My concern, traveling with all those items to the range, for instance, isn't with the legality of his set up but the ignorance of the law by police officers. OS is completely legal, but if he gets pulled over for a minor infraction which turns into a search, the officer conducting the search may believe he is in violation of the law. Heck, I had a Sheriff's Deputy in Florida come out to the family range for a shoot day several years back, and asked ME if my AR was legal to own. He was under the impression that I had to have it registered (with whom?). So it isn't far fetched to assume OS's setup could get someone in temporary hot water. At a minimum, I'd have several letters from the ATF printed off and colocated with my items to ensure the popo had the tools of knowledge if it came to that.

What Georgia's 'Extreme' New Gun Law Allows
TMF replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Funny how these libs scream so loudly while legislation like this is going through, then you hear nothing but crickets after such pro-gun legislation is passed. Folks are about as likely to be shot by a permit holder as they are to get shot by police, yet no one freaks out when cops stop into a restaurant for lunch. Makes no sense. I rented a hotel room for the "after events" of my senior prom and we each told our parents we were going to a chaperoned after party and sleeping there. Our parents weren't stupid, but ya gotta give them the benefit of plausible deniability. It would be kinda weird to have dad parking us. Don't know if I would be able to- BOOBS!
Okay guys, I just stripped the firing pin, cam pin and bolt out of the carrier and installed only the stripped carrier with gas key installed. The carrier drags really heavily on its way back and then starts sticking after the 1st 1/4" of the carrier starts over the mag follower. It's is sticking long before the gas key is comes into contact with the tube. So that completely rules out anything to do with the bolt, bolt fitment in carrier and gas key. And the carrier is making contact with the mag body (rear of feed lips) not the follower.
Well this is a new one. Couldn't be an explanation other than parts being warped; either the upper or the bolt carrier. I've never heard of a bolt carrier getting warped by normal use though. Sure you didn't use it as a pry bar? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well the later is bad enough. Of course, good to know either way, hopefully it won't matter much longer.
Hopefully. In my home state is was a crime for me to transport my pistol in my car, but I was too young for a permit. Several years ago they changed the law to make it legal. It has helped me to reconcile my past criminal ways. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I dropped a new cam pin in it and it didn't seem to make any difference. I've kept the carbon cleaned out of the carrier bore where the bolt slides in and before I went out and fooled with it last I soaked it and took the scraping tool to it and it is pretty well spotless. I agree that it shouldn't be worn out after so few a numbers of rounds and part of me keeps thinking that i'll find something silly that is the cause. I'm not making it home tonight so it'll be at least tomorrow night before i'm back around it again. As far as one looking like it's been dragged behind a truck this one will disappoint you because it really doesn't look that bad.
Yeah, that's why I can't figure why you're having this issue. Wish I could help. Could probably figure it out if I had it in front of me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Wish I had it in my hands so I could answer my own questions. This is something unique. BCGs don't just "wear out" to where they bind up when chambering a round. That doesn't make any sense. There are plenty of AR rifles that have BCGs with hundreds of thousands of rounds through them that continue to work just fine despite the BCGs looking like they were dragged behind a jeep for a few miles. Something else is going on here. I'm gonna go with inspecting the cam pin and where the bolt goes into the carrier. That's the only logical thing I can think of without having it in my hands. That cam will build up carbon that is tough as steel and so will the inside of the carrier where the bolt inserts. I've had to take that garbage off with a 249 tool before, but never saw it so bad that it prevented the thing from chambering a round. I dunno, scrape that stuff off and see how it goes. Could you post a picture of the cam as well as the inside of the carrier where the bolt is housed? ETA: Did not see that this went on to a second page and Dolo already asked.

URGENT - Permit-less Car Carry in the Senate Tomorrow
TMF replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That's on the individual though. If they don't want a permit then that is their business. I think we can look at other states which have permitless open carry and vehicle carry as examples of systems that work just fine. People still get permits who wish to travel out of state. Honestly, while I support Constitutional carry, I have no problem with keeping a permit system for the purpose of carrying in other states, and I support those other states to have their own laws governing carry. I don't live there so it isn't my business to say otherwise. -
I don't want the law to require it, but if the libs are going to push a law I would rather see that one. But, I have to disagree with you on your point about "everyone" agreeing. I just don't think all people do. That is what scares me about unrestricted open carry. I think defensive training as a whole should have a bigger presence in this community. I would love to see it taught in schools..i.e: you have the right to carry a gun now he is how you use it. They teach us to speak and debate to exercise out freedom of speech. They even teach us the dangers of drunk driving so we can drink responsibly, but guns don't get the positive attention they need. "Most" people would agree with me, but it's the other ones that scare me and ultimately give us a bad name.
I have yet to meet a person who carries a firearm say that folks don't need training. Of course people do. But that is their choice. Much like parents needing to educate themselves on how to be good parents and raise future adults. Every parent needs to, but most don't. That's their decision. That is liberty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I would just hope that if you chose to carry (open or concealed) that you would have the sense to be prepared. Is that anti second amendment?
If you believe that a law should require it, then yes, that is anti-second amendment. If you're just suggesting people should seek training, then I think everyone here would agree with you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I personally do not attend concerts or conventions, have no need to attend a college game, no need whatsover to visit a theme park, and when I do visit a national park, I do not enter the visitors center. I have no small kids, so nope, no teacher meetings.
Ah, now it makes sense. You don't care about anyone else's rights because the current laws don't restrict you since your situation isn't the same as the rest of us. How incredibly self centered. In that case, since it doesn't affect me, I would have no issues with the government deciding to strip all YOUR natural rights away immediately, since it doesn't affect me.
Sad? No, sensible. What is the point of carrying a weapon in the car with you when you are just going to leave it there when you get out of the car? You know the odds of being carjacked? Traffic accident in which someone pulls a gun? Again HUGE odds against that. Or are you going to play superman and stop a mugging that you see? Oh wait, you can't leave the car with the gun. Or hows about when you are standing in line at the 7-11 and the guy that just walked in puts a gun to your head. Is that gun you left in the car going to help you then? Nope, didn't think so. Either get the HCP and carry all the time or don't get it and be don't carry. Bringing the 2A rights into the argument for or against is pointless. If the lawmakers that are in place wanted to act according to the Constitution, we would already have no permit needed carry. Since that ain't gonna happen, go and get a HCP and stop leaving the damn weapon in the car where it is absolutely useless to you unless the big bad man comes to your window demanding the car which has less odds than hitting the lottery or being struck by lightning.
Who cares? It's none of your business when and where a person carries or if they leave a firearm in their car. Certainly none of the government's business that there would be a law restricting such. I have no issue with you having an opinion on someone storing a firearm in their automobile, but when you want to use the force of the LAW to prevent people from making a choice, you are no different than the fascists who seek to control every aspect of our lives; an enemy to the concept of liberty.
