to pass someone going 5 mph below the speed limit. They kept speeding up to prevent my pass and then would slow down once I was behind them again. It certainly gave me fantasies of pitting them, yanking them out of the car and giving them some free roadside dental work. But aholes just want to make the rest of the world as miserable as them. When you give in to their behavior you end up suffering the consequences. In this case we'll probably never know who started it but we sure know who ended it. Whoever was the initially aggrieved party should have let it go. Now this guy will likely have a felony record and be financially ruined, and the other guy got an unwanted lead injection. If one of the two sides would have acted like a grown up then it would have been nothing more than a rant on the Internet about how crappy drivers are. -
Magazines...stored full or empty when on standby?

I dunno, my collection of mags was worth quite a bit this time last year! -

Oh I'm sure this won't turn out to be justified, but the actions of the other party are going to be a key factor on what this gets pleaded down. That and they still have a buncha holes in their back. Two hotheads. One happened to be armed. People need to chill out. -
Ya, I think this is not serious.

Haven't seen anything about charges, just that he was being questioned. I'm sure charges are coming but I have a feeling they won't make it to court or it will be plead down considerably. This sounds like a case of hotheaded morons on both sides. It doesn't make sense that this guy just started a fight with random strangers. -

I have no problem with a dress code at a restaurant. There is a reason for it and I respect the right for a business to have such a policy. However, when a man says he is going through chemo you don't f'ng ask for a doctor's note to justify your beanie cap. The manager that told the server to tell him that should be fired and subsequently rot in hell. -
You need to understand, most schools don't have a "front door". My high school was all open air. You can walk on from anywhere. You can't secure that unless you put up walls with triple strand concertina wire and limited access points with armed guards. It won't happen. Yes, kids should be safe in school, but there is no way to guarantee that. You don't have to send your kids there. You can homeschool or send them to private school.

Probably, but I'm interested in who called 911 and when. I mean, it sounds unlikely that this guy spontaneously decided to start messing with bikers. There has to be more there. For all we know he accidentally cut off one of the bikers (it happens) and they started acting in a threatening manner towards him and he couldn't get away.... it's kinda hard to shake a bunch of motorcycles in a SUV, as is evident by that incident in New York. Then to have those motorcycles follow you all the way home? A jury is gonna have to be convinced that he wasn't in fear for his life from someone who had not only acted in a threatening manner but followed him back to his house. Or this guy just decided that he would start messing with bikers that day, I dunno. I'm guessing there is a lot more to the story. -

Morton's could be forgiven when they fire that stupid f'ng manger. -
Yeah, but I can walk into a mall or a movie theater and achieve the same thing. Bottom line, the world isn't safe. The answer isn't to live on constant lockdown. There are plenty of measures that can be taken to give us reasonable security, but nothing can be mitigated down to zero. So long as there are evil people there will be evil deeds.

I'll add that one still has to look at themselves in the mirror after making the choices they made. If that man had let her go and those kids or another innocent was killed he would carry the guilt. I'd rather risk getting sued than risk spending the rest of my life knowing that two little babies were killed due to my laziness or indifference. I don't know what I would have done in this situation. I'd like to think that I'd do the same thing but I don't know.

Most schools are open air. Anyone can walk on to one. You'd have to retrofit every school in the country like a prison to get that kind of security. That ain't gonna happen.

Mmm... tastes like freedom and comp-B.

How insulting to the hundreds of Muslims that Apache has killed.

Because there needs to be evidence that his actions were criminal. I don't think a cop on the ground is going to be able to make that call.

There's more going on here suggesting use of alcohol than simply being awake and handling a firearm. Perhaps he was the sober one of the group? I don't know. I'm just going with law of averages and life experience. Kinda silly to try and compare that to gun owners being terrorists... I mean, consider the numbers. 100 million Americans, give or take, have firearms and only a dozen or so commit acts of terrorism with said firearms each year. Now consider college aged males at a party on Saturday night around midnight; do you really think that only 0.000012% of college aged males are drinking at a Saturday night party? Fitting a profile doesn't make anyone guilty of anything, it just means they fit the profile. Like I said, he may have been stone cold sober, but odds are he wasn't. Police are investigating. It isn't illegal to handle a firearm in your own home simply because you have been drinking, so I assume that if he was drinking they wouldn't have arrested him based on his account of merely handling a weapon. That's why they have DA's and grand juries.

No, profiling is pretty excusable. It usually works. Sorry that offends you. There is more suggesting alcohol use other than being awake in the middle of the night. Add to that a dead body that isn't supposed to be dead. ETA: the apartment was shared by two young people (19/24)who were having a party on Saturday night. The shooting occurred around 0100 while the negligent party was showing off his new pistol. If anyone with half a brain or a few years of life experience were to bet on whether there was alcohol involved the bet would be that there was. Take a random poll of young people 18-24 at 1am at a party and tell me how many sober versus drunk kids there are there. I was 18-24 once so I already know the answer. Like I said, profiling works and it exists for a reason. Sorry that it twists your panties.

Experience. Don't get so worked up. I could be wrong, I just probably ain't.

I was going to say the same thing after I realized I fell into the trap on my earlier post. Gonna leave it that way for irony's sake. -
This happened in the middle of the night. Nothing responsible happens with guns in the middle of the night. Alcohol was a factor.
