You never see a TSA agent at BNA take your stuff anymore. Down in Tampa they still have you walk to the TSA X-ray and hand it to an agent. It really depends on the airport, not federal or airline policy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is one that I don't bother trying in that you are supposed to be able to carry loaded mags as long as they are in a pouch of sorts that completely encases then such as knife pouch with a Velcro closing flap etc.... Ammo does not need to be in a locked container as long as it is carried according to both TSA and your carriers directions.
I usually have the ammo in a factory box, as that used to be the rule. I don't have enough room in my Kimber case to have all the mags and ammo in there if the ammo isn't loaded. Southwest recently changed their policy so I go with loaded mags now. Also makes it easier when I get to where I'm going. I'm locked and loaded as I'm leaving the airport.
That has to do with chain of custody IIRC. From what I recall, YOU hand your bag off directly to TSA for screening, or it is handed to TSA in front if you by an airline employee. .
Not anymore. At BNA they just have you hang around at the check in counter for 15 minutes while it is xrayed. The X-ray is on a different level now; has been for a while. A long time ago they'd have you take it direct to a TSA guy and you'd have to open it. I'm assuming people like me who rolled in there with a pelican case with a tacticool M4, 1911 and a bunch of mags and ammo were scaring fliers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This info is somewhat INCORRECT ammo can be in the same case as the locked gun and can be in plastic case... I've flown numerous times and carry everything in ONE case.... You can put all of it in one case if you want, the airline has specific policy. When they say in mfg packaging they mean factory carton. It's to keep fliers from transporting loose rounds in crayon boxes in checked bags. Every airline has their rules. Southwest aa and united want ammo separate from firearms. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.
I just flew Southwest the other day. I kept my 4 mags loaded and in the same box as my pistols. It used to be they didn't want it in mags. They don't care anymore so long as the primers on the top round is covered. I just wrap the tops of the mags in thin cardboard. I've always flown with my ammo in the same case as my firearm. I don't believe United or Southwest ever had a policy against that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh, I also put a small chamber flag in each one of my pistols. A long time ago I had a TSA guy make me open my case to inspect that the chamber was empty after it had gone through X-ray. The chamber flag will leave the slide slightly ajar and indicate an empty chamber. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I use the same Kimber box for my pistols when I fly. You'll need to secure both slide openings with locks (not TSA locks). If you only lock one side they'll have a fit because you can slide the other side open and wedge open the container to get to the contents. As for ammo, I'm pretty sure that needs to also be in a locked container. Airlines will differ as to how it needs to be stowed. Some say you can't have it in magazines and others say its fine. I only fly United or Southwest and I check their web page the night before just in case there a recent changes. I also keep that webpage open on my phone when checking in, just in case the person working the counter is new and unfamiliar with all the rules of the airline. Usually they are well versed. People fly with guns a lot. Here is Southwest's page which explains proper securing of weapons and ammo: http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/special-luggage-pol.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@Dave: I don't think airlines are allowed to mark baggage as containing a gun anymore. I'll ask and get back to you on that though as I'm not 100% sure.
Just flew two pistols last week. Can't remember them ever marking my luggage before as containing a firearm, but I do recall the baggage folks at a few different airports holding weapons cases and not putting them on the belt. I'm not sure if that was because they didn't want to put an obvious weapons case on the belt or if it just wouldn't fit right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been using New Balance for the past decade. The ones I have are really good for low arches. I used to use Asics, but would get blisters all the time on the inside of my foot. I work out but get into a habit of not running for weeks at a time. It can be difficult with traveling a lot and also having small kids. It isn't as easy as just strapping shoes on and going. I inherited high blood pressure, so I have to run or do some kind of cardio to keep it in check. Even with regular work outs, my blood pressure will climb if I'm not doing cardio. But I'll carry chambered because I may not have two hands available.
I'll challenge anyone who carries with the chamber empty to get a first round on a 3 inch dot at 7m in less than 4 seconds. Of course it can be done. Most folks cant do it and the reason why is they don't train to do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18.
Remember the 15 foot "rule" in the knife vs gun scenario? How fast can you draw and rack your gun?
I'm curious how fast folks think they can draw, rack and accurately fire their weapon. Considering that under two seconds is fast when you have one in the chamber, four to five seconds is probably how long it would take, and I've never seen a drill practiced where the shooter draws, racks then fires. Four to five seconds is a long time. Probably longer than that if you haven't practiced your technique a few thousand times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think that depends on the store. As I recall from my pet dept days, we had to be on top of removing dead fish. Don't recall it being such a big issue though; we didn't lose many fish compared to the stock that we kept. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the store and how diligent the department manager is.
Heard (read) a story once of some druggie actually trying to cook up some meth in a store...
Some things that people would do at Walmart on a regular basis that pissed me off. 1. Dirty (poopy) diapers disposed of in a shopping cart. 2. Using my department to rip open packages with inventory control tags and stealing the contents, then leaving the packaging in my department drawing the attention of management on me. 3. Removing the dividers in the fish tank which separate the Beta fish while I'm on my lunch break. I come back to pets to find dead or dying/mutilated beta fish because they were all fighting to the death during the last 10-20 minutes. 4. Leaving their half eaten snacks (which were stolen from the grocery side) on the shelves for me to clean up. Big plus when there is a snotty tissue there as well. Love that. 5. Opening merchandise to inspect the contents, then leaving said contents in a pile for me to figure out how to get it back in the box. Many times it was a customer helping themselves to an item within merchandise to replace something which broke in an earlier purchase. 6. Urinating on the floor of my department. Yep. That is a thing. 7. Walmart tag is also a thing, and it's annoying. I have more, but I can promise you that relocating or turning around a gunbuster wouldn't even register on my radar of crap that used to anger me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How many events does it take to become a nuisance?
It wouldn't be a big a deal enough for me to care, especially with all the actual bad things people did in Walmart. Having to restock a shelf or relocate an item every so often wouldn't be a concern. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. I watched it last night after DVRing it. Yeah, he committed murder. Wouldn't call it first or second degree though. A crime of passion in my opinion. Don't care that he did it though. What made me angry was the DA describing what he did as sitting in a tree stand deer hunting. He was in his own house and they broke in. It ain't like he invited them over and shot them as they came through the door. Oh, and screw those two little hoodlums. They deserved to be shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was answering your comment which suggested underbrush near homes was what was destroying them, not what is starting the fires in the first place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
