What would you do? Road Rage incident

Herman Cain has my vote... I don't think America is ready for a white President yet.

Hahaha, I don't think it's crazy at all to think that an AR 15 could entice you to go on a rampage. I mean, if you talk to your rifle is it crazy to think that it won't talk back to you?

Once you've received proper training you can then train yourself based on what you learned. At some point formal training should be the goal of anyone carrying for the purpose of self defense. The price looks worth it; just make sure that the trainers/tactics are legit. Do some research on the instructors if you can. It's always good to have an instructor that has fought against more than paper targets all his life. I've seen some pretty hokey stuff before from so-called experts.

Isolationism: Tell me why it's a bad idea.
TMF replied to gregintenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, all this. Just because we're involved in the world doesn't mean we're not pursuing our interests. If we weren't heavily involved in global politics then we wouldn't be doing many favors for ourself. Adopting "total isolationism" more or less paints us into a corner and limits so many options for us. Not to say that we couldn't do it, but our way of life would certainly change. I think it's as important to have people who feel the way you do as it is to have people who feel the exact opposite! -
I think he's suggesting that just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should support a law taking rights away from someone. We have the right to OC in Tennessee. You may not like it, and that's fine, but too bad; people are going to do it anyway. I don't like hippies opening their mouth and spewing their ignorance, but I support their right to do so.

Well I think what we have here is the argument of "thinking" liberals and "thinking" conservatives. For example, my family is made up of staunch conservatives which follow all traditional conservative ideals. I don't. I don't think it's bizarre that a liberal could be pro-gun anymore than I think it's bizarre that a conservative could be pro-choice. I think the issue is that folks like me don't have much interaction with liberals because there isn't much in common there. The only liberals I see are the ones on the TV that want to take away my money, guns, and so on. My in-laws are so extreme liberal that I avoid any topic which may cause me to expose my opinions because I don't feel like debating/justifying everything I believe in. So if some of the liberals here are offended about some of us having the impression that all liberals are anti-gun try to understand that the only side of liberals we see are the ones who want to take our guns away. Up until the other day I thought pro-gun liberals were rare as a white rhino, but I've seen a few on this thread. More power to you; try to educate your kind about the 2nd Amendment as you can.

Florida still has the best boiled peanuts I've ever had. There seems to be a boiled peanut stand around every corner there. Every time I visit my parents down there I stop at a stand near their place that has Cajun Boiled Peanuts; good stuff. I've tried making it myself but never could get it right.

I'm still passing judgement. The facts of the case are clear. Unless the police misjudged his sobriety (unlikely) and planted a loaded weaponed owned by the suspect (more unlikely) then he clearly broke the law. Even if it gets knocked down or thrown out on a technicality he still broke the law. Just because someone is "innocent until proven guilty" or even found "not guilty" doesn't mean they didn't do it. It just means the law couldn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they did. If you disagree with that then you should have no problem with Casey Anthony babysitting your kids. This guy has given the HCP community a black eye and will be a rallying cry of the people who seek to curtail our rights. What happens in the courtroom doesn't matter in that respect.

TN HCP Holder carries and nothing happened

Sometimes my Glock drinks so I have to carry my 1911 instead. -
Sometimes I wish I would have built a full size A1 instead of a XM177, but I already had a carbine stock so that's the route I took. Recently a buddy of mine offered to sell me a Colt SP1 (original owner was his father; left to him in the will) for only $1100. I'm still kicking myself, but I couldn't come up with the cash without selling one of my current babies.

Is that a YHM flash suppressor set up for a sound suppressor? I'm thinking about going the same route for my M4.

My in-laws are all liberals from up north. My wife's aunt cried when my wife told her I own guns... not kidding, cried. I don't think it's just an "anti-gun" thing; I think it's a total lack of understanding of why we would own firearms.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm sure this is not just another coincidence... clearly this was an opportunity to undermine the Constitution and divert attention from current goverment scandals. It's easier to believe that than believe that there are REALLY awful people who seek to destroy our way of life, just like it's easier to believe that 9/11 was an inside job and not just a bunch of pissed off Muslims, right?

For the price that's a great rifle. I guarantee it'll go bang if you put ammo in it and pull the trigger... it's an AK afterall.

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?

Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA seems to be the new good stuff for me. It's an IPA without all the bitterness of an IPA. -
I've checked this site out for retro lowers; $150 for a stripped. I've met my quota for gun related purchases this year so that's the only thing on the back burner. NoDak Spud Retro Lowers

After see a post with someone elses retro AR build it motivated me to finish up the one I've been sitting on for a while. I was curious to see how many enthusiast of older model ARs are out there and what you have. The inspiration for this build came after a buddy of mine gave me an old stripped A1 upper he didn't want. At the time I was going to get rid of an Olympic Arms I'd had for a while after building a RRA M4. With an A1 upper in hand, I decided to do something fun with it. I was modeling this rifle after an XM177/Model 610; obviously some things aren't correct on it such as the flash suppressor (for legality) and the bayonet lug, but here's what I got into it: 11.5 in barrel 5.5 in "commando" flash suppressor/moderator Single heat shield handguards (6 hole) A1 pistol grip A1 upper (no forward assist) Aluminum stock Let's see what some of you got.

Businesses aren't successful in terms of single sales. They are successful through repeat business and word of mouth. I had a similar experience at Tennessee Gun Country, where they wouldn't do transfers for private sales. I thought this was odd and so I inquired about it. I had my preconceived notions when I asked, but the person at the counter explained to me about some new requirement from the ATF that requires some additional paperwork for doing transfers of private sales. I expected to get a line about how internet sales are the devil and how I have no right to shop around for a deal, but the person I spoke to was very polite and made a good point. I shop at Tennessee Gun Country all the time still. Now, a few years ago I went into Grandpa's to inquire about an FFL transfer and the person there was rude and openly hostile towards me when I asked. As far as I'm concerned that's bad business/customer service/customer relations and I haven't stepped foot in there since.... not even for camping gear.

I've heard of many shops refusing to do a transfer if it is an item they keep in stock. I just did a transfer at Guns and Leather not too long ago and it went great. I had a buddy do a couple before me and he ran into a situation where what he was going to order online was something they had in stock. Guns and Leather gave him a discount to match the online price and he ended up buying the weapon from Guns and Leather. Some of these smaller gun shops seem to get offended at the idea of folks going online to find firearms, but it comes down to money. Why would I pay $600 for something I can find online for $400? I'm all about supporting local businesses, but those businesses also need to realize that the consumer landscape is changing and they need to figure out how to change with it or go out of business. One local business charges over $100 for transfers whether they have the firearm in stock or not. The mere question of doing an FFL transfer incited animosity from an employee there. I will never step foot in that establishment ever again. People wonder why small businesses are being beat out by wholesalers... it isn't just because of the better deal.

Hold out for at least 60 days in order for the chaos of the living dies down. After that, wait for cold weather (below freezing). Begin to make way north, establishing temporary secure locations whenever the temperature rises above freezing with the final destination being in Alaska. Zombies are at ambient temperature, so they should freeze solid or become sluggish in cold weather. This makes many parts of Alaska safe for most of the year. The land is still virgin enough that there is plenty of food provided by the landscape but not that many people populating the area.

Carrying a "Compact" 1911 - "Advanced" carry gun?
TMF replied to Viracnis's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I used to carry my compact 1911 all the time but have been carrying my Glock more these days. I never had a problem concealing it and I wear normal clothes (nothing baggy). I think the reason this individual referred to a 1911 as "advanced" is probably because of it being single action and the function of the safeties. If you're not familiar with the function of a 1911 then it can be dangerous to handle. I've been corrected before by many people for having the hammer back on my 1911 because they don't understand it's function; some of these people own/carry handguns. I don't think it's necessarily "advanced" but the user needs to really understand how it works as they should with any weapon they carry. It's just a lot easier to instruct someone who's a handgun beginner on how to use a Glock vs. how to use a 1911. -
Maybe I misunderstood what you're defining as the middle, but I took it as saying someone must absolutely believe in either the "left" or the "right" in order to be decisive. I recognize that moving our polarized politics to a middle ground is impossible because no one is willing to budge. What we have is a game of tug a war between the two sides and change only happens when somebody pulls harder, not through compromise. It's a shame. I wish we could abolish our two party system and give Americans the opportunity to choose the most qualified candidate instead of deciding between bad and worse. I acknowledge that this is nothing more than a fantasy, but was once the intentions of our founding fathers. I still don't think that I need to identify with a particular side to be decisive though.

Exactly. The problem is them trying to project their ideals on other states. California needs to start their own country and take all their debt with them.

I carry a G19 in a Don Hume IWB holster. You certainly have to be cautious of shirt tail when reholstering. Usually if I'm carrying I never take it out of the holster unless I come back home in which case the whole configuration comes out. Since the IWB is such a tight fit, when putting the holster on I have the weapon already inside the holster. This eliminates the worry of accidentally getting the shirt tail in the trigger well or taking the weapon slightly out of battery (due to the tight fit).
