Pennsylvania man defends himself against 3 thug kids
TMF replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If you want to roll with the big dogs ya can't piss like a pup. -
Well just like any of the tier 1 task forces there will be a mixture of elements mixed in... such as 160th flying for them, and perhaps some CAG guys along for the ride and at the TOC... maybe PJs on standby in case things go bad or even on the assault element. I guess the point I was bringing up is that they've repeatedly used DG guys as the assault force to cover down on these high profile hits that are outside Iraq/Afghanistan. I would think by now Delta would have been tasked with one of these since hostage rescue is their thing and they don't get to do it often now with Iraq being shut down.... they gotta be hatin' on the DG guys right now.

I guess the situation dictates. I'd like to say I wouldn't intervene if it appeared they weren't going to take it to the next level. I'd like to think that I'd keep my cool and let them take the money and go since it's not my job to protect private business' profits. However, I don't know how pissed I'd be about someone coming in and taking something that isn't his and terrorizing innocents.

Anti-gun protest at Starbucks on Valentine's Day
TMF replied to LagerHead's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
All, here is the response from the email I sent to Starbucks regarding the boycott: I didn't expect for them to respond with a pro-2A message, but I'm impressed they take the stance of following the law of the land as opposed to caving to pressure; hippies make up a good portion of their customer base. The email I sent them wasn't regarding OCing only, but handgun carry in general. I think because of the stuff that happened in California they are addressing it as an OC issue and not worrying about CC. I'll have to find a 2 dollar bill before the 14th. -
What Really Happened in the Gringrich ethics case ?

He's got the herp... ask her how she knows. -
Eh, a combination of opportunity and timing probably played into it. There are claims of a medical condition that hasted the process as well. I don't think the CIA would be conducting source operations from within the borders of Somalia considering there are plenty of countries bordering the region which are much more permissive environments. The borders are porous enough and it's not uncommon for folks in the region to travel back and forth. Besides, the guy was from Denmark and they're all pacifists or something. On the other hand, what's up with the SEALs getting all the good missions handed down? Did someone at Delta bang a Joint Chief's daughter or something?

One Person Shot At Hickory Hollow Mall
TMF replied to Volzfan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well they're gonna have to figure out something to do with those buildings as malls around the country go bankrupt. I see a lot of people at the malls when I go, but I don't see a lot of people spending money. Mostly thugs walking around looking "thugly" trying to impress the sluts. I guess it's like prison, only with chicks. -
Ha, it looks real but it's totally staged. The second part of the vid shows the last guy throwing the satchel at the foot of the hole, not in it. It looks like a satchel with burning time fuse coming out of the top, which is not very accurate when you start getting down to precious seconds. When they throw it down and jump there is a charge in the hole which remotely detonates. We had something similar to that in AIT where we low crawl under the machine gun fire and pass pits such as these where remote charges are detonated as we pass by.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
TMF replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well somewhere out there exists facts about this case in the form of third party witnesses and perhaps video evidence which was eluded to in the initial report. Someone who would lose their cool and pull a gun isn't someone that should be wearing a badge. As I said all along, if I had pulled a weapon on someone in a road rage incident that I helped to escalate I'm sure I would be charged with a crime. I would also be risking the other person pulling their weapon in kind which would have deadly results. This is the problem I've brought up numerous times to highlight why this is not appropriate behavior by anyone, but shouldn't be something a LEO believes is okay. We make jokes about some on the left who don't want lawful carry; those who cite fantastical stories about dodge city shootouts in the streets. But here is an example where someone pulled a weapon when he had helped escalate the situation; all involved were lucky that the other guy wasn't armed because it could have ended badly... who would be to blame then? -
Man, a lot of good info but I think it'd be cheaper and easier to invest in a back-up generator to the primary generator and focus on fuel storage, unless I had a large solar panel array or something, which would also be real expensive.

I would say that the term "gang" carries the connotation of an organized criminal element that exists for the purpose of consolidating power for the purpose of criminal activity. A couple of dirtbags that get together to rob some convenient stores probably wouldn't qualify by those terms. A long term group of individuals that has an organized chain of command, task organization, actively seeks to recruit new members and is primarily involved in criminal activity would be a "gang" in my book. I know that I just described the Democratic Party but you get what I'm saying. I think the NAACP is getting involved because they're trying to read between the lines here. I don't know the demographic that makes up gangs in Hamilton County, but perhaps the NAACP is just making the assumption he is talking about young black people. I don't know the goings-on the the NAACP, but I do know they lose their relevance more each day, so promoting racial issues where they don't exist further justifies their presence and cash flow. I doubt folks like Jesse Jackson want to see an end to racism... it makes them irrelevant and puts them out of a job. But then again, maybe there still is relevance to the existance of the NAACP.

Let me preface this by saying that I do own a Beretta 96. Now, Gunrunner can probably weigh in on this as well, but during my military career I've put somewhere between 50k-ish rounds through various M9s. I was also the guy who was responsible for the functionality of my organization's weapon systems. From a pool of 12 x Beretta M9s ranging between 10k-100k rounds through the pistol over the course of several years: - 8 x broken locking blocks. (This is a common issue when firing so many rounds at a time. We're talking nearly 1k in a day. I've learned to have spare locking blocks or locking block/barrel assemblies on hand at the range) - 1 x cracked slide. (Before we upgraded to thicker brigadier slides I heard this was a common problem. I don't know how to classify "common"; we're talking a unit that has around 1,000 M9s on it's books so maybe a few cracked and it became known as "common". I've only seen one, and I'm not sure at what point the slide became cracked. I was in the arms room doing an inventory and was like "hey, look at this sh*t!) This may be where some people get their information on the internet regarding the reliability of the weapon. I doubt anyone has been killed by a slide breaking... that sounds rediculous... I'm assuming he saw that on "Sin City" and regarded it as truth. Overall it's a great weapon and has great reliability in austere conditions. I wish they'd improve the strength of the locking blocks, but then again these locking blocks were in the US Army supply system. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the ones we had were of lower quality than what Beretta has on the open market, but I don't know that for sure. My 96 is nearly exactly the same as my M9 was and I dig it. I haven't broken a locking block yet, but then again, I'm not putting 5k rounds through it in a weeks time.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville
TMF replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I still don't see how these officers are justified in pulling their weapons if the alleged victim wasn't arrested or charged with anything. If they were justified to the point of not being charged with agg assault then that means the guy had committed some sort of threatening crime which should land him with charges, right? -

Anti-gun protest at Starbucks on Valentine's Day
TMF replied to LagerHead's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
From the "article" above. Just so we know what kind of "citizens" are organizing this boycott. These are the people that make Nancy Pelosi look like Rush Limbaugh. -
Just to be clear, the ACLU was on the right side of this one. They've been all over this for a while now... just something to think about.
-
The ACLU is also claiming victory on this... and I hear they are supplying lots of lawyers to it.

Road Rage involving Oak Ridge officers in Knoxville

So at what point are the facts of the investigation revealed? There only seems to be one side of the story here and no attempt on the part of the DA to inform the public. -
I have kids and I never checked the law. I'm more concerned with keeping the weapons unaccessible to them because the negative outcome is far more severe than what the law could ever do to me. ANYONE with kids should keep their weapons secure and unaccessible to them and shouldn't need the law to tell them that.

All nine justices agreed that Law Enforcement must obtain a warrant before placing GPS tracking devices on vehicles citing the 4th Amendment. These devices were installed on the exterior of vehicles without the need to illegally enter the suspects' vehicles, and therefore many LE agencies felt this wasn't a violation. So, what are your thoughts... did Scalia and the ACLU get this right? Nashville, other police must get warrant to use GPS on suspects | The Tennessean | tennessean.com (sorry, this is a link to the story on the Tennessean... don't hate, participate.)

True.

I'm no legal eagle, but I would assume being in direct possession of your firearm would negate the need to have it locked up. Anyone with children in their home (foster or not) should have their weapons locked up and secured to where the child cannot access it, but if it's on your person that counts as "secured" to me or any reasonable person. In my house all my guns are locked up with the exception of my carry pistol, which is on me at all times; and when I'm sleeping, is within arms reach. I guess when you're sleeping is the only time that it would be considered not in direct possession, but as long as the child doesn't have access to your room I don't see the problem. EDIT: I'd be willing to bet more young children (under 15) die from drowning in swimming pools than finding daddy's gun. Both are preventable by a responsible adult, but swimming pools aren't as "evil" I guess.

It would be AFN/Pentagon channel. If you ever want to know what real fake journalism looks like start watching that garbage. Controversy does sell. I'm sure we're all guilty of it; usually it's the sensational teasers that peak my interest on Yahoo to where I end up reading the story, then try to figure out why I'm beginning to care about the goings-on of the Kardashians.

^ As much as it may hurt our brains to think like a liberal, if you could put yourself in that place whilst reading the article you might find it biased in the other direction.
