  1. Yeah, but they're having the baby seal clubbing float again this year, right? That's the only reason I watch. Nothin' more manly than a parade. Wish them damn gays wouldn't queer it all up.
  2. Made a delicious and rare rib roast. The remaining leftovers were turned into fajitas last night.
  3. Wonderful. I can finally sleep at night again and America can start healing.
  4. I would have not won the non-confrontational award. This guy is gonna try this on the wrong guy and end up bloody.
  5. Hate crime? Shoulda been charged with attempted murder, chopped up in to mulch and used to fertilize the grass in front of the prison.
  6. This is what my wife said this evening.
  7. Been without power for 45 mins so far. Took the family into the basement for this one. It was pretty fierce here.
  8. Probably, but there are a lot of voices in those decisions when they're made. It's a crappy position to be in. On one hand, I'd highly respect Cracker Barrel if they said they ain't pulling anything regardless of pressure. On the other hand I respect their decision to pull items of a brand involved in controversy. I don't so much interpret them pulling him from the shelves as a condemnation of his words, but more as a way to distance themselves from the controversy. Right now the headlines are all abuzz with this nonsense. In two weeks it'll be forgotton and he'll likely go back on the shelves. I'm sure they're trying to have their cake and eat it too. They probably have GLAAD is up their behind about it too, along with all the other retailers of their items. I was in Books a Million the day after all this blew up and they had all kinds of tacky Duck Dynasty crap. GLAAD probably hadn't gotten around to them yet. I dunno. What I do know is everybody is too damn sensitive when it comes to gays; folks who are advocates and folks who oppose. I don't get it.
  9. I think, like most companies, they'd wish nothing more than to be as far away from this as possible. However, you have fascist organizations on both sides who like to threaten businesses if they don't respond the way they want, so they have to either cave in or be drug into it. This is all so silly. So many sensitive Sallys who want to kick and scream if they don't get their way.
  10. I like to bash hypocrisy wherever it is, and I think it exists on the extremes of any issue. In fact, I think the concerns of moderates on one side of an issue are often validated by the minority of extremists on the other side, and vice versa. This subject is pretty silly altogether, but all the outrage on social media seems to echo support for both freedom of speech and freedom to be so gay you can't even drive straight. It's the hardliners on both sides that are trying to make this into something it's not.
  11. I do get a kick out of the selective outrage that comes from Americans. Alec Baldwin can spew pure hatred and intolerance of gays on multiple occasions but this guy is asked on his opinion, gives it in a manner that references his religious beliefs without being hateful and everyone loses their minds. It's all okay or none of it's okay. This picking and choosing that people think they can do and still be credible is what confuses me.
  12. He was asked. I agree, it was bait and he shouldn't have taken it. However, he answered honestly.
  13. I was a school teacher!
  14. Well I think there is a big difference between someone saying that homosexual acts are a sin, based upon one's religious beliefs, and saying that gays need to stay in the closet and out of the public eye. I don't like using the "homophobe" word because I do think that was something manufactured by the left in order to shame folks who don't hold their opinion, and that isn't a mature way to debate. I do think there are many people who are intolerant to the point they believe that gays shouldn't be open (I don't mean screaming queen open, I'm talking about just not being in the closet). I think there are many folks who hide behind the Bible because they find homosexuality to be repulsive and threatening to their way of life. That is way different than someone who simply believes something is a sin. We all sin, so believing acts of gayness are a sin isn't being intolerant, it's just being true to your beliefs. Of course, when you start calling folks out on those sins unsolicited it has gone beyond one's beliefs and now opens you up to everything that comes with such a debate. Like with most sins, we don't take every opportunity to call folks out on them.
  15. I think A&E is between a rock and a hard place on this one. At the end of the day they are a business and exist to make money, so the choices they make are rooted in that. I think, however, they should have taken more time to consider those choices. I think this will lose them a whole lotta of money.
  16. My wife and I watched it first season. Looked like it was getting canceled after the recasts and desperate promotions. I guess it is not going away so we'll probably start DVRing it again. It's refreshing to have a show that is opposite the liberal agenda.
  17. Huh? Jeff Gordon isn't gay?
  18. I want to be so tolerant, but my wife and i are on the latest season of Spartacus and I can't get past the man love scenes, yet my wife can't understand why I say "giggity" every time there's a lesbian scene. I think the level of tolerance I show for two chicks making love more than makes up for my revulsion at two dudes. I mean, I'm sooper tolerant of those lesbians.
  19. 8 pages so far. We should start taking bets on how many pages a gay thread will be when it starts. I saw that the duck dynasty guy call homosexuality "illogical" in a GQ interview. Surely that is to spark a new thread that will last about 20 pages. Perhaps we could get the pot into 4 digits?
  20. There are libertarians who think that way? Wouldn't that automatically disqualify them from being libertarian?
  21. This thread is now offensive.
  22. A good option also is to not give into media hype and fear mongering regarding school shootings. My kids are far more likely to be killed by a teenager texting and driving as I take them to the store than be killed in a school shooting, but I don't drive them around in a 1/4 million dollar up armor vehicle with a reinforced roll cage. Or maybe I should? I dunno. Which one makes me the bad parent?
  23. I love lamp!
  24. Perhaps what makes it newsworthy is the stereotype that shooters are men's men.... no that didnt come out right. Umm, that shooters tend to be meat eaters... crap, that didnt sound right either.
