Funny, a couple years after I moved to Tennessee it snowed mid-April. Being from further south I thought that was going to be normal. Thank goodness it wasn't.

HOA says not guns allowed in Nashbor Viliage??????

People just like asserting their control over others. Mostly because they haven't been physically punished for doing so at any point in their life. These are the cowardly types that rise to power. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I didn't intend to be derogatory, and you have no need to justify nor debate it with me. I will say that I'm glad I'm not in your position that makes you feel the need for all the stuff you posted. I hope your situation improves quickly. I would be looking for a way out of whatever predicament you've found yourself in.
Dude, a person isn't nuts or irrational for taking precautions to keep their wife and kids safe. I have a neighbor who has made threats toward my wife and was charged on a related crime. I've had to take active and passive measures to prevent his contact with my family. Some may think those measures are paranoid, but dammit, folks have wives and kids to worry about. The measures I've taken have made us comfortable enough that we haven't up and moved our home, which is something a free American shouldn't have to do. So I get the impression that you're mocking this guy for having so many measures in place. I'm glad that you don't have to deal with that type of nonsense, but the truth is there are crappy people out there whether or not you pine for the days of Mayberry. Being a good neighbor doesn't make crappy neighbors or bums suddenly safe for your wife and kids to be around. That is just naive. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you get an AK it'll fit in your backpack without having to break it in half. I have a small hiking backpack that I carry it in.
Ya know, I got nothing against Yankees that move to the South. As long as they assimilate into the society. What I hate is the first thing out of their mouths is "We didn't do it like that back in (pick a state)". They just need to learn what sweet tea is and you use a hose pipe to water your garden.
Yeah, that's true about anywhere you go. It's like nails on a chalkboard. I'd imagine it would be just as annoying for a Yankee have a southerner move in next door, then complain how much their state sucks. Thing is, we just see it from folks that move in near us. My northerner in laws are moving to my native state and complain non stop about how everyone is so backwards there; makes me want to break the peace. I got a neighbor who moved in years back and did the same thing. We ain't friendly towards each other. People like that just need to go back to the Utopias they came from or shut their effing mouths. It's comparing apples and oranges when you're talking about a housing development/apartment complex versus rural private property.

It was my intention with my AK pistol, but if I do that I can't have it loaded on my person. I go camping often and like have a rifle caliber with me. I can fit my AK in my backpack and ain't breaking any laws. Can't do that with an SBR or rifle. Also makes a good truck gun.

Yeah, I'd be the crazy one here, apparently. I'd be mounting covert AV equipment and IR switches to determine patterns, then hiding out on the bank in a ghillie suit in order to wrap this dude up. Thing is, I'd never mind someone from the neighborhood passing through my property. Back where I'm from, my family lives in a rural area with a wide swath of land which they raise cattle on. Neighbors are about 1/4 mile apart, but it's pretty much open borders between everyone. Folks come right over to use the range and we cut through their property frequently on foot or 4 wheeler. It wouldn't raise anyone's hackles to see a neighborhood kid pass over their fence. Strangers, however, would most certainly be greeted with a well armed welcoming party and strongly discouraged from returning if they made it through the event without being hogtied and handed over to the closest deputy. A grown man knows better than to be trespassing like that, which would raise my suspicion that he's up to no good. But hey, maybe I'm just paranoid. I got a wife and kids though, and it is far more important to keep them safe than worrying about hurting some bum's feelings who uses my property as a pass through. And yeah, the world is a much different place than it used to be, but transient bums have been raping and murdering defensless wives long before there was 24 hour news. Long before anyone here was a twinkle in their great-grandaddy's eye.

I'm not promoting the banning of them or anything like that. I expect this thread will ruffle a few feathers, but I'm hoping someone can enlighten me as to why they are desirable.
I can't legally have a loaded rifle outside my home, but I can have my loaded AK pistol, which doesn't lose much muzzle velocity at 10 inches. My first AR15 was one of them neutered, Brady Bill rifles, since I wasn't willing to pay the extra few hundred bucks for a pre-ban rifle with a bayonet lug. I posted a pic of my new joy and was lambasted by people for not having an adequate rifle capable of mounting a blade to. I disagreed that it mattered. After that I figured it wasn't a place for grown-ups.

I don't get it. Is he simple? No harm if he's simple I guess. The fact he can't pass an ASVAB is an indicator that he may not have the intelligence to understand what he's doing. Otherwise, if he is intelligent enough to understand, he should expect to piss people off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I drive 38 miles each way. JTMWe the People of the United States, in order to form a more Perfect Union......
Well that's the thing, life is a trade off. In bigger cities that commute may be twice that to get somewhere you can afford that meets your needs. Not everyone wants to spend 2 hours or more of their day in a car just so they have the ability to park a Sherman tank on the lawn. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Drawing and sight acquisition. At least once every few weeks when I have 10-15 minutes. I use 3 inch dots at about 7m. Not a lot of slack in a Glock trigger, so I don't bother with trigger pull. Getting your gun out and acquiring sights in a fluid and natural manner will breed faster first rounds on target. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I have never understood why anyone would purchase property in one of these areas to begin with. I thought property rights were property rights. I own this property and if I want to park a Sherman tank in my drive it's my business. JTMWe the People of the United States, in order to form a more Perfect Union......
Depends on where you live. Looking at property outside the city in the burbs in many places around the country, the only nice neighborhoods have HOAs. The ones that don't aren't places where you'd want to raise your kids. My wife and I are going through that now and are having to decide which is more important. Wouldn't life be grand if you could find a place that suited all your needs and allowed you do be close to work? Not everyone has that luxury. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
while I don't disagree with you at all, I have to wonder.....if they agree to it does that change it.Probably doesn't change the legality of it but look at what is happening in other states where they can get enough people to agree with unconstitutional laws.Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
On one hand I'd say anyone stupid enough to agree to those terms deserves to have their rights taken away, but on the other hand, if you want to live in a halfway decent neighborhood in many areas of this country, you're gonna be under an HOA, and if these management companies are controlled at a national level, it makes it like a backdoor way to strip rights away. Very slippery indeed. Kind if a microcosm of US society, where it's your neighbors who want to tell you that you can't have guns, alcohol, religious beliefs and so on. Sounds like they are making these rules retroactively. This is the reason why HOAs are awful. They sound great in theory, but then they end up being another government organization that takes your money and make judgements that suit only their own interests, not the payee. The people that run this HOA company should be hung for their attempts at violating these people. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
